edwards drive-in

this is a guilty pleasure i hate to admit but it's the best old school local joint for onion rings &rootbeer. not sure about the rest of the menu but the atmosphere will take you back a few decades.

local. i live in beech grove and visit edwards occasionally. its not my favorite place, and i was very suprised to see it on man vs. food. the atmosphere is great and is always clean. the neighborhood isn't wonderful. the drive-up car hops are always friendly and fast. but the food is only ok. i like the baby tacos, which seem like the same kind we get out of the frozen food section, but the onion rings are thick, greasy, smushy.... maybe some people's style, but i like mine crispy and flavorful. the tenderloin is just a tenderloin, nothing special. and the only thing on the menu i would recommend is therootbeer in a frosted mug... its only ok.

glad we stopped by!. got there on a tuesday night and it was crowded but not packed, very pleasant! we found out if was buffett night and boy did it look good! fried chicken, meat loaf, ribs....mmmmmmmmm! alas, since it was out first time there, we wanted to order off the menu so the buffett will have to wait! i had a double cheeseburger and fries and the wife had a the tenderloin and breaded mushrooms. we both had what we decided was the bestrootbeer either of us has ever had! frosted mug with no ice, mmmmmmmm! the food was made to order and hot! the staff was friendly and efficient and my wife said it was the best breaded mushrooms she has ever had! i don't know what all the fuss about the location is, the place has been there for 50 plus years! personally i like the fact that it's a bit out of the way. needless to say we will be back! thank you for a great meal!

the atmosphere is better than the food. to me, edwards will always have a nostalgic draw from my childhood, but if i was really being honest i'd say the food is mediocre. it isn't bad. it isn't great. the tenderloins are thin and crispy (not my preference) and you can tell the hamburgers are frozen pre-made patties. theirrootbeer floats are the best thing on the menu!

indiana is turning out to have the best diners in the country. have to be some of the best onion rings i've ever had. and how about that tenderloin?! huge and wonderfully breaded. be sure to get with their fabulous pickles. theirrootbeer is homemade. so good it's the firstrootbeer i've had in 11 years.

love yourrootbeer floats!! but the tenderloin i'd like it used to be it now tastes like a frozen premade fritters.. hope you take the time to make them homemade like you used too i might be back .. to far to come for just arootbeer float.. sorry.

great onion rings, wonderfulrootbeer, delicious burgers, but the tenderloin could use a little more seasoning in the breading. the tenderloin is a little bland when compared to some of the other great tenderloins in the state.

went here because of the man versus food episode. good pork tenderloin sandwich; homemade onion rings androotbeer was great. actual juke boxes made for a cool atmosphere.

owner. its a great place to drive to and get a burger or tenderloin and frys and frosted glass ofrootbeer. not many left any more so its a fun place to visit and the food isnt bad at all. monster tenderloins are worth the drive any day. my only issue is the dinning room usually feels cold to me and i dislike shivering while im eatting. other then that is a good place to go once in awhile for sure.

a family favorite. great retro dining experience...reasonable prices, friendly and efficient service, free jukebox, cool decor and most importantly really good food. they have some of the bestrootbeer, onion rings and corn dogs in town. my family loves eating here.

best tenderloin. my husband and i recently went here and parked at the curb-side service. the service was very quick and attentive. therootbeer was delicious but the highlight for me was the breaded tenderloin. it was paper-thin, just the way i like it and they very nicely cut it in half since it's such a huge sandwich. my husband also enjoyed his burger and fries.

heard a lot about edwards and been wanting to try it forever. unfortunately i was very disappointed. my boy friends tenderloin was undercook, it was oink through out the whole thing. my coney dog came out with no coney sauce. therootbeer was really good, and the employees were nice. i was really expecting a different experience. we won't be back was not worth the drive or the money.

this is a hit and miss place for me. the dietrootbeer is phenomenal! the onions rings are just a big greasy blobby mess. the mushrooms are standard breaded frozen- blah! the cole slaw is just ok. the grilled ham n cheese is the best i have ever had. i have had better (&worse) tenderloin sandwiches. overall its a 5 out of 10 for me.

nostalgic. this place is a great, casual place to relax and eat some good food and drink arootbeer in a frosty mug, while listening to old vinyls on the jukebox. i had a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings and arootbeer and my husband had the breaded tenderloin sandwich with the onion rings androotbeer. the bacon cheeseburger was tasty and it had a delicious chargrilled taste and my husband and i both agreed that the onion rings were some of the best we have ever had. the were crunchy and covered in the batter that was a perfect golden brown. i was jealous of how awesome my husband's tenderloin was. it was one of the best tenderloin sandwiches that i have ever tasted. we ordered the grilled cheese for our 2 year old little girl and she gobbled it up. her sandwich was huge, so we took it home for her to snack on the next day. the air conditioning was out when we went and the employees looked miserable, but they were still so friendly and managed to keep a smile on thier faces. this is a great place to take the family and we will definitely be going back for more casual evenings out.

i had it for the first time not too long ago and it was delicious! i ended up getting a burger, fries and their homemaderootbeer.. my fiancé however, ended up with a burger, onion rings and homemaderootbeer. like everyone else has said, the onion rings are exceptional, along with theirrootbeer! i will be going there again.
