this is a guilty pleasure i hate to admit but it's the best old school local joint for onion rings & root beer. not sure about the rest of the menu but the atmosphere will take you back a few decades.

local. i live in beech grove and visit edwards occasionally. its not my favorite place, and i was very suprised to see it on man vs. food. the atmosphere is great and is always clean. the neighborhood isn't wonderful. the drive-up car hops are always friendly and fast. but the food is only ok. i like the baby tacos, which seem like the same kind we get out of the frozen food section, but the onion rings are thick, greasy, smushy.... maybe some people's style, but i like mine crispy and flavorful. the tenderloin is just a tenderloin, nothing special. and the only thing on the menu i would recommend is the root beer in a frosted mug... its only ok.

glad we stopped by!. got there on a tuesday night and it was crowded but not packed, very pleasant! we found out if was buffett night and boy did it look good! fried chicken, meat loaf, ribs....mmmmmmmmm! alas, since it was out first time there, we wanted to order off the menu so the buffett will have to wait! i had a double cheeseburger and fries and the wife had a the tenderloin and breaded mushrooms. we both had what we decided was the best root beer either of us has ever had! frosted mug with no ice, mmmmmmmm! the food was made to order and hot! the staff was friendly and efficient and my wife said it was the best breaded mushrooms she has ever had! i don't know what all the fuss about the location is, the place has been there for 50 plus years! personally i like the fact that it's a bit out of the way. needless to say we will be back! thank you for a great meal!

the atmosphere is better than the food. to me, edwards will always have a nostalgic draw from my childhood, but if i was really being honest i'd say the food is mediocre. it isn't bad. it isn't great. the tenderloins are thin and crispy (not my preference) and you can tell the hamburgers are frozen pre-made patties. their root beer floats are the best thing on the menu!

they have great food! i love their tenderloins and fries, they have great chicken strips so juicy.
i wish they still had their pizza on their menu, it was like the kind i used to get in school my sister
and i went in there to have pizza and fries are mouth was watering for it and they said they didn't have
it anymore:( we did find something else on the menu not to worry. i think they should of kept their old edwards
sign there was nothing wrong with it and that was original from at least as long as i have known. if your not from indy and are in town for some good diner food stop bye and check it out.

indiana is turning out to have the best diners in the country. have to be some of the best onion rings i've ever had. and how about that tenderloin?! huge and wonderfully breaded. be sure to get with their fabulous pickles. their root beer is homemade. so good it's the first root beer i've had in 11 years.

i think without realizing it pat and i have been pursuing long operating establishments. a couple of weeks ago the kitley inn, established in 1946 and now edwards an original dog and suds from 1957. whereas kitley looks as though it hasn’t changed much since ’46 edwards definitely has had a face lift or two.

great onion rings, wonderful root beer, delicious burgers, but the tenderloin could use a little more seasoning in the breading. the tenderloin is a little bland when compared to some of the other great tenderloins in the state.

onion rings. love these onion rings. great tasting coating and the onion doesn't pull out of it when trying to eat them.

grilled cheese. okay grilled cheese sandwich. bread loses some of it's toasted crunch texture due to being wrapped, but hey, it's a simple grilled cheese sandwich...

coney dog with onions & cheese - as good or better than any other around town.

went here because of the man versus food episode. good pork tenderloin sandwich; homemade onion rings and root beer was great. actual juke boxes made for a cool atmosphere.

nostalgic restaurant. always wanted to try edwards since seeing it in man vs food. they're probably famous for their pork tenderloin sandwich, but i wanted the fish instead. it was good, along with their onion rings. the decor was definitely 50s.

perhaps one of the most kid-friendly restaurants in indy. and all because of a car.... there are many restaurants out there in indy that can claim to be kid-friendly. they might have games, etc for kids to play with. but the coolest part about edwards drive-in (not to mention the awesome tenderloin) was the way that the kids meals were "plated." they were put in cardboard cars. the cars made all the difference to my kids who glady ate the dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets and the grilled cheese sandwiches because they loved the fun "toy" that came with it. it made me happy enough to enjoy my tenderloin which i must agree was one of the better tenderloins i've had in this city. yes, the outsides of it got progressively crispier and that was a good thing. the crinkle-cut fries were better than i've had before, but still could be better if they would've been fresh cut. the cashiers at the front were super friendly and made me feel very welcome. i loved that.

this place kind of looks dated, but it all comes together. they've got a nicely paved parking lot that is perfect for the car shows they regularly host. this place is also spic-n-span to the max. the only place that can remotely compete with this place is suds drive in down in greenwood which hosts some pretty rad car shows in the summer months. i would recommend everyone looking for a bit of nostalgia comes to edwards. it's one of my favorites in this city.

unique. the coney dogs are the best in the country...they are not what's known as a "chili dog" if you go thinking you're going to get a chili dog you're going to be disappointed, they're 2 separate entities, edwards coneys taste like dog n suds coneys. the tenderloin has an outer edge that's crispy n crunchy and a delight to dip in ketchup or even better mustard, leaving you with a moist delicious tenderloin the size of the bun to be eaten with deluxe toppings yum.. the burgers are great, the hand dipped onion rings are some if the best, with moist and tender onion in each one, serving size to be shared by two!
