the place has good vegetarian and non vegetarian food. the views of the east head ofknysnaare amazing. the service is average. nice place around to have a stroll after meal.

the perfect location for a beautiful breakfast or lunch with family and friends. as aknysnaresident i frequently visit the restaurant and will continue to do so for many years. friendly staff and great food every time!

you can't beat the view here!  i mean, you are right at theknysnaheads with a crystal clear view of the heads, the lagoons, and swirling flocks of birds.  the air is crystal clear, fresh, and rejuvenating.  the restaurant is a beautiful, light, and airy one, though there are way too many benches for my taste--i tend to prefer sitting with something against my back.  they do provide cushions for the benches, however, so your backside won't be sore.  service is prompt and the food is fresh,though this does seem to be the general standard for knysna.  however, some of the way they prepare the food raises eyebrows for me.  i had the po'boy burger and i must say i was expecting something tastier--the pork was way too sweet and the tempura prawns---they didn't take the shells off of them!  they are covered in batter and you can't see that they're still in the shells.  calamari is quite good.  overall not bad but there are other places inknysnai prefer.

went for a quick drink and decided to say for light lunch due to the view. the restaurant's outside deck has the most fantastic view over theknysnaheads and even in winter this is a must do. you are so close you can almost touch water.

service is good and friendly!

we had toasted sandwiches - chicken mayo and ham/mozzarella/caramelized onion in brown. it came with chips and a small beetroot salad, as well as a very tasty tomato/garlic sauce. very well done and more filling than you would expect.

good experience and definitely worth the view!

east head cafe

a beautiful cafe on the east ofknysnaheads. a terrific view if you're seated on the outside and the cafe provides you with snuggle-some blankets. we ordered the fish and truffle chips (10/10) the fish batter is made with soda water and corn flour , crispy and delicious. the chai latte is sweet and spicy - perfect if you're looking for a balance of the two. the staff and manager sharifa is kind and friendly making your time at the cafe well worth it. a definite must try spot! 👌🏻

absolutely one of the best spots inknysnafor breakfast. their eggs benedicts, both normal and salmon are delicious and done to perfection. their truffle chips are fantastic and with great coffee and a good view of the ocean, it's a great way to start the day off. they use a first come first serve policy so arrive early!

this is the second restaurant that my boss and i tried whilst inknysnafor business recently.    and what a contrast this was compared to the previous evening's outing.

it was unfortunately a rather grey and misty morning inknysnabut i found it to be quite breathtaking as it made the heads to be mysterious looking.  we had wanted to sit on the outside section so that we be in the elements and enjoy the really amazing view.  but unfortunately, it started to rain gently for a bit so we were forced to move inside.  

the service was impeccable throughout and the food offerings were really good.  i had the salmon eggs benedict and they were really good and the hollandaise sauce was really well done, creamy and well seasoned.  they served their hot beverages in le creuset ware.  so there was an element of class to the establishment.  also they serve twg teas, which if the reader reads up on, originates from my country of birth.  so naturally i had to try it.  

this is a top class establishment and was very popular with both the locals and tourist alike.  the food and service was really top class and we are really happy that we did come here for breakfast.

so the hype for the view from this restaurant is definitely justified! such an awesome spot to take in the spectacular beauty ofknysnawhile enjoying a meal. it definitely ups the rating of this restaurant quite a bit.

we came through for lunch and both my boyfriend and i opted for burgers. i had the mushroom burger which was topped up with a delicious and creamy mushroom and truffle sauce pile. i found the patty to be quite bland though, so while the mushrooms were great i found the rest of the burger quite average.
i was very tempted to steal most of my boyfriends burger as he got the special of the day, which was a pulled pork burger with two deep fried prawns on top. the pulled pork had an amazing sweet and tangy flavour and the prawns were excellent. a much better choice than mine.
for dessert we got the chocolate and banana sunday which was unfortunately very average... the roasted nuts were a nice touch but it tasted like normal vanilla country fresh ice cream topped with some chocolate sauce and a few slices of banana.

next time i'm in kynsna i'll definitely be coming through to try their delicious looking breakfast menu!

we had the asian pulled pork burger that was topped with 2 crispy prawns. it was a little underwhelming but the view of theknysnaheads made up for it. parking is an issue and you get drivers all over the country. we went to the little gelato place across the parking lot of dessert. a lovely ending to our meal

the only place to eat inknysna. fabulous food and first class service. even during the hectic festive season the standards remain high.

this is without a doubt a beautiful setting to enjoy a quick coffee or lunch. stunning panoramic views ofknysnaare breathtaking but the restaurant was cosy and the service was speedy and friendly. (thanks james!) i just had a simple hot chocolate which was served in the traditional way - hot milk and melted dark chocolate that you mix together. my friend had an eggs benedict which was delicious.

the east head cafe is definitely one of the most beautiful places to have breakfast or lunch inknysnawith panoramic views of the ocean, the heads and the lagoon surrounding it.
the food is always beautifully presented and looks mouthwatering but i feel the actual taste sometime leaves a lot to be desired. the calamari and chips is always fresh but the batter can be quite heavy and oily. jurgen ordered the bbq pulled pork burger and while he enjoyed the initial flavour said that the apple slaw left a strange after taste.
despite this i will still come back to this café as the views are simply breathtaking; the cocktails are amazing; i've heard the breakfasts are spectacular and i just really love sitting outside and watching the ocean with jurgen.

one of knysna's nicest restaurants. service and food very good. nice location too over looking theknysnaheads. if one is so inclined, the option of a walk along the heads walk way is lovely before or after your visit there.

late review: p and i went to george for a few days and one of the days we decided to go to knysna. we enjoyed the majestic scenery of theknysnaheads and wanted to try something local. we tried the east head cafe, wow what a place. i loved the tranquility of it and the view is seriously beautiful. we ordered a cape malay sea food curry and shew that was a memorable meal. imagine you by the sea overlooking theknysnaheads and sipping an amazing cappuccino and here come this meal.. yes i cannot fault anything of my experience, how welcoming they are, the love they show the visitors and the passion and respect they show the food.. full marks.. well done guys

one the better eating places inknysnawhere some pride is taken in the quality of the food. ...and not just dished up to a tourist market where there will be no comebacks.
the view is beautiful of theknysnaheads with a lovely outside sitting area.
parking can be a problem and sometimes a small walk is required to get to the restaurant. it is worth it because the standard of food at most restaurants inknysnais abysmal.
addendum : i had breakfast there yesterday and it was not as good as usual.
