stunning views? check. fresh and tasty cuisine? check. east head cafe is a must if visiting or driving through knysna.
the pulled pork and prawn tempura burger was lovely, pork was tender and sweet, and the batter for the prawns was light and fluffy. be warned though: average waiting time for a table can be quite long as they only take walk-ins.

east head cafe is a must for a delicious breakfast or lunch with an authentic south african feel and incredible views of the heads.

the service is friendly and the food absolutely amazing. this is a very popular spot so be prepared to wait in line or arrive early over the holiday season.

if i could eat here every day i would. the most perfect view of the heads and a variety of food which is perfectly prepared with attention to detail..
the staff are super friendly and helpful and every dining experience is a pleasure.
anything you try on the menu is going to be good.

food - ate here a few times as we stayed down the road, breakfast was definitely better than lunch and better breakfast options for vegetarians too. food generally nice and of good fresh quality but not super tasty. simple and good quality which is better than many other restaurants can offer so that was a plus. also nice is the option of non dairy milks for hot beverages.

service was excellent. food was good. seafood curry very tasty and worthwhile to have followed the suggestion from the friendly waitress. the line fish was tasty and well presented. worth the visit

you can't beat the view here!  i mean, you are right at the knysna heads with a crystal clear view of the heads, the lagoons, and swirling flocks of birds.  the air is crystal clear, fresh, and rejuvenating.  the restaurant is a beautiful, light, and airy one, though there are way too many benches for my taste--i tend to prefer sitting with something against my back.  they do provide cushions for the benches, however, so your backside won't be sore.  service is prompt and the food is fresh,though this does seem to be the general standard for knysna.  however, some of the way they prepare the food raises eyebrows for me.  i had the po'boy burger and i must say i was expecting something tastier--the pork was way too sweet and the tempura prawns---they didn't take the shells off of them!  they are covered in batter and you can't see that they're still in the shells.  calamari is quite good.  overall not bad but there are other places in knysna i prefer.

beautiful set up but i feel like in the past years the quality of food has unfortunately gone down. still a really beautiful restaurant with good food.

superb! the best meal we had in knysna. perfect for lunch or breakfast. they are closed for dinner. ambience and views captured the essence of a balmy meal at the seaside. the staff went out of their way to make our visit all that we had hoped it would be. the fish was simply but perfectly prepared with a good choice of sides.the calamari was excellent, as was the hake.mussels were done the traditional belgian way...very yummy. according to the carnivore in our group the burger was of a good quality and delicious. coffees and desserts didn’t disappoint and special mention goes to the lemon meringue pie(suggested by tayne), which is like a heavenly, fluffy cloud of molotov resting on a silky lemon base. the chocolate cake wasn’t too sweet and out of this world. yummy place, yummy food.

had the most delectable cesar salad and trendy gin cocktails on a late afternoon. we returned for lunch, the restaurant was packed to capacity but we enjoyed a lovely meal with attentive service. the view is to die for.

east head cafe is not the fanciest of places, but it is better than any fancy place i've been to. they're very well located overlooking the heads, but the restaurant next door that is arguably better located, folds often. the reason for this is the following list: 1:management 2:service 3:quality food 4:affordable menu 5: location

i can not think of a better restaurant anywhere. excellent for breakfast.

i would not recommend the beetroot butternut salad. it is basically a sample of food for the amount you are paying. the overall experience was great though.

east head cafe ticks all he boxes. spectacular views from inside and the outside deck. great cafe food. excellent service. we had the catch of the day- grilled kingklip. fries served with truffle oil, parmesan cheese, sprinkled with parsley. rock shandy with hibiscus was perfect for a mild winter's afternoon. i had the virgin g&t.

went for a quick drink and decided to say for light lunch due to the view. the restaurant's outside deck has the most fantastic view over the knysna heads and even in winter this is a must do. you are so close you can almost touch water.

service is good and friendly!

we had toasted sandwiches - chicken mayo and ham/mozzarella/caramelized onion in brown. it came with chips and a small beetroot salad, as well as a very tasty tomato/garlic sauce. very well done and more filling than you would expect.

we stopped at this place for a late breakfast on a road trip up the garden route for tour. the staff were very accommodating and efficient at serving our large group. there is something for everyone on the menu and the food is great - you will not be disappointed. the restaurant is also tastefully decorated and the view is beautiful!
