i went to the boulderdushanbeteahouse with a boulder native friend and i was just floored by the design/interior which apparently had to be shipped in and assembled here!

the tea/coffee menu is quite extravagant and if it is your first time, you could definitely use the help of a server in terms of picking out a good option for you. the server was great about helping us out with suggestions according to our preferences.

this is definitely a great place to hang out with friends for those in depth conversations or even to take out business acquaintances as it is sure to impress anyone!

should be in 1st. thedushanbeteahouse hits every mark in my book:
-gourmet deliciousness that fills you up while providing the utmost in nutrition
-a fair price
-beautiful setting
-friendly staff
-great bar
-outside patio (w/garden and accompanied by a freaking stream/moat!).

per the menu at the teahouse you really can't go wrong with a single item. i may not have had everything but i've had enough to know that a diner may be bold and try the lot, the magicians in the back know what they're doing and you won't believe how little you pay for what you've had. my personal favorite is the chickpea kufteh and i'm not even a vegetarian, i make it a point to have meat with every meal; but this dish, wow. imagine a big falafel that's a little bit softer, like a meatball (has killer spices) and add spinach with a pomegranate sauce. beyond the food i was also served the best mojito i've ever had! everything here is made better by outstanding staff who put care and consideration into their work.

a little hint about how to enjoy the teahouse to its fullest; go in late spring-early summer when the patio is in bloom and the temperature is just right...unless of course you have allergies, in which case the patio would probably be a nightmare and nobody wants to see you get puffy. speaking of allergies, this place is covered in flowers which means bees so do keep that in mind as they may pay your table a short visit should you sit outside.

thedushanbeteahouse is a must for my out-of-state guests and is always the first in my list for recommended restaurants. second todushanbeteahouse is fogo de chao, if you love meat and don't mind feeling like a king then fogo de chao is where you want to go. in a close third is cafe brazil with a cozy and colorful atmosphere to accompany some adventurous cuisine.

chared?. the boulderdushanbetea house http://www.boulderteahouse.com/ was presented to the city of boulder by the mayor ofdushanbeafter a visit in 1987. i've been to the tea house before, but only for tea... it's a tea house after all. tonight i was there for dinner, i ordered the tajikistan plov. the menu reads: traditional rice dish with carrots, onions, chickpeas and spices with grilled beef, tomato-cucumber salad, dried fruit.
so i was wondering when i ordered, what kind of dried fruit was i going to get?

the food came, and i liked the tomato-cucumber salad, which did not have dried fruit, it was served over spinach. the cucumbers were not real fresh, but still good flavor. the beef was served over the "traditional rice dish with carrots, onions, chickpeas". i'm not sure where the spices were, but i couldn't find them in the rice, and the definitely were not on the charred beef which came with it. i was a little surprised, 1/2 of the beef was cooked medium/medium well (which is just fine with me), but the other half was well done and charred on the outside. i have to admit, i don't think i need to go back....

they did pay for the meal, as you would expect... but the question running through my mind, is "why would anyone serve that?"

all in all, i was thinking the dried fruit would go well with a savory well spiced beef slice over some mild flavored rice/vegetables.... that' wasn't quite how things ended up....
