any local will tell you duluth grill is the bestbreakfastin the area and there's a good reason for that. it is. there was a long wait for sundaybreakfaston our first visit, but it was worth every second. everything is excellent, plain and simple. real, quality, locally sourced ingredients are crafted with care and delivered by waitstaff who genuinely seem to like their jobs, despite insane busyness.

we can't wait to try the new sister restaurant, omc smokehouse.

breakfast was bad enough i'd never go back. i had the corn beef hash and eggs. service was fine. food was terrible and expensive. just because the ingredients are touted as "local and organic" does not mean they are high quality. i can't speak for the rest of the food but if you go avoid the eggs, the corn beef hash, hashbrowns and (i think this maybe the source of the problem) anything cooked in oil. i have no idea what they use but everything tasted "off". cooking is less than professional too. i had to request a second order of eggs after getting hard cooked "over easy" and the hashbrowns were raw.breakfastis much better at uncle loui's or billings park cafe.

the duluth grill is the kind of restaurant that serves everything from vegan omelets with gluten free toast to ratatouille to pasties, a northern minnesota favorite brought to the iron range by cornish miners.  if you want to know where the salmon in your salad was smoked or who raised the bison in your burger, it’s listed on the back of the menu.  so before i even got my order, the duluth grill had already endeared itself to me with its focus on local ingredients, the plethora of vegetarian and vegan options, and the fact that they servebreakfastall day.

smoked salmon omelette -amazing. nice to fins a place where we can get organic, gluten free foods in duluth. place was packed. happy people milling around outside by the morning glory arches, or in the foyer sitting on the bench reading. 15 minutes to get seated on labor day, not bad. will try to get there earlier forbreakfastnext time. i had gunpowder green tea, hubby had black tea iced. kids had berry blast smoothies, which they loved .... teenager had two! i loved them too, as they were sweetened with banana and lifeway kefir. healthy!! daughter had a cinnamon roll as big as her head, boys had applewood smoked bacon and toasted udi's gluten free bagels. husband had red flannel hash that we wished had been hit with a bit more spice, old bay maybe, please? i had the smoked salmon omelette which was amazing. so, so, so tasty. hubby and teenager tried it and agreed it was the best thing on the table. this is smoked salmon at it's succulent best. i also got a yummy, crispy, chewy, toasted udi's gf bagel. i make these at home and can't get them this crisp... thinking maybe they fried them in butter? will try at home! so, 4 out of 5 stars from us. great, healthy food, but bit of a wait for a family with kids.

hippy flair. that's the vibe i got when viewing the menu...plus the teas offered to us when we arrived at our table. in short, i loved it. the menu is varied and unique and the quality of food is excellent. it was a food adventure as we tried most of theirbreakfastfoods. i particularly enjoyed the homemade corned beef hash and red flannel hash!
it's worth a try if you haven't been there before, and i know we will visit it again if we are ever in duluth!

what a perfect lunch!. i had had a largebreakfastand a big lunch was not on the agenda after the zoo with my wife and son. the menu was terribly tempting though... pasty, bison french dip, burgers, smoked fish salad... i settled on the half 'wich and soup, blt and the days soup, forager's stew. perfect. blt was simple; bacon, lettuce, tomato (ripe and drippy, they made their own dressing). oh, btw, perfect!!! the forager's stew, spruced up potato chowder with greens and some kind of grain (quinoa?), a coupla shots of pickapeppa made it extra perfect!!! gotta try the breakfast.

update -breakfastis perfect!!! scotch eggs, blueberry scone, great coffee. the wife's french toast was outrageously decadent and my three year olds pb&j stuffed french toast was amazing. this is an absolute must stop for dining in duluth, if not the entire north land region.
