the admiral is an institution and some of the meals were good and some seemed to miss the night we were there.
i think tassie and hobart may have grown up so the admiral might have to lift it game

amazing food and service, we ordered almost everything on the menu and it was all so delicious! the decor was so quirky and interesting, made it all the more better! good value and we will definitely return next time we’re in hobart

we had grilled seafood platter and chowder soup. please please please must try their chowder soup and don’t even consider to share with someone. you definitely need to grab one for your own as it’s ridiculous amazing.

amazing atmosphere, food good but i’ll rate them a 2* due to their service . it’s like a factory, want to get people in and out .. making money and food is not cheap ...

i highly recommend this place!!! the food was so amazing !!! especially salmon grill!!
i will definitely come back to have dinner here again.
also staff very friendly

love their grill seafood platter but not so much with the cold platter. very interesting indoor decor. their hot stone salmon rice s amazing too. definitely suggested to go there if you are ever in hobart.

yes, get the seafood chowder. you won't be disappointed. the large is massive, so i would recommend the smaller version with a loaf of their bread. great spot, amazing collection of nautical treasures (private collection of the owner). if you can't get to the bruny island beer co. any other time, get the whey stout. it's rad.

top notch food and a great decor! enjoyed every bite. bit on the expensive side but definitely worth it for an occasion! calamari was tops! lovely!

service is very good very polite quick service but the food lots to desire very cold over cooked very dry the butter on the prawns was cooked off scallops were very hard over cooked had no taste smoked salmon as you see in the pictures i added very soggy and dark chips nice and hot but alot of small cramps and dark old oil taste also in the pictures maybe my luck of the draw but wouldn’t go back or recommend .beautifully decorated restaurant and friendly staff quality service but 1 out of 5 food very disappointed take away fish and chips would’ve been better

delicious fresh seafood and warm freindly staff at the drunken admiral.
awesome location by the harbour as well.
i also really love the way they have set up the resturant like and old ship. very cosy and cool atmosphere.

service was good, food came out quickly. chowder was yum but very thick texture, oysters were top notch. tried the mixed grill platter- got to make sure you don’t leave the food on there too long or it’ll over cook but the seafood was very good, particularly the scallops and salmon. cool interior, only negative is it’s quite expensive.

omg...right from the entrance we wr amazed at the decor. felt like we were in some pirated ship. it was awesome.
at first kids didnt want to enter.
the man serving us was so kind enough to help us order and understand what we wanted to order. he adviced us the top 5 dishes and it was super. seafood was fresh. fish was superb. chowder was to die for.
overall...super food and ambience..

again being vegetarian, not too much options on the menu but it had my lovely spaghetti arabiatta which was outstanding. the taste was perfect with the amazing cocktails on our table. the ambience was amazing.

recommend: seafood chowder, smoke salmon & baguette. i just love both of them. it tastes great.
the chowder is very creamy & contains a reasonable amount of seafood.
the smoke salmon & baguette come with a mayonnaise sauce, the pickle carrot & pickle baby gherkin. i can feel that their mayonnaise is a homemade. it tastes just unique that i have never had any mayo that good before. the smoke salmon is very fresh and the pickle carrot is yummy. and for the pickle gherkin, i don't like it at all. it is too sour.
do not recommend: admiral seafood stew. i personally find it not special and way so expensive i remember paying at least 45$ for it.

busy busy busy! the restaurant had a really cool sailing ship vibe- it’s definitely a must go to restaurant!
we had the entree size of the fish chowder and the serving size was really big! it was packed full of seafood in the chowder and you could definitely taste everything in it! but it was just a tiny bit too salty for me!
for mains we ordered the scallops, squid, fish and chips and the mixed grill. the squids were lovely, nice and tender but the highlight for me was definitely the scallops! the size of one scallop is really big and when you bit into it, it was lovely fresh and juicy! though most of the food were deep fried but you can definitely tell the seafood is fresh!
we ordered a main for each one of us and it was plenty of food! i recommend ordering a couple to share!
