*dough zone downtown seattle*

this outlet near downtown seattle has a huge line waiting for the food. it’s definitely worth it in my opinion. inside, it is very spacious, perhaps explaining the long wait? i enjoyed their service (see the list of food we ordered). my favourite dish was the gyoza like panfried dumplings. all the other dishes were super tasty, but a bit small in serving size. otherwise, it’s a greatplaceto visit. it might be a good idea to book ahead in order to avoid the line!

i'm going to start off by saying i'm probably a little biased because my mom makes amazing chinese food. thisplacewas actually pretty good compared to my mom's cooking though. i had the beef roll which was good but pretty one dimensional. the shrimp and pork steamed dumplings were delicious, and i sampled the pig's feet noodles and thought they were really flavorful. the red bean tofu was a little weird - the tofu was bland but the red beans were way too sweet.
the ambience is nice and it's a lot cleaner than a lot of chinese restaurants. the portions were pretty small so we ended up ordering more after we got our food. overall a good experience.

other than din tai fung this is another greatplacefor dumplings and buns! the jian buns are a must as well as their juicy pork dumplings. definitely can't go wrong with those choices. also delicious is the beef pancake roll! yum!

competition for din tai fung. friends told us this was theplaceto go for dumplings in the seattle area. no surprise that there was a wait for a table. i told the hostess that we would sit at the bar but no one was sitting anyone at the bar, my husband came in a few minutes later and asked to sit at the bar where they seated him quickly. we began with sweet & sour cucumber (okay), then had pork dumplings (very good), zhajiang noodles (nice), green onion pancake (too many onions and salty) and pan fried pork dumplings (best item). the meal was good. the pork dumplings were definitely filled with lots of meat and we enjoyed watching them make the dumplings.

green onion pancakes? check. chinese doughnuts? fresh-made noodles? check. biscuits and “burgers”? check. there’s even shengjian bao (here called jian buns), making dough zone about the onlyplacein the area to find the pan-fried relative of xiao long bao. so what’s the verdict on quality? pretty good, overall. the xiao long bao ($8.50 for 10) are about the c

go for the dumplings. it's great to finally start to see some more diverse chinese restaurants opening up in the seattle area. at least among the chinese community, dough zone has created a bit of a buzz as din tai fung now has a local competitor. love that!

have their many varieties of dumplings. their xiao long bao (xlb) is one of the best in the area (din tai fung is the otherplacei like) and is a welcome addition. their skin is made very well -- not too thick -- and the soup quantity is great. it's not quite to the standard set in richmond/vancouver, but unfortunately nothing in seattle is yet. their many boiled and pan-fried dumplings were also very good. we had the steamed pork and shrimp dumplings (expensive, but unique with a whole shrimp (tail included) in each dumpling), steamed pork dumplings (outstanding -- gobbled up by my kids) and potstickers (good, but i'd stick with the steamed and boiled ones).

we had a scallion pancake which was quite nice -- light, crispy and appropriately delicate. we also had a bowl of beef noodle soup which was really disappointing. the noodles were not very good, the broth was lacking and the beef brisket was not in the typical chunks. i don't plan to have noodles there again.

overall, i'm excited that dough zone is here and will be back to try more things (other than the noodles).

awesome dumplings, but stay away from the noodles. we went there tonight as it recently opened. there was a decent line and we ended up waiting close to 25min or so for a table of four. the prices were very good and it seemed promising. we ordered a variety of soup and dry noodles as well as their two xiao lung bao options (one with shrimp). the xlbs were the best and rivalled din tai fung's (at least the local seattle) level. the rumour is that the chef came from there. we were able to check out the other dumplings from the other tables around us and they seem to look good. the noodles were bland and tasteless. there were no texture or flavor, so we now know to stay away from them (unless you just want to get full fast).

we will definitely try thisplaceagain given the awesome price and quality factor!

fairly new soup dumplingplacein bellevue called dough zone . the menus were full of small dishes, from dumplings, buns, to noodles and congees. i went there twice already and was able to try different dishes. great news that finally there was aplaceserving comparable soup dumpling, xiao long bao, to din tai fung ‘s. equally thin-skinned and very juicy with tender gingery meat, the dough zone xiao long bao were delicious and at a lower price point than din tai fung – a bonus! the rest of the menu items were hit and miss.
