good chinese food chain. we went to the redmond one on friday eve and had a 20 minute wait for 5 people. there are a lot of vegetarian options and the service is fast. i would recommend thedumplingsand beans.

chinese restaurants in america (except those in l.a, new york and san francisco) oftentimes try to serve everything on their menu, from stir-fries to hot-pots, from rice dishes todumplingsand noodles. unless you know the chef’s specialty before hand and order accordingly, you are likely to be disappointed…that is, if authentic chinese is what your are after.

some super delicious food at the dough zone! xia long soupdumplingswere excellent, the steamed pork buns had a wonderful filling, and the pan fried chicken gyoza were the best gyoza i have ever eaten! i also had the pig ear and they were super delicious mixed in the noodles with minced pork sauce. also the pickled cucumber salad was top notch. will be back for sure.

we are actually in the redmond dough zone. we came after 7 pm for dinner, so the line was short. after we ordered, the service was fast. overall, thedumplingshave gotten better than before, with thinner wraps. the noodles portions were small, but quite good.

i'm going to start off by saying i'm probably a little biased because my mom makes amazing chinese food. this place was actually pretty good compared to my mom's cooking though. i had the beef roll which was good but pretty one dimensional. the shrimp and pork steameddumplingswere delicious, and i sampled the pig's feet noodles and thought they were really flavorful. the red bean tofu was a little weird - the tofu was bland but the red beans were way too sweet.
the ambience is nice and it's a lot cleaner than a lot of chinese restaurants. the portions were pretty small so we ended up ordering more after we got our food. overall a good experience.

competition for din tai fung. friends told us this was the place to go fordumplingsin the seattle area. no surprise that there was a wait for a table. i told the hostess that we would sit at the bar but no one was sitting anyone at the bar, my husband came in a few minutes later and asked to sit at the bar where they seated him quickly. we began with sweet & sour cucumber (okay), then had porkdumplings(very good), zhajiang noodles (nice), green onion pancake (too many onions and salty) and pan fried porkdumplings(best item). the meal was good. the porkdumplingswere definitely filled with lots of meat and we enjoyed watching them make the dumplings.

i didn’t get to try a lot of their menu because my stomach is only so big, but i came here for the soupdumplingsand they didn't disappoint in that area. they’re not din tai feng, but that’s okay – it will do for a simple and quick meal. there’s a lot fewer tourists and the wait is slightly shorter than din tai feng and it’s also a less expensive. a little crazy with maxed out servers, but i was able to sit and watch them make soupdumplingsthe entire time from my seat.  i also need to try the shen jian bao next time.  give it a try and see what you think!

pork jelly and juicy porkdumplingswere my fav of the six dishes we tried. efficient and friendly staff worked well together, collectively serving a packed dining room. enjoyed watching the crepes anddumplingsbeing made and how everyone lit up when a woman brought a new pan of dumpling filling to them. seeing them smile and laugh as they made thedumplingstogether was heart warming. thick cushions on the chairs were a nice touch too.

go for the dumplings. it's great to finally start to see some more diverse chinese restaurants opening up in the seattle area. at least among the chinese community, dough zone has created a bit of a buzz as din tai fung now has a local competitor. love that!

have their many varieties of dumplings. their xiao long bao (xlb) is one of the best in the area (din tai fung is the other place i like) and is a welcome addition. their skin is made very well -- not too thick -- and the soup quantity is great. it's not quite to the standard set in richmond/vancouver, but unfortunately nothing in seattle is yet. their many boiled and pan-frieddumplingswere also very good. we had the steamed pork and shrimpdumplings(expensive, but unique with a whole shrimp (tail included) in each dumpling), steamed porkdumplings(outstanding -- gobbled up by my kids) and potstickers (good, but i'd stick with the steamed and boiled ones).

we had a scallion pancake which was quite nice -- light, crispy and appropriately delicate. we also had a bowl of beef noodle soup which was really disappointing. the noodles were not very good, the broth was lacking and the beef brisket was not in the typical chunks. i don't plan to have noodles there again.

overall, i'm excited that dough zone is here and will be back to try more things (other than the noodles).

awesome dumplings, but stay away from the noodles. we went there tonight as it recently opened. there was a decent line and we ended up waiting close to 25min or so for a table of four. the prices were very good and it seemed promising. we ordered a variety of soup and dry noodles as well as their two xiao lung bao options (one with shrimp). the xlbs were the best and rivalled din tai fung's (at least the local seattle) level. the rumour is that the chef came from there. we were able to check out the otherdumplingsfrom the other tables around us and they seem to look good. the noodles were bland and tasteless. there were no texture or flavor, so we now know to stay away from them (unless you just want to get full fast).

we will definitely try this place again given the awesome price and quality factor!
