although din tai fung bestowed with michelin stars, dough zone will be the next contender for it.

tried dan dan noodles and qbao (known as sheng jian bao for shanghainese). it was tasty and fulfilling with packs of flavors. every bao has liquid soup inside, which will burst in your mouth.

if you like spicy aromatic peppercorn, then dan dan noodles will be highly recommended!!!

*dough zone downtown seattle*

this outlet near downtown seattle has a huge line waiting for the food. it’s definitely worth it in my opinion. inside, it is very spacious, perhaps explaining the long wait? i enjoyed their service (see the list of food we ordered). my favourite dish was the gyoza like panfried dumplings. all the other dishes were super tasty, but a bit small in serving size. otherwise, it’s a great place to visit. it might be a good idea to book ahead in order to avoid the line!

good chinese food chain. we went to the redmond one on friday eve and had a 20 minute wait for 5 people. there are a lot of vegetarian options and the service is fast. i would recommend the dumplings and beans.

their food is good but since they have become busy their help at the front has become very rude and unhelpful. they need to improve their customer service or the will not retain their customer base.

chinese restaurants in america (except those in l.a, new york and san francisco) oftentimes try to serve everything on their menu, from stir-fries to hot-pots, from rice dishes to dumplings and noodles. unless you know the chef’s specialty before hand and order accordingly, you are likely to be disappointed…that is, if authentic chinese is what your are after.

came here for a late lunch. we got a table immediately. we ordered the chive filled ravioli, congee with quinoa, jiajang noodle, tofu plate, and a couple of dumplings.
there was a possibility of a refill for the congee, the original order cannot be shared with others in the first place. taste-wise, we are all satisfied.

some super delicious food at the dough zone! xia long soup dumplings were excellent, the steamed pork buns had a wonderful filling, and the pan fried chicken gyoza were the best gyoza i have ever eaten! i also had the pig ear and they were super delicious mixed in the noodles with minced pork sauce. also the pickled cucumber salad was top notch. will be back for sure.

we are actually in the redmond dough zone. we came after 7 pm for dinner, so the line was short. after we ordered, the service was fast. overall, the dumplings have gotten better than before, with thinner wraps. the noodles portions were small, but quite good.

i'm going to start off by saying i'm probably a little biased because my mom makes amazing chinese food. this place was actually pretty good compared to my mom's cooking though. i had the beef roll which was good but pretty one dimensional. the shrimp and pork steamed dumplings were delicious, and i sampled the pig's feet noodles and thought they were really flavorful. the red bean tofu was a little weird - the tofu was bland but the red beans were way too sweet.
the ambience is nice and it's a lot cleaner than a lot of chinese restaurants. the portions were pretty small so we ended up ordering more after we got our food. overall a good experience.

other than din tai fung this is another great place for dumplings and buns! the jian buns are a must as well as their juicy pork dumplings. definitely can't go wrong with those choices. also delicious is the beef pancake roll! yum!

competition for din tai fung. friends told us this was the place to go for dumplings in the seattle area. no surprise that there was a wait for a table. i told the hostess that we would sit at the bar but no one was sitting anyone at the bar, my husband came in a few minutes later and asked to sit at the bar where they seated him quickly. we began with sweet & sour cucumber (okay), then had pork dumplings (very good), zhajiang noodles (nice), green onion pancake (too many onions and salty) and pan fried pork dumplings (best item). the meal was good. the pork dumplings were definitely filled with lots of meat and we enjoyed watching them make the dumplings.

i didn’t get to try a lot of their menu because my stomach is only so big, but i came here for the soup dumplings and they didn't disappoint in that area. they’re not din tai feng, but that’s okay – it will do for a simple and quick meal. there’s a lot fewer tourists and the wait is slightly shorter than din tai feng and it’s also a less expensive. a little crazy with maxed out servers, but i was able to sit and watch them make soup dumplings the entire time from my seat.  i also need to try the shen jian bao next time.  give it a try and see what you think!

pork jelly and juicy pork dumplings were my fav of the six dishes we tried. efficient and friendly staff worked well together, collectively serving a packed dining room. enjoyed watching the crepes and dumplings being made and how everyone lit up when a woman brought a new pan of dumpling filling to them. seeing them smile and laugh as they made the dumplings together was heart warming. thick cushions on the chairs were a nice touch too.
