i don’t go for dimsumoften but jumped at the chance when we were meeting up with some friends for saturday brunch. we arrived at 11:30am and put our name down. only had to wait about 10-15 minutes for a table. it got pretty busy at noon so i suggest going earlier. seems like the tour buses bring people here too.

had christmas day brunch there this year. hey, it was just my partner and i for the holidays and we figured we would do something different.
a really good experience and based on previous visits i have to relate this is a consistantly run dimsumrestaurant you can count on. big room, not crowded, clean, good staff, and lots of choices on the food tables being brough@t around regularily.
im always happy with the experience of trying new and different foods when i eat dim sum.
and also always reminded that it is consistantly rather pricey when i go to pay.
no different here.
so, 1 point off for that,...but thats it.
this place is really good.

a retro chinese dimsumrestaurant in victoria chinatown. the style of their dimsum is really old fashion, but acceptable quality. of course, you cannot compare to what we can get from metro vancouver.

went here recently for dimsumlunch. no real complaints, most of it was pretty good. dimsumis always a bit of a crap shoot for me but over all it was what we expected, greasy, saucy, spice and quick. i went with my filipino co-worker and he liked it a lot. maybe i don't do dimsumenough to be the best judge... i would go again but honestly for $20 i can think of better china town options that are more fitting my tastes.

i was initially quite skeptical about don mee because it didn’t have the highest ratings on popular sites such as yelp and zomato. my husband had tried the restaurant before with a few of his friends a few years back and he said he quite enjoyed it – enough to go back at least. as the restaurant had been in business for over 80 years, i was pretty curious to see how their dimsumwas.
as we finally got seated, the table was clean and we were ready to order. because dimsumhere is fully on carts, there is no menu. you just ask the servers for a plate of whatever you like that they have and they mark it down on the paper which later becomes your bill.

we tried a few things, but we ended up ordering a few plates more than we anticipated (that’s what happens when you’re hungry) so we had to take some home.

this has been my favorite place to go for dimsumin victoria. i haven't tried the regular menu though. we have been going regularly for years.

worst dimsumservice. the cart ladies were more concerned about chatting then serving. hardly any food out either. the food we did get was good cooked great though.

very good dimsum- on par with vancouver. good tea, good prices (the usual stamp card set up), only missing the lazy susan's. the women who serve the dimsumfrom the carts had such hussle, very good service on a busy sunday afternoon. they were happy to let us know when our favourite items were coming out. would return to very often again. reminiscent of home.

terrible service. i went in this restaurant for lunch. the restaurant was very busy and the waitress were very rude. i asked for a coffee and i needed to harass the waitresses to obtain one. the dimsumwas good. we never received glasses of water on our table while the other tables did. i don't recommend this restaurant if you don't know this kind of restaurant because the waitresses won't explain how to order or what is dim sum.

average. maybe it's the place to go for dimsumbut the dinner isn't very impressive. the food is rather bland and lacking of flavour. the 5 spiced squid had no spice whatsoever and the wonton soup tasted like warm water rather than broth. the only reasonably tasting dish was the scallops and eggplant which had a bit of kick. i was also puzzled by the seating arrangement. all diners of asian decent were seated on one side of the restaurant whilst everyone else was on the other side. it was very obvious the seating was segregated. very odd. the staff were nice enough and i had the bonus of receiving 5 fortunes in my fortune cookie but apart from that it was pretty average and i've heard of better places in downtown.

good dimsumcrappy manager. i love coming her for dimsum! it still has the best dim some in town ! what i don't get is the crabby older thin chinese host/manager. put a smile on your face. at least a thank you or a smile would be nice when i pay the bill.

best dimsumin town. we have the shrimp roll(?) with the scallop on top; the vegetarian dumpling with sesame, peanut and tofu inside; ginger beef, and sticky rice in the banana (?) leaf. all are excellent. they don't speak english well but muddle through as the food is delicious and i look forward to every visit.

rich and salty. it was my first dimsumexperience and i had a blast. i think it was pretty pricey though. after tasting a couple items i started to feel sick because it was so rich and/ or salty. the tea made up for this though, it really helped my tummy and i liked its flavor. i am really looking forward to going back but next time i'm going to pace myself.
one thing i got a kick out of was watching the servers attack a table when a group left, they would have it cleaned and set in no time. sounds silly but as someone who's been a server for years i was really impressed. way to work as a team!
lady at the counter had a stick up her butt though.. what a grinch!

overpriced dim sum:(. the dimsumwas over cooked and overpriced compared with its quality. the service was slow and the waitress was not well trained. but other dishes were just ok~
