had christmas day brunch there this year. hey, it was just my partner and i for the holidays and we figured we would do something different.
a really good experience and based on previous visits i have to relate this is a consistantly run dim sum restaurant you can count on. big room, not crowded, clean, good staff, and lots of choices on the food tables being brough@t around regularily.
im always happy with the experience of trying new and different foods when i eat dim sum.
and also always reminded that it is consistantly rather pricey when i go to pay.
no different here.
so, 1 point off for that,...but thats it.

this has been my favoriteplaceto go for dim sum in victoria. i haven't tried the regular menu though. we have been going regularly for years.

average. maybe it's theplaceto go for dim sum but the dinner isn't very impressive. the food is rather bland and lacking of flavour. the 5 spiced squid had no spice whatsoever and the wonton soup tasted like warm water rather than broth. the only reasonably tasting dish was the scallops and eggplant which had a bit of kick. i was also puzzled by the seating arrangement. all diners of asian decent were seated on one side of the restaurant whilst everyone else was on the other side. it was very obvious the seating was segregated. very odd. the staff were nice enough and i had the bonus of receiving 5 fortunes in my fortune cookie but apart from that it was pretty average and i've heard of better places in downtown.

dim sum yummm. haven't gone there in the evening. this review pertains specifically to dim sum. we have tried every single dim sumplacein victoria, multiple times. don mee is by far the best. the staff is friendly and the food is consistently great. we have a number of favorite dishes, but their leaf-wrapped sticky rice is a must-have each and every time!

tourist trap. thisplacetakes poor service to a new level. rude and unhelpful though just plain ignoring you. huge queues, long waits and greasy unpleasant food. no, no, no. do yourself a favor, get out of the town center and go to the fountain or better yet (unbelievably), the jade fountain.

this is where i go to get sum of the dim, and the food is always top notch. the cart ladies are pleasant and as a rule if you get there before 11:00 on a sunday no wait for a table. theplacedoes need a renovation and the mens washroom is subpar on all accounts

still the best. i have been going to don mee's for about 20 years...it still offers the best dim sum in victoria...
if you have not visited in the past couple years...you will notice some changes...stephen lam is no longer the owner and the quality had gone down a little bit since his departure from the restaurant..but in saying that is the onlyplacei go for dim sum...staff remain friendly ... you will never leave feeling anything less than full

not that bad, but if you're really craving chinese food this would be theplaceto go. also one of the only places in victoria to offer some good dim sum.
