good but uncomfortable. this place is good. i love theshrimpw/ gravy poboy but this places dining room is tiny and quite uncomfortable. people are constantly waiting for a table and standing around. you feel rushed and not a great place to eat and relax. more of a get in and get out type of place.

over-priced, but yummy.. one of the best roast beef sandwiches in the city, if only cause they put creole mustard on it. also it was 12 dang dollars!
on second thought, the roast beef was kind of dry and the gravy that was added to the sandwich kinda tasted like it was made from a packet.
cool atmosphere, warm and really quiet. lots of pictures on the wall and apparently you can add your own picture on the way out if nobody is noticing( you know who you are).
i will be back to try theshrimppoboy as soon as i can.
i just have to pawn a few things first.

as a teenager there was nothing better than an ice cold barqs andshrimppoboy. same now but replace barqs with a cold beer.  really a dynasty when it comes to no. tiny place that maybe seats 25. sit at the bar and get some local gossip. let the ladies make the poboy the way they make it. no reason to change a thing. watch the ditch when parking your car, you may not get out if you go in

located at 5240 annunciation street and serving up po-boys to locals as well as the occasional tourist since 1924, the only thing more unpretentious about domilise’s signage is the interior, a true “local’s only” sort of space where orders are placed at the counter upon entry with seats available at formica tables or barside.

consistently packed during peak hours, a steady trickle of traffic from open until close otherwise, domilise’s po-boys and bar has been family owned and operated since opening for just drinks in 1918, the sandwiches having since made them famous as fresh fried seafood and a variety of meats are offered up between crusty halves of leidenheimer bread.

visited just past 1pm on a tuesday, a man referred to by the bartender as “crazy dave” loudly reciting job as he slowly crunched through a sandwich of debris and zapp’s chips, it was to one large half-and-half peacemaker that i was treated mere minutes after seating, the ‘fully dressed’ option bringing ketchup, mayonnaise, hot sauce and lettuce atop friedshrimpand oysters, some bites sweet while others were briny – every one of them slightly different but thoroughly delicious.

one of my many stops in new orleans for famous eats. my dad had a catfish po boy and i had a friedshrimppo-boy. restaurant was deplorable and filthy beyond description. catfish po boy was excellent and theshrimppo boy was decent but theshrimpor cooked too hard and we're of the small variety ala popcorn. glad i went but i will probably hit the other places like parkway or back to mothers

worth the drive, the parking spot search and the line. the poboys are amazing, and my second favorite only to parkway. friendly staff, not much seating, so go early. fried oyster was delish. i hear people rave about the roast beef here, saying it's the best in town. it probably is, but i'm more of a fried poboy fan, so i stick withshrimpand oysters.

good po-boys,  probably a little bit overrated. the halfshrimpand half oyster is a must order. price is probaly on the expensive side. the fries are nice.

po boy heaven! probably the best po boy i've ever had. i had the smallshrimpand it was still huge. my husband had the hot sausage. the woman working the counter was so sweet. she let me and my husband sample between the 2 sausages (mild and hot), we chose the hot. you would probably miss it if you weren't paying attention. would recommend this place to anyone.

best poboy in the city, state, possibly the world.. i usually get theshrimpor oyster and almost feel like the fry the food right before they put it on your sandwich. the bread they use is made in nola and couldn't be a better fit for a poboy.

domilie’s is new orleans, it’s always up there in any list of best po boys in the city, and i was excited to find out why! it’s tucked away on a quiet, nondescript street well and truly away from the french quarter, which suited us just fine; while we loved the craziness of it all, it was nice to get out and see a different part of the city. we actually walked the full 5 miles (8km) from our hotel to domilise’s, taking our time and enjoying the stroll down magazine street, through the garden district, with a stop at district donuts sliders brew for a donut to fuel the journey . when we finally got the the iconic lemon yellow, weather boarded eatery, we were hungry and ready to put all those burnt calories back into our bellies, and then some. we were welcomed warmly like old friends overdue for a visit. we were happily and proudly guided through our options, and invited to please take a seat while our sandwiches were put together. it was like checking into the most wonderful sandwich hotel on earth! we ordered two po boys to share, the roast beef (top) and the friedshrimp(bottom), both

if you're looking to experience a classic new orleans neighborhood poboy joint, this is a good choice. pretty much of a dive, but in a good sense. just a classic, old-time, no-frills place. order your sandwich at the bar/counter. about 6 tables or so in the place. autographed pics from celebrity visitors on the walls. and the poboys are in my view good though not at the level of a place like parkway. i like theshrimppoboy here - and the way it is dressed with a touch of hot sauce.

a true dive! the ladies working were friendly and helpful. i loved the ketchup and hot sauce instead of tomato since i'm not a fan and always ask for no tomato anyway. theshrimpwas perfectly breaded and fried. super tasty! the bread was classic. i wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to get a poboy from here, but if i lived nearby or were in the neighborhood, it'd be my spot.

by far the best poboy. by far the bestshrimppoboy. they are a little expensive for poboys, and you really need to go at an odd time in order to avoid waiting outside. it is pretty cramped on the inside too. but, i guess it's all worth it for the poboy. maybe?

i had been dying to hear real southern accents, and the ladies behind the counter fulfilled this desire immediately. they were really sweet, and we could tell this was a popular neighborhood place.... we ended up trying two sandwiches here: the friedshrimpand the roast beef. theshrimphad a really delicious spicy/sweet sauce, and it was my favorite of the two. the roast beef was a little bit dry, but the sauce on it was amazing.

our first stop was domilise’s restaurant, which immediately reminded me of a smaller/southern version of a south buffalo bar. even though there were a large amount of tourists, you could tell there were some regulars in there too. we tried the roast beef (cut a little too thick and overcooked), friedshrimp(great mix ofshrimpand sauces) and fried oysters (hands down the best, the flavor of the oyster shined through the batter).
