one of my many stops in neworleansfor famous eats. my dad had a catfish po boy and i had a fried shrimp po-boy. restaurant was deplorable and filthy beyond description. catfish po boy was excellent and the shrimp po boy was decent but the shrimp or cooked too hard and we're of the small variety ala popcorn. glad i went but i will probably hit the other places like parkway or back to mothers

if you're looking to experience a classic neworleansneighborhood poboy joint, this is a good choice. pretty much of a dive, but in a good sense. just a classic, old-time, no-frills place. order your sandwich at the bar/counter. about 6 tables or so in the place. autographed pics from celebrity visitors on the walls. and the poboys are in my view good though not at the level of a place like parkway. i like the shrimp poboy here - and the way it is dressed with a touch of hot sauce.

po-boy for the not so poor boy. prices are a little higher than other po-boy establishments, but you get what you pay for. the history behind this place speaks for itself. i have been to nearly every other "po-boy spot" in neworleansand domilise's sits on a very high pedestal.

just ok. we hadn't been here in years and on a trip to nola this weekend, we stopped in on our way out for an oyster and shrimp poboy. our total was $35 for the two sandwiches, without drinks! and only about 7 or 8 oysters on the whole sandwich. there are better poboys in new orleans, without the wait, the tiny space and the bad restrooms. i love that it hasn't changed in 40 years -- it is really the real thing, as far as neworleanssandwich shops go, but we will forego this one on future trips, just better sandwiches out there to be had.

supposedly known for having the best fried shrimp po’ boys in town, domilise’s was also included in bourdain’s “no reservations” edition of neworleans(although we didn’t know this before we got there and the lady making the sandwiches told us – she obviously assumed that was where we had discovered them). we ordered one large fried shrimp po’ boy and one small “bourdain special”, which is a fried shrimp po’ boy wi

if you’re not careful, you’ll drive right by this place. i missed it twice! be warned, placing your order here is a little tricky. so when you walk in, look for a ticket dispenser, they will call your number, this is when you step up to the cash register and place your order. the menu is on the wall located behind you (so on the wall to your left as you walk in) and hand-written as is neworleansstyle. after you place your order, you pray and hope that a table will open up. if the po boy gods allow it, you will be given a place to sit. while waiting for your food, you can yonder over to the bar where you can get your choice of assorted cold drinks and zapp’s chips. then your order number is called and this is when you pay for your food. sooo, how did my experience here go? nothing like what i just described. we did everything that you could possibly do wrong! we almost got up and left without even paying! shrimp po boy

very real old new orleans.. one of the benefits of never re-decorating, is that when old and authentic come into style, you got something to sell, and sell it they do with prices higher than they ought to be for average neworleanspo-boys.

and i will take/send tourists there, as it is the is the real thing -- an authentic family owned sandwich shop where behind the counter, they speak "yat", darlin'.

classic nola poboy. everyone should come to domilises once in their life for either a roast beef or shrimp po-boy with a barq's rootbeer. it's a neworleansrite of passage.
that being said, i like other po-boys more than domilise's, but it is still a great sandwich.

i know this is a neworleansinstitution, but i've had better. my shrimp were greasy. the lack of seating made me feel rushed to eat. ordering drinks and food at two separate spots made was more of a hassle than efficient. i'll take mahoney's, liuzza's, or parkway over domilises.

the food is enjoyable and worth trying. the shrimp poboys have a nice fried thin-coated seasoning with a smear of cocktail sauce across fresh french bread dressed to near perfection. the atmosphere is what really sets this place apart from your average poboy joint with pictures of the manning brothers signed and plastered on the wall behind a small bar with a quick working bartender in his 80s. the place is small but so are many of the jewels neworleanshave to offer. i would definitely give this place another visit and not just because i am a hungry man.

mmmmmm. there is nothing like a po-boy from domilises. although it is frustrating waiting in line, the food is worth the wait. if you are visiting neworleansor if you have lived here all your life, you have got to try this place at least once, and then go back for seconds.

i recommend the shrimp, cheese, and gravy po-boy. it's not on the menu, but it's heaven in a loaf of french bread.

not as good as the hype but not bad. domilises certainly isnt a bad poboy shop. the oyster poboy is pretty good and there is a certain old neworleanscharm to the place. but if you listen to the hype and history of the place you would think its the best around which it isnt.
