great little gem! staff was wonderful and thefoodwas well-prepared! you get a lot of bang for your buck if you want a few things! cheaper than your average take away, better quality than a buffet! can't wait to go back.

best dim sum in town. cleaner than other dim sum restaurant. reasonable prices, not a bargain though. goodfoodso it is well worth the fair price. super crowded on sunday due to nearby asian & chinese churches.

dim sum is good, not great. i have eaten dim sum all over the us, and have traveled to japan twice and really enjoy authentic cuisine from other cultures. i was really surprised when i heard we had a dim sum house so close. i had been going to cary (only 10 min drive more) to neo-asia which has a much more authentic dim sum on sat. and sun. the dim sum house is more like fastfooddim sum and thefoodpreparation/selection is not as health concious as at neo-asia. the flavors are blander. even the red pepper sauce is greaser and no flavor. dim sum house has no fish at all on the menu!!! that alone lets you know its not authentic!! if you are hungry, it will be pricey to get full at dim sum.

updated: change of management. updated march 9, 2014 - this place has changed management and is no longer worth visiting. the size of the shrimp is smaller, we were served a cold dish and still charged for it even after mentioning it, and the pork buns are completely different and not good at all now. even the sauces have changed for the worse. too bad.

original review from april 2012:
i have very specific tastes when it comes to dim sum, and this place hits the mark. we're here once a month at max, yet they remember us every time we come in. never been disappointed with thefoodhere. don't let the slow weeknights fool you. they still deliver the goods even if you're the only person there. come on saturday for a classic and hectic experience!

best dim sum in entire triangle area -- competitive with nyc / la quality. this place is definitely the best dim sum restaurant in a 100 mile radius around raleigh, durham, chapel hill. there are plenty of seats, thefoodis always being pushed around in the carts with hot and fresh items always available. the price is extremely reasonable...with total spent per person (after being totally stuffed) to about $13. you can even order other dishes on the regular menu...and order takeout for each of their dim sum dishes with clear pictures of every single dish!

best dimsum (and chinese) in raleigh area. just got back from eating an amazing dinner at dim sum house!

i am a chinese-american who grew up in california eating authentic chinese food.

we moved to the raleigh area 5 years ago and have since then only found 2 authentic chinese restaurants: 1.) 35 restaurant in cary and 2.) grand asia marketfooddeli area in cary/ raleigh.

all that changed today upon our exquisite meal at dim sum house, which has instantly vaulted to the #1 spot in our selective charts.

we had a mix of dim sum and entrees, and everything was good. the menu is broad and includes some more exotic cuisine as well (ie - beef tendons/ ofals, etc.). we ordered several dishes that clearly take significant preparation to make (ie - braised beef, congee, etc.)

while not fancy/ posh, the decor/ location was clean and welcoming.

service was also very friendly (to us and our kids).

overall, our best chinesefoodexperience in nc

great find. my husband, mother, and i ate there this evening and were really impressed. the menu appears to be less americanized - you can order things like chicken feet if you so desire - but i think that speaks to the authenticity of it all. (though i may not exactly know authenticity in dim sum anyway.) bottom line: we were all pleased with thefoodand surprised at how inexpensive it was for how much variety we had experienced, and we will go back without a doubt.

best dim sum that i know of now as most have closed.foodwas good but service was ok. asked for dumplings and never saw any. we went on sunday morning at 10:30am and the lines were forming. if they can get the service and supply worked out, they will be the best dimsum in town. coming from la this was a very nice treat. prices were a little high but overall had a good meal.
