great decor, ok service. waiter spilt both glasses of water all over our table. manager just walked right by. they were all more interested in flirting with the all girls table, then giving us a decent service. no compensation given. no apology either. not worth coming back

the menu consists of southern classics food with a touch of asian flair. while you wait for your food, order a milkshake. we ordered a simple chocolate milkshake and a banana split milkshake. both were sweet, rich and tasty. you can opt for the toasted marshmallows milkshake with nutella if you want something adventurous. as for appetizers, i have to agree with the majority that the ahi tuna tacos is a must order, well seared on the outside and fresh in the middle, the asian slaw is not overpowering so that it doesn't mask the taste of the tuna.

one of my favourites... girl night out at its best. i try something different everytime i go but the maple-jalapeno scallops were so delicious!! i like to get the slushie mojito, and an entree of fried pickles when i go to deville.. the shepards pot pie is also a winner (rib meat).. the portions are huge. fried chicken with waffles is not an apetizer but a meal.(but who cares, you can get a doggybag). yes it's a little pricy but i think it's worth it for the service/atmosphere/food/drinks/quality you get. not ideal place for a couple, more for groups of friends who are having a good time.

it took lots of convincing to get me to go to deville's. why? well i had just eaten lunch and i was full. but you know what, i decided to go and take a couple bites off of isa's and my bro's gf's meal. and am i ever happy i did! deville dinerbar is located on stanley a tad north of ste-catherine. it's funny because as we were eating on their terrasse, i turned around i noticed we were in my friend cat's old old apartment's  courtyard (from about 13 years ago!). funny. anyhoot, this place is quite large, for downtown at least, with at least 40 seats on the terrasse and at least 100 and then some inside.  now, this place looks like a fancy diner, i loves it: marble tables, fancy lamps and cool banquettes. it has a very nice feel to it. it's very chic and fancy yet feels homy. i still felt underdressed as i usually do... this restaurant serves lunch between 11 and 4. they have a huge menu. a tad too huge but hey, they have good stuff on there so i don't mind so much. they also have a lunc

the divas had plans to spend saturday afternoon checking out the montreal food truck scene with vegan vixen, sweet pea, bellatrix, p’tit frère & co.  unfortunately, the weather refused to cooperate so we had to scramble to find last minute reservations.  it is generally difficult to find reservations on a saturday night., but for 8 people it is nearly impossible.  though not the simplest of tasks, we’re never easily deterred and when you’re a diva, things tend to work out for you!  after numerous calls and a somewhat desperate plea via twitter, deville dinerbar came through for us big time.  it’s times like this we absolutely love our diva life!  and to top things off, we got a reservation on the coveted terrace, something a girl made sure to point out when she approached us, eyes wide, and said “they never reserve on the terrace, how did you get that”

epic!. funky, hip resto that plays on the diner theme a bit. this is not mel's diner where you go for fried eggs and coffee with a hang-over. this is a cool, trendy resto smack in the middle of downtown on stanley btwn ste-catherine and de maisonneuve. don't expect diner prices cuz it is not a diner. with a bar, dark lighting with purple chandeliers, staff in black and cool deco, do not expect to see flo. i read some reviews before coming so i had an idea what to order. the prime rib dip was like a rostbeef dip sandwich but a 1000 times better. the roll was like melt in your mouth butter, and the meat was omg tender. came with a side of skinny fries. cooked to perfection. i tried to have just 1 but they were incredible and i had to eat them all. meal was huge, so no need for an entre. sandwich was $20 +/- but certainly reasonable considering the quality of the ingredients and the size. dishes on the menu include quality ingredients like prime rib, lobster and shrimp, so the prices were totally reasonable considering what you got. my friend had the tuna taco which she loved. for desert i had the deville food cake. $14 sounds crazy, but it was not a slice of cake, it was actually a whole cake + a scoop of ice cream. could easily feed 3-4 people and was the best chocolate cake ever. at 6'4" and 230lbs, i am a big guy with an appetite to match, but it was the 1st time in 20yrs that i did not (could not) finish my desert. budget $40 per person with no alcohol and pace yourself cuz everything is huge. if you think $20 for such a sandwich is expensive, then go to mcdonald's for a mcribb. resto is not that big so going as a big group would not be advised. 2-4 people per table is just perfect. 100 feet from peel metro, and 25 feet from indoor parking (it is downtown, so expect downtown parking prices). over-all it was awesome. know what to expect and you will love it. i repeat, this is not mel's diner

all the comforts of an old time diner in a posh, modern diner with hot pink lighting. i am a fan of a round table or in this case, a semi circle booth. it's comfortable and easy to have a conversation with everyone at the table. there is an up stairs as well as a terrace so lots of options when choosing seating.

great food! the drinks were delicious! paul the bartender likes playing the game "trust the bar tender". trust him! mmmm mmmm martini's

all i have to say is "meh". we came here after a concert at the bell centre. i agree with everyone else about the prices, way too high for what you get. i had the tomato soup and a garden salad which was about $17?? it took at least 10 mins to even get a drink menu and there was barely 3 other groups in the whole restaurant. atmosphere is cool, id come here again for drinks but not for dinner

good diner food, lots of drink specials. deville truly is a "diner" and a "bar". it's a hip, young joint that seemed to be filled with locals from the university. i'm sure the drink specials bring them in - there really are a lot of choices and some really creative concoctions! but that's not all folks... they really do have a wide-ranging menu too that's also very creative. honestly, the burgers are interesting, but the hamburger meat itself is quite average to me. it's all about the extras and condiments with these burgers. i tried the fat cat burger which contains a bbq shortrib- i tried that alone and it was packed with flavor and had a nice crunchy exterior. you will get messy eating these burgers - just check out the pics for how huge they are - a normal person cannot unhinge their jaw to eat it. the appetizers and sides we had were spectacular. the philly cheesesteak rolls had the best seasoned and extremely tender beef inside while the cheese sauce had a beer cheese taste to it. the crunchy wrap on the outside really worked well. and the mac n cheese was very good too. loaded with cheese and had a slight sweetness to it. but the star of the show was dessert - the beignets. i will dream of these. came out super hot and fresh. sort of like donut holes rolled in cinnamon and powdered sugar - but wayyy better! and the sauces that come on the side were great - chocolate and caramel. can't decide which? have both at the same time! service was slow, but not abnormal for the area.

deville dinerbar en plein milieu du centre-ville sur la rue stanley au nord de sainte-catherine est en résumé une bonne place où manger un burger. bonne ambiance avec un long bar pour les amateurs. sinon on peut voir un petit look rétro dans les tables et la décoration. ce n’est pas la place avec le plus de choix de burger, disons qu’il y a peu de choix dans les variantes de burgers. j’ai été obligé d’y aller avec le burger classique, le burger deville. comme vous pouvez voir sur la photo, celui-ci est appétissant au premier regard. les frites sont aussi très bonnes. vous remarquerez que celles-ci sont un peu comme des frites mcdo, mais en moins grosse. c’est un peu comme des mcdo juliennes.   le burger comprenait deux boulettes de boeuf, pour être certain d’avoir de la misère à se le mettre en bouche. ce qui est un peu décevant, car personne ne veut avoir à manger son hamburger en l’ouvrant. disons que c’est dur le rentrer dans la bouche pour prendre une bouchée. voici une photo nasty

very bad ending. last saturday i went to deville for a birthday party that had been planned well in advance. we made the reservation stating it was a birthday party for a group of 9. we got the confirmation and all was good.

we showed up on time for the reservation (two people were a bit late, but we had drinks while waiting).

our server was very nice, but it was hard to get his attention, even if we were sitting besides their station (which added to the noice).

the food we got was good (mainly burgers, salads and shakes), but not worth the price.

when it was time for desert, our waiter told us we had to hurry up because another group was getting our table soon! we were barely there for 2 hours. we spoke to management who proceed to tell us that we lied and that we were aware that there was a time limit to our stay and that yes we had to leave... now.

let me tell you i’m never going back to that place !

décor: nice, but too cramped. good music, but a bit too loud

food: good, but not worth the price

service: waiter was nice, but not very present. if you get up to go to the bathroom, but ready to get insulted by waitresses because you’re in their way.

price: too expensive for the experience

management: sucks

this place is so overrated. the food is average but if you want to pretend you are someone and like to wear leopard skin pattern clothes you will love it. you can do way better for that kind of money.

yep, il était temps qu’un resto se décide à offrir de quoi de nouveau, original et abordable, au centre-ville, pour faire changement des fast food ou autres places conventionnelles. plaisirs coupables, du chef jean-françois plante, s’était essayé en 2011, mais en vain. deville dinnerbar se décrit comme un classique ’’diner’’ américain réinventé au goût du jour.

horrible experience. we had to ask for water, the drinks had hardly any alcohol in them, and although they tried to fix our megarita, it was still bad. the waitress messed up an order and took away our appetizer before we were done. the entire menu is horribly overpriced and the food wasn't that good.
