unique and fun!. i feel like i am walking into a friend's house when i eat here. janet will sit down with you, tell you about thefreshmeats that she has in the fridge that she can cook for you, and will gladly offer vegetarian options if need be. pro-tip: order the empanadas. order several. get them with every filling she will stuff into them. and take home the leftovers; they reheat beautifully in the oven.

for the reviewers that have had negative experiences here: if you have questions, just ask. janet is the most forthcoming and chatty person i know. tell her that you have never eaten there before and that you are willing to try something new and interesting. if you think the steam trays look sketchy, tell her you'd like something else or order from the menu. there are limitless options because she will cook, quite literally, whatever it is that you want.

three words: friendly,freshand delicious!!. janet! thank you for being wonderful hostess and cook!! we were four students from the 2013 air war college at maxwell afb who found your cafe thru urbanspoon *with a 95% rating. we thoroughly enjoyed "the two men on a horse," the cuban sandwich and the beef tongue stew all withfreshingredients and home-cooked awesomeness!!! we are foodies and we know good food when we see it! don't the the 5% comments keep you away from trying this place!! we will be back!!

i'm in love. the friendliest service by far. it's like eating with family. janet was so accommodating to my vegan request unlike other restaurants that look at you like your speaking a foreign language. i'm a very hard to please when it comes to what i eat and the food janet prepared wasfresh& lovely. absolutely wonderful salad with light sauces. perfectly seasoned and perfectly grilled veggies. the smoothies are amazing!!! so amazing that i had one with dinner and one for dessert. if you love clean eating this is your place. you will fall in love...just like me!!!!

cheers!. i was recommended to d'road cafe some time ago by leo, brother of janet, at earth fare where he was previously employed with produce. so i know the vegetables are at the peak of freshness! me and my mom very rarely go out to eat anymore since i've became a fruit and veggie head. unfortunately, the gump isn't very catering to simplefreshflavors not smothered in grease. but d'road may just be the exception! can't honestly say i would of had a better experience at grandmas house (no offense grandma). we were passionately greated from the moment we walked in and each prepared a special meal just to our tastes. the veggies were cooked perfectly and the simple flavors spoke through. the meal itself was only one piece of the puzzle though. janets loving and welcoming personality alone was enough for our return. highly recommending to all my friends.

this is truly a gem! i'm glad we found this restaurant thru urbanspoon. the owner knows what true hospitality is about. we had bread & arepitas with garlic sauce! just delish! then we enjoyed the carne asada. everything tasted so delicious! she even madefreshkiwi and peach juice for our kids. and the kids enjoyed a great dessert. we could not have been any happier to eat here! we are coming back!

excellent!. my husband found this adorable cafe online. we went this morning for arepas, a traditional venezuelan street food often sold with breakfast or as a snack, and empanadas. delicious does not begin to describe it. made to order,freshingredients, and such pleasant service. the owner, who is from venezuela, has such pride in her food and a passion for serving others. she treated us like guests in her home, offering us free coffee and talking with us as she cooked from the kitchen. we will be returning for lunch later this week, and dinner in the near future! local, healthy, authentic, and a true pleasure! we paid $14 for both of us, and had a much better breakfast experience than anywhere else in a long time. highly recommended!

delicious!!!!. oh wow...freshdelicious food! vibrant, creative, delightful owner and chef. this place is a must go! everything i had was delicious ( chicken pie, salad, soup, dessert). i over did it because i was so excited to try all the different flavors. truly inspired cooking and living;). no other place quite like it in montgomery!

my montgomery favorite. we came for breakfast that was so good we took lunch to go! the brother and sister who run the charming cafe are very welcoming and will make anything to order. we tired empanadas, arepas and a cachapa that were allfreshand flavorful, but our favorite was the sandwich that we took to go: ham, egg, bacon, dressed on homemade bread. i wish i had discovered this place sooner!

amazing. this little family- owned restaurant was very refreshing compared to all the other chains we have been going to. janet and her family run the place and cook amazing food. they don't have a set menu because she basically will make whatever you ask her to make. i had no idea what i wanted and janet said "don't worry, i'll make you something delicious." she made me an empanadas and something else that i cannot remember the name of, but i was impressed. all the ingredients tasted so fresh. their smoothies are made with just fruit and nothing else...no sugar or anything, so they really don't taste like the smoothies we are used to...more like reallyfreshjuice, so good. everyone there is so friendly too. we are returning for sure!

venezuelan food with emphasis on quality and freshness. they will make anything you wish here if they have the ingredients. i asked for something with fish and i got a beautiful tilapia filet cooked with at least 6 different vegetables. this place is family owned by great people who take pride in their establishment.

the restaurant was built from scratch (it used to be an office) by one of the owners and brother of the cook. although it is run by a venezuelan family, the cook spent several years in europe and south america as an interpreter and tour guide. she speaks many languages and cooks many cuisines.

the menu is vegetarian friendly but also features beef, pork, chicken and fish in imaginative and creative ways. i had a cheese empanada with garlic sauce and grilled plantain in addition to my tilapia. when i asked for the fish she said she would cook it for me however i wanted. i said, cook it like you would want it. she did. it was delicious. my husband had congri (black beans and rice). she came out from the kitchen to pour some olive oil on his dish because she said it brightened the flavor. you must ask for the dessert. just do it! there is only one and you must have it before you die.

while we were there, every customer who walked in the door got a greeting and a hug. they've only been open a short time and they have already made deep connections with some of their customers.

please don't forget the fruit "smoothies". they are not really smoothies in the sense that we think of them. they are light fruit drinks made withfreshfruit and the variety depends on what ever the best fruit is available. i had strawberry/banana and my husband had kiwi. delicious and not filling with the meal. actually light and not heavily sweet.

nothing on the menu is over $8.50 and some of the appetizers are two and three dollars. they offer a daily special ($7.50) of meat and three that includes a few southern items thrown in with the south american fare. they also serve breakfast each morning. you can have a traditional venezuelan breakfast or they offer a southern option as well. i enjoyed the food here immensely but the thing i enjoyed most was meeting a great family who are bringing their best to our town. i hope we will rise to occasion and support an interesting and excellent new restaurant in our midst. i will be back and i will be bringing my friends.
