cuatro restaurant

wow! this is all we could say after eating at cuatro. the spicy tuna nachos are a must! i ordered crab cakes for dinner and they were great as well. my husband ordered the classicstylefish of the day and it was amazing! the sauce, the mashed potatoes, the fish was cooked perfectly ... it was all perfect together. highly recommend!!!

this little gem was such a treat, the housestyleahi was an impeccable blackened cajun fish that was cooked perfectly. i enjoyed how much they cooked the fish more than mamas fish house, which was twice the price! if you have the time, go!

this little restaurant is a hidden gem!!! it has a wonderfully small menu with exceptional choices. the food and service is always exceptional. my favs are the spicy tuna nachos, the asianstylepupu steak, and the hawaiian fish of the day, served n one of 4 styles!!! it is bring your own alcohol and is best to make reservations!!!

we settled on some appetizers, with the first being their asianstylepupu steak with mushroom and truffled teriyaki sauce. holy crap it was huge! we couldn’t believe the size of this “appetizers”! it could easily be my mains! anyway, the size of it aside, the steak was beautifully cooked to medium rare, ono-gasmic mushroom and truffle teriyaki sauce complements the beef spectacularly.

outdoor seating ? !. the restaurant is very teeny, but highly recommended, on a rainy :( saturday night, the only table available was outside.
we were sitting in a grocery store parking lot, with a view of a thrift store and the police station. can't comment on the wine list, since no alcohol was allowed on the sidewalk.was it worth it? surprisingly yes! the spicy ahi nachos were unique, delicious and beautifully presented. we ordered a house salad of fresh local greens with a cilantro dressing. the colors were vibrant and portions huge.i would prefer the dressing on the side, but i didn't ask for it, so ...we all ordered monchong, prepared in their classicstylewith a light butter,lemon and caper sauce, rock shrimp , asparagus, and truffle mashed potatoes. it was tasty and well prepared. the very animated and friendly waiter recommended the ice cream dessert for the five of us to share......two scoops of local ice cream and adorned with gorgeous fresh fruit and caramel and chocolate sauce. actually, just a perfect topper with 5 sharing. appetizer $13, main course $27. dessert $11.

cuatro = awesome. we were in maui 1/13/11 - 1/27/11. had eaten at cuatro last march, so were anxious to try it again. went with a couple that was travelling with us. we feel the food is incredible. very small dining room, small staff (4 servers / 4 cooks) but they don't miss a beat. service is very good. not only good, but casual (which we liked). the food is like no other you will find in maui.
the fusion of flavors is very interesting and effective.
we ate there twice in 2 weeks. had the asianstylepupu steak. get ready for a taste explosion in your mouth! tender steak, sliced across the grain, flavored with finely minced garlic, hot sauce, truffle oil and other 'secret' ingredients. my new challenge is to try to duplicate the flavors!
ordered a margarita (made with patron tequila! yay!!) served in an iced tea size glass - another resounding yay!
the crab cakes were excellent, the salads were made with fresh, crisp greens.
the shrimp tacos were very delicious!
price = very reasonabe! two people + appetizers + 2 drinks each + 2 entries + shared dessert...approx. $150.
we all felt this was very reasonable for the quality of food, service, and atmosphere.
