crawdaddy's

i have been meaning to go here for some time after a recommendation. finally did it and the experience was exceptional. it's a vast menu and all dishes we attempted were excellent. prawn curry, seafood chowder, seafood platter, chicken wings, oysters and fried calamari. in addition the staff is knowledgeable, friendly and the service is really top notch. loved our dining experience over here. a definite recommend.

had a unplanned sunday dinner. probarly the best green curry prawns i have ever had. even had some left over for a very impressive lunch the next day. the portions were generous and well priced. will be back for sure.

finally had my first crawdaddy's experience. i had been on the hunt for the perfect steak and finally found it. had the fillet and it lived up to all of my expectations. juicy and soft. perfectly done.
the rest of the table had burgers which also received double thumbs up.
great service as well.

crawdaddy's brooklyn is great for a group of people. the vibe is busy, hectic and noisy - but it's great fun.

the food portions are huuuuuge and deeeelicious! and also well-priced.

service is good and the decor is rustic.

we had battered deep-fried squid heads, chicken schnitzel, a burger and 'crawchows' - roasted spud skins, bacon pieces smothered with mozzarella, cheddar cheese, salsa, avo dip and a jalapeño. oh my gosh, this is definitely a nice dish to share with friends. and the onion rings ...

on 18 november 2014 we had lunch again at the brooklyn crawdaddy's.  the onion rings superb!  hein had a jalapeno cheese bacon burger with chips.  my word, that sauce is just soooo good!!!!

i had the starter portion (r69) of cannelloni calamari filled with spinach, feta & haloumi (although one can't taste the haloumi), smothered in mozzarella cheese and swimming in a tomato sauce.  goodness, this was a huge portion!!!!  and sooo yummy!!!!!

then i had to end of my meal with something sweet ... they call it a cold chocolate dessert (can't remember exactly how they spelled it ... chokalate ...)  its choc mousse layered with marie biscuits in a form, served with a maraschino cherry and juice.  heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!  absolutely the perfect size dessert, not too sweet, but oh so heavenly!!!!!!

prices are really reasonable and portions huge!!  grab a few friends and go and visit the brooklyn branch.

great food, vibe and the ice cream and chocolate sauce is a must have. martin our waiter was excellent. thank you for the great service! :)

fantastic little place, fantastic atmosphere, the feel of the place is impeccable...staff were very friendly, always popping in to make sure you don't need anything...food was great, large portions and at very good prices...

best steak in town. their cheese and jalapeño sauce was amazing and so good i order it everytime i go back. service was outstanding. always have a good time here.

very busy and very loud during lunch hours in the week, buzzing with employees from nearby companies enjoying a pub lunch, especially on a friday afternoon. don't go if you want a quiet romantic meal..
the sloppy joe burger was cooked to perfection, definitely ranked as one of my all time favorite burgers

as a steak fanatic i can say crawdaddy's has the best quality meat in town. service is good but frankly if your meat is of this quality then they can serve it on a paper plate and i will still be happy. be sure to order medium to rare as the best pieces are kept for the real meat lovers.

so i was craving a nice tender juicy steak for brunch, i go to crawdaddy's and they inform me that the kitchen only opens at 11:30. so i said i wouldn't mind waiting and the waiter was very attentive and apologetic for the weight...the service was brilliant, ambiance fantastic and the steak was exactly what i was looking for! hot juicy 500g of fillet is now sitting in my belly and i could not have been more satisfied! the side salad was however a little plain, but other than that i have no complaints. merci!

crawdaddy's currently have six other offerings (that i know of): brooklyn, menlyn, centurion, silverlakes, rustenburg and tzaneen, and is a franchise that boasts twenty (20) years experience, but this is the first branch that i have visited. 

crawdaddy's motto: "for great seafood, steaks and asian fusion foods". i am going to begin with the fact that to offer asian on the menu at a pub and steakhouse is an unusual mix but their steaks were good. their prawns come from india, their oysters from lüderitz (namibia)and there are a lot of crab dishes on the menu so i really should have asked where they come from..

notable steak toppings that caught my eye on our visit:
jalapeno: jalapenos in cheese sauce with a three (3) cheese crust and bacon bits.
magic mushroom: mushroom sauce, sautéed mushrooms and mozzarella. 
medallion: mushroom sauce, capers, roast peppers and halloumi.
transylvania: garlic butter, garlic sauce and roasted garlic cloves. 
rossini: chicken livers in a creamy wine, mushroom, onion and green pepper sauce. 

*we were served by matthew, our knowledgable and helpful waiter who gave us some of the best service that i have received anywhere ever in pretoria so a notable mention to him!*

*recommendation: in terms of well-priced food in a casual setting, crawdaddy's franchise is a landmark in pretoria known for its prawns, lüderitz oysters and steak.

good food, a lively atmosphere and very friendly service! the menu is quite reasonable regarding prices and has something for every craving. i would recommend the grilled chicken breasts - juicy yet cooked to perfection.

we have visited crawdaddy's on many occasions. this is always the first place i suggest when we go out with friends and family for lunch or dinner and it is a great dining experience close to every time we go there. most recently we invited a bunch of friends to join us for dinner at crawdaddy's brooklyn (which according to me is the best one of the group) and we made a booking early the morning to avoid the disappointment of not getting a table. when we got there we were greeted with a warm welcome as always and told them we had a booking for 8 people. the manager then told us we need to sit at a 4 seater which was also booked by someone else because a group of very sweaty men have been sitting at our table since lunch and they were still drinking. i then realized that they were only 3 guys sitting at a table for 8. i didn't understand why they weren't simply asked to swap with us. until i realized they were friends with the manager!! "not cool at all bro" i whispered in my head as we began to wait there uncomfortably. trying to squeeze in at this table for 4, standing around awkwardly in a restaurant where i shouldve been sitting, they finally gave us a table 40 minutes later. usually this doesn't happen and it was exactly what i wanted to avoid. the fact that we waited there with the hope of eventually settling down at the table we booked where everyone has their own chair, brings me to the quality of food and service that i am used to getting at crawdaddy's.we always start with oysters. not just any oysters, no sir. new orleans oysters!! this is an oyster, usually quite large, topped with sour cream, a fresh salmon roll and a mild fresh salsa. they also never forget to bring the utterly important red tabasco and black pepper. we tend to struggle not washing this down with a golden tequila and so should you. i've ordered many different variations of oysters at many different places, trust me, this is the oyster you want to put in your mouth. they have a massive menu as many places do but, the difference is that they actually accomplish success on every single dish. they don't try to be something their not and they don't put something on the menu that they cant pull off. i would suggest a combo with half chicken (in any one of their fantastic flavours) and calamari with their oh so tasty lemon butter sauce. or a beef fillet and prawn combo, or a chowder which somehow always seems to make it's way onto our table. whatever you choose, it will most likely be a wise choice. their seafood is great, the chicken, delish, as well as the red meats and every variation thereof.  i have never found myself complaining about service from their waiters and even less often had even close to a bad meal.it is a great place for almost any occasion, whether it's friends or family going out for a meal and a few drinks, or a romantic night out with your choice of gender, i guarantee you'll have a great time.ps. eat their spinach!

i have been a fan of crawdaddy's for a long time...and have been left satisfied every time. a great and extensive food menu and wine list. i don't normally eat oysters but boy oh boy i love their oysters special with all the trimmings. the staff is always friendly and efficient and the place just has a great vibe. a bit cramped though. overall a pleasurable experience.

i have always had amazing service and great food at this branch. their kingklip is a must and the garlic bread is also to die for :) will definitely go back
