cozy's cafe

cozy's cafe in kansas. i was looking at urban spoon for a restaurant near my hotel in overland park, kansas. i came upon cozy's cafe and thought the food looked amazing, so i hired a cab and got a ride over there. i walked in, not knowing if i should seat myself or if they would seat me. so after a little bit standing there and looking foolish, they finally told me i could seat myself. the waitress brought me water then left without asking if i'd like anything else to drink.(coffee). so once she camebacki then asked. after seeing the crepes, i figured it would be a good choice. i decided to get the seasonal fruit crepes. they were 9.77 including tax. after they brought them out, i tried them. -honestly, they weren't that good, it tasted like they had put yogurt in it, which wasn't on the menu, and they weren't great quality for the cost. if i ever come back, i don't plan on eating there ever again...

not a good choice. my husband and i have passed this little place many times and i always suggested we try it for breakfast sometime. unfortunately, we did yesterday. although we received menus as soon as we sat down we were forgotten for about 15 minutes. i received my drink (milk) but my husband waited and waited and waited for the coffee he ordered to arrive. finally, a waitress (who i want to say seemed greek) arrived to take our order and when we asked about the coffee her answer was an abrupt "the coffee machine is acting up - you'll get it when it's ready" said as if we were bugging her. breakfast arrived. my scrambled eggs looked like the bottom of a cookie sheet -like they where probably cooked as a sheet full and cut to order. my husband's eggs benedict was cold. and, our biscuits and gravy were very bland. i like ketchup with my hashbrowns -so i immediately asked for ketchup-and our waitress must have forgotten this request taking the 5 stepsbackto the counter-cause she stood at the counter-did paperwork, talked to co-workers, delivered all her guest checks to all her tables, yadda yadda yadda-i got up and got my own damn ketchup. we usually give a restaurant another try or two just cause everyone has an off day once in a while but we're not comingbackto cozy's ever.

tasty but overpriced. i ordered lamb chops last night, they were tasty, but very skimpy. i was told i would get two chops, i believe it was one chop, cut in half. i have never seen such a skinny lamb chop, to say it was a quarter inch thick would be generous. i favor local restaurants and have had breakfast here before, but i will not gobackfor dinner.

very friendly and nice service. we stopped in for breakfast on a saturday, my husband and i both liked it. we plan on goingbackto try the lasagna and baklava.

really good, clean, excellent service-check update. had breakfast there over the weekend and it was very tasty. very good blueberry pancake. the eggs etc came out done perfectly as ordered. the price is average and the menu is not elaborate but appealing. oh, and the coffee was really good (it's surprising how often this detail is overlooked). i suggest you give it a try. i'm anxious to gobackand try dinner.

i hate to mess with peoples livelyhoods but i've eaten here quite a bit now and have noticed that the owner is somewhat a control freak and when it's crowded things get a little harried and disorganized. the owner has to be the one to take your order etc. and when it's busy that just makes the whole operation chaotic. also, the girl with the glasses looks so unhappy you'd swear she was going to hang herself in the bathroom any minute. i think the owner needs to chill a little-i see micromanaging at it's worst. the food continues to be good, they do need a little more selection for breakfast, i really don't like it as well as santa fe cafe and i'm not related to them or anything like that i really just like it somewhat better and have never been disappointed with anything there.

cozy's. ate there for the fist time today. very clean and bright. the owner, who waited on us was also very nice.

as for the food, we had a hamburger & fries. it was ok, but the bread (bun) was old, as it kinda fell apart. the meat was good, but the bun was much too dry . the fries were tasty and hot. also,, the grilled onions on the burger added a nice flavor.

i plan on goingback& trying other things on the menu.
