cozy corner restaurant

still my favorite barbecue. my love of cozycornerbegan years ago on my finding of their barbecued cornish hens. since then i have moved to my current favorite, pork rib tips, and always washed down with the best sweet tea in memphis. their sauce has surpassed my other favorite, interstate barbecue. the rib tips are smothered in it and i don't mind getting it all over my face and hands, just be sure to have multiple napkins handy.

september 25, 2018 · by willoughbyandy · in barbecue, southeast, tenneessee · leave a comment. one of the spots on my memphis barbecue ‘to-do” list (along with being on the 29 bbq bucket list and garden ‘n gun’s “bbq bucket list”) is cozycornerrestaurant, near downtown.  we arrived around 6:00 for “second dinner”.  owned and operated by raymond robinson and his family since the late 70s, cozycorneris a neighborhood cornerstone.  raymond’s daughter was seated at a table just inside the door and she spoke to everyone that came in – and many spoke to her first, by name.  they smoke and server standard meats, but are best known for their barbecued cornish hens.

cozycornerhad the cheapest prices, the best service, and greatest tasting bbq from every shop i tried in town. this is one of those hole-in-the-wall shops that is definitely a must try if you visit memphis!

bbq cornish hens!?

the cozycorneris a modest establishment in a small strip center. ordering is done at a counter and the food brought fairly quickly to the table.

on of their signature items is their barbecued cornish hen. normally this bird is small and not worth picking over a bunch of tiny bones. this was the biggest cornish hen that i’ve ever seen. it was the size of chickens in foreign countries that aren’t mass produced and pumped full of whatever. that would make the cozycornercornish hen about half the size of an american rotisseried chicken that you can get in most grocery stores. and it was might tasty! that would be something to go out of my way for if anywhere near memphis.

the ribs, beans and slaw were also all very good. the only disappointment was the barbecued spaghetti. never had it before and i could do without ever having it again.

in a town where bbq is king it is easy to get lost in the sea of smoked meats, but cozycornerstands alone. the beef sandwich is one of the best if not the best i've had. the cornish hen is out of this world and all of their sides seem to be homemade. the service is also second to none with a happy "hello" and "have a blessed day" on exit. if you are ever in memphis just ask a local...they'll point you to cozy corner!

at thecornerof north parkway and manassas in downtown memphis, meat drips overs coals daily, drawing in crowds of barbecue lovers from all over this ‘que-lovin’ country. cozy corner’s barbecue pit it’s a cozy corner; a small and humble place with no bells and whistles, no tourist traps and no large wooden statues for kids to get a picture with-just one of the best places in memphis to get real deal memphis-style charcoal pit bar-b-q.

pretty good. the chicken was outstanding, as people have mentioned. my friend got the pulled pork sandwich. i found it odd that it was served on a hoagie bun. the sauce was really good and the ladies who worked there on saturday were all really sweet. i would recommend cozycornerfor an original memphis-style experience.

if you want to experience memphis style ribs, then head straight for cozycornerfor their dry spare ribs. the perfect combination of spice run and smoke on a meaty and juicy pork spare rib.

the best bbq ribs i ever tasted. i went to memphis on vacation from irvine, ca. with family. we heard about the memphis bbq ribs . after going online and searching for the best we decided to go to cozycorneragainst the wishes of my wife who had wanted to go to a fancy place and had a great ribs dinner. the reviews somewhat convinced her to go along with our choice.we were not disappointed at all. a great place for quality ribs.

the best bbq in memphis tennessee, i do not care what the other's say they must have not been to cozy corner, how in the heck do that place on madison get the number 1 spot, they had to pay the writers in memphis for that vote. really i have been many places cozycornerstill got it in memphis tennessee. the only thing i really want them to do is please do not sit down and take customer orders it just do not look good and seem to laid back but yall got some good bbq ok...i know our feet hurt but when its a long line it will move faster if you just stand up just my fyi...

for both providing great bbq to end our stay in memphis and convincing me to never eat mayonnaise from a sketchy restaurant again, cozycornerearns 3 cherries.

as a memphian, i have my favorite bbq joints that i frequent in town. however, i have heard nothing but amazing things about cozycornerbut had never been there myself. as a true memphis foodie, i take bbq very seriously. therefore, i found it necessary to try this landmark eatery. my friend katherine came in town last week to see me, so obviously we had to get bbq while she was here. everyone knows you can't visit this town and not stop for some good pork. we pulled up to cozycornerand notice its nothing special on the outside. this is definitely your no-frills kind of place , which usually leads to the best kind of grub. we get in line at the counter, order our food, and find a seat. you don't have many options at cozy corner: pork, beef, cornished hen plus a few side items. and, seriously, who orders beef at a bbq place? katherine and i both get the pulled pork sandwich with two sides . i choose corn and baked beans , and katherine chooses corn and coleslaw . overall, katherine a

best in memphis. for us who are really about this city, cozycorneris the place to go for bbq. the ribs are awesome. i suggest going with hot for the sauce choice, however be aware ... hot is hot.

even the bbq baloney sandwich is good.... and i hate baloney.

i can happily say that cozycorneris worth the effort. while i may have been disappointed in the cornish hen, the charcoal cooked ribs and the still tingling on my lips sauce more than make up for the laggards. i may still have a long way to go on my rounds through the memphis bbq hot spots, but cozycorneris near the top of my list.
