this was an awesome dinning experience. we loved the atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. i had the game burger and it was very flavorful ( not to gamey). the spicey collard greens were the best i've ever had. the appitizer called cabeza de ajo was verygoodbut did not have enough pieces of bread. the baked potato ice cream desert was excellent. and it looks just like a baked potato. we really enjoyed this place.

great place. what a fun place. stopped in for a lunch and margarita. we had the jerk wings and mahi mahi tacos. one of the best fish tacos that i have had and the jerk wings were wonderful.goodmargarita also - just wish it were a little bigger. prices are reasonable; but not cheap.

wonderful! i got a great appetizer oaxacan chile relleno that was filled with goat cheese, fried with a flaky, crunchy batter and covered in green chili sauce and pumpkin seeds. be sure to order this! i got the mescal margarita which was yummy. not too tart. the loaded baked potato was ridiculously big but so tasty. my main course was just good- not great. i got the game steak. it was missing seasoning in the meat- the gravy wasgoodthough.

though bbq is in the name, barbeque is only one portion of their rather large menu. they also have steaks, burgers, seafood, and yes, new mexican cuisine. we went here to add a bit of diversity to our diet, and so i settled on the pulled pork bbq sandwich. apparently the smothered in salsa diablo was featured on the "heat seekers" show. they brought mine on the side, and it's definitely a sizzling red chile blend. but nothing overwhelming. in fact we thought it was quite tasty, and i dipped my wonderfully cooked fries into it throughout the meal. couldn't really tell you if the pulled pork was anygoodon its own, because it was completely drenched in the chipotle barbeque sauce - just as advertised. the brioche bun is perfect for handling the moist sandwich, and managed to stay firm. overall, an excellent barbeque sandwich. mrs. rjg, despite the premise of why we were there, ended up ordering the chile relleno with the christmas chile. she reports that the cheese was fantastic (asadero she suspects), and both the red and green had splendid flavors and a nice kick. our first meal here was clearly a success!

not impressed!. interesting to read other comments about how poor the service was here! the service at this place was disgraceful, possibly the worst i've ever experienced!
in 25 minutes, i sat and waited, then went to the hostess and asked for a menu, then waited, then went back to the hostess to ask for service, then waited, then ordered a beer which never came, then ordered it again, then waited, then left.
dear owners, please take note: your service staff is killing your business.
aside from the non-existent service, the place was rundown and dirty. could use agoodscrub, or a hose! and you may want to consider not allowing dogs in an establishment that serves food. there were 2 there during my "visit".
there are lots of great places in santa fe to eat. give this one a pass!

there are manygoodrestaurants in santa fe. this is not one of them. the food was mediocre at best, the service was sluggish and awkward and the setting is chaotic. they also consider themselves to be a bbq restaurant, yet have only three bbq dishes on the menu.

so helpful!. when we arrived we were a bit nervous - the place was packed and we wanted to check on the gluten-free options. however, the place is always busy so if you are patient you will get exceptional service! they are busy because they servegoodfood with care. at the door, aj was amazing and went to speak to the cook to answer our questions. we heard that the chef is gluten intolerant so we knew we'd be safe. in the end we had wonderful dishes and no gluten problems. we'll be back!

bad cow girls!!. i have tried eating at cow girls exactly three times since 2007 while visiting, then a second time visiting and most recent a third time after moving to santa fe. each and every time i found the food to be among the most horrid, bland, mediocre, ill prepared foods i think i have ever had at any establishment i have been to and we go out to eat a great deal of the time, probably 90% of our meals are taken out? i ordered the babyback ribs and a side salad with ranch dressing. beans and a veggie came on the side. the ribs were posibly the worst prepared, worst bbq sauce i have ever tasted? they had been smoked or cooked until the meat was mushy, and fell apart with a fork, (not in agoodway) the bbq sauce was bland, tasteless and almost un-ettable? the entire entree was cold and tasted terrible. even the side salad was bad, lettuce wilted and too much onion and other junk on top along with a very cheap quality ranch dressing, (probably from some restaurant supply house?) i cannot recall one item i found even good. it was so bad i called for a manager and sent it back, (something i almost never have done before) the manager did deduct the un-eaten meal from our check and offered to get me something else, my appetite was gone by then and i just waited for breakfast to eat again. this place calls itself a bbq joint? if they did not have a liquer license i suspect they would not remain in business for very long on the merits of their food? its basically a pool hall hangout for the younger crowd and holligans? the place across the street, "whole hogg" is far, far better if you want bbq, even then they are not perfect, but way better than cowgirls bbq?

hits the spot.. i've enjoyed this restaurant both times i've been. i gather it's a trendy, close to the plaza restaurant, but the food has been solid. good, unique tacos. one surprising thing about this restaurant: they have one of the best salads i've ever had. can't remember the name, but it has yellow beets and goat cheese in it.goodplace to eat on the patio when the weather is nice.

weird crowd, slow service. maybe this is a real local joint but i felt very out of place there.... there is no organization with the service so our group was unsure of where to sit, where to order drinks, and we just wound of being standing there being stared at when none of the servers provided us with "directions" . the food wasgoodand decent prices for drinks. our server seemed very overwhelmed and it showed in her service. go with someone who knows the routine!
