there are many good restaurants in santa fe. this is not one of them. the food was mediocre at best, the service was sluggish and awkward and the setting is chaotic. they also consider themselves to be a bbq restaurant, yet have only three bbq dishes on the menu.

got the nutburger (veggie friendly). it was good. hubby got brisket & said it was good. step-daughter got kids mac & cheese and tangy wings. she liked the mac & cheese but the wings were way too spicy for her and she didn't like them. nice patio. only one unisex bathroom. service was at times kind of slow but our waitress was working half the tables on the patio. but the staff was very friendly.

come on people...this place has all natural beef for hamburgers and i had a delicious natural sirloin cooked perfect medium. it is only my second time to eat here but everyone i was with enjoyed their meal. the sirloin i had came on a bed of caramelized onions and with a roasted green chili on top. service was great. one of my dining companions i was with said the gumbo was better than what she had in new orleans. besides where are you gonna go at 11:00 pm on a thursday for some great nosh. so lighten up on the cowgirl and enjoy it for what it is.

so helpful!. when we arrived we were a bit nervous - the place was packed and we wanted to check on the gluten-free options. however, the place is always busy so if you are patient you will get exceptional service! they are busy because they serve good food with care. at the door, aj was amazing and went to speak to the cook to answer our questions. we heard that the chef is gluten intolerant so we knew we'd be safe. in the end we had wonderful dishes and no gluten problems. we'll be back!

bad cow girls!!. i have tried eating at cow girls exactly three times since 2007 while visiting, then a second time visiting and most recent a third time after moving to santa fe. each and every time i found the food to be among the most horrid, bland, mediocre, ill prepared foods i think i have ever had at any establishment i have been to and we go out to eat a great deal of the time, probably 90% of our meals are taken out? i ordered the babyback ribs and a side salad with ranch dressing. beans and a veggie came on the side. the ribs were posibly the worst prepared, worst bbq sauce i have ever tasted? they had been smoked or cooked until the meat was mushy, and fell apart with a fork, (not in a good way) the bbq sauce was bland, tasteless and almost un-ettable? the entire entree was cold and tasted terrible. even the side salad was bad, lettuce wilted and too much onion and other junk on top along with a very cheap quality ranch dressing, (probably from some restaurant supply house?) i cannot recall one item i found even good. it was so bad i called for a manager and sent it back, (something i almost never have done before) the manager did deduct the un-eaten meal from our check and offered to get me something else, my appetite was gone by then and i just waited for breakfast to eat again. this place calls itself a bbq joint? if they did not have a liquer license i suspect they would not remain in business for very long on the merits of their food? its basically a pool hall hangout for the younger crowd and holligans? the place across the street, "whole hogg" is far, far better if you want bbq, even then they are not perfect, but way better than cowgirls bbq?

if your from out of town avoid cowgirls, our concierge had spoken so highly about cowgirls i thought it would be austin esk and feel like home, i was sadly mistaken:( after the hour and a half walking around trying to find it , they informed us of their 5 dollar cover we would have gladly paid unfortunately we just had debit, we told them we were from out of town could we put the 10 on a tab, or did they no of a debit machine etc etc, doorman not willing to help at all. so sad after driving from san antonio texas my only night out was spent wondering around & then being treated so rudely, back to texas with now cowgirls....

i've been there several times and had food and drinks. the food has been consistently mediocre, doesn't seem very fresh. atmosphere... meh. it's true what they say in other reviews about the service, it's horrible and slow. i'm a local and have been in santa fe many years and i've never understood the hype about the cowgirl. i guess it's the location and maybe an ok place to drink a beer with friends but that's about it.

chile relleno topped with crawfish étouffée was fantastic. their chipotle sauce added a nice kick to the black beans. son enjoyed fried okra and catfish sticks. huge servings, good local beers. we'll be back.

hits the spot.. i've enjoyed this restaurant both times i've been. i gather it's a trendy, close to the plaza restaurant, but the food has been solid. good, unique tacos. one surprising thing about this restaurant: they have one of the best salads i've ever had. can't remember the name, but it has yellow beets and goat cheese in it. good place to eat on the patio when the weather is nice.

it's christmas eve and the monsters are doing an early dinner at cowgirl bar & grill (before our actual dinner later) watching a drunk guy in sunglasses and a cowboy hat berate a woman at the bar telling her to "shut the f-up" repeatedly.

ugg. consistently crappy service. consistently drab, over salted food. margaritas are too sweet. loud, lame bands often play there.
