i loved the curry in this place so much, i felt that i really needed to make a review. really wanted to visit this place since and i do not have any regrets. ordered theporkcutlet omelette curry rice with tomato soup and it did not disappoint. i can't tolerate spicy food so i ordered it as "mild". you would literally finish the whole meal. from the sauce, to the way the eggs were cooked, to the rice down to the milk tea we ordered (great pair when eating curry, must try), everything was just spot-on for me. i will definitely try the gratin when i come back and order it with their salad (try it with their citrus vinaigrette) please do visit the place! i really, really recommend it!!

finally, got to try coco ichi. it tastes way different and better from the vermont and golden curry curry roux boxes i'm used to. hahaha. the flavors were intense and spicy, but, you can adjust the spiciness level. the toppings were so good as well, we hadporktonkatsu with omurice and hamburg steak with oozing cheese inside. also, i suggest that you order a set meal with soup and dessert. we had refreshing scoops of ice cream to perfectly end our meal. highly recommended! 👍🏽

this is the ideal branch if you want to get a quick fix for your japanese curry cravings. literally this is located inside the car park building and you can be in the restaurant seat from your car seat in a minute or less. we ordered fried chicken curry, eggplant and spinach curry rice gratin and their famousporkcutlet omelet curry. among the three i liked most the fried chicken curry. the chicken pieces were crunchy outside but juicy and salty inside. it reminded me of karaage but this one is smothered in curry sauce. theporkcutlet selling point is the omelet rice. it was creamy and thick a perfect contrast against the crunchy lightly breadedporkmeat. the gratin was not a disappointment also. the melted cheese on top covered the entire rice serving and was very flavorful. giving this visit a nice 5 rating!

taste japan’s curry at its best!

when i went to japan, i fell in love with their curry and the first time i had one was just at the subway in tokyo where you use vending machines to order and when you enter the restaurant, your order will be right there waiting for you. since i had that, all i wanted to eat the rest of my visit was curry but i had to stop myself so when i got home, i craved japanese curry so bad then i heard about coco and went here immediately to try them out.

to my greatest luck, their curry indeed tasted like the one i had in tokyo. it was pricier but it was worth it. i tried both theporkand the chicken katsu but i prefer the chicken one. i could never finish one serving even if it’s just the regular sized one but i always try my best because it’s too good to waste.

luckily, they also use japanese rice which makes the whole experience take me back to when i had my first bite. after eating here, i tried a lot of japanese curry in other restaurants here in manila but none of them (so far) had ever tasted so close to the real one as this restaurant did. consider me a regular customer from now on, coco ichibanya.

their salad is also very tasty. i didn’t even mind waiting a little bit while munching on the salad and the starters.

very satisfying straight up curry place. possibly a comfort food for us, we love how uncomplicated the menu is. it's either just yakiniku orporkcutlet for me and my wife. each time, we leave with full bellies and satisfied cravings.

orderedporkomelet curry with spicyness at level 1. it has just the right amount of kick to it without the spicyness overtaking the flavor giving a good balance to the overall taste. icecream and coffee jelly were good, a good end to a good meal. a relatively comparable japanese curry meal. staff were accomodating and alert.

overall i really enjoyed my first experience. will definitely go back!

i recently gave coco ichibanya-rockwell a perfect score. when i craved for the same food in gh area, i wasn't entirely disappointed, but i felt quite sad that quality isn't the same in their two branches.

i got theporkcutlet omelet with curry spice level 4. when the dish was served, i knew something was different. the egg omelet which was supposed to be creamy and fluffy was a little bit over. theporkmeat was a little bit way too fatty compared to the ones they serve in rockwell. also, the spice level 4 did not give any spicy kick at all. normally, i would at least perspire a bit or feel the spiciness on my tongue.

i am not saying it was a bad experience. i'm still giving it a 4.0, it was still a great dish. it's just that, compared to their rockwell branch, it is not as great.

first time at a coco curry house but i’ve heard that it’s good since it’s a favorite of some friends and relatives and now i know why! it really is good, satisfying/ filling and reasonably priced.

theporkis tender and juicy inside with a crunchy fried coating. the rice is not dry. the curry is delicious and you can adjust (i.e. make it spicier) the spiciness level even more by adding the hot spicy powder. you can also choose how much rice you want (less or more). the extra topping of sausages that we ordered were good too, small but good.

this branch has ample seating and very well airconditioned. it was so hot outside so when we entered, the cool atmosphere was a great welcome to customers. the server also gave us iced water immediately upon arrival which we appreciated.

i love it! the taste is consistent, same as the ones i’ve tried in japan which makes me feel that eating curry from here is just a mall away. we’ve been at this branch for a couple of times now and the staff has always been nice. i always go for theporkcutlet and vegetable curry. the dish is quite heavy on the stomach, the curry is thick and flavorful. the cutlet has just the right amount of tenderness and crunch. 👍🏻👍🏻

lured by the smell of wonderful curry, i remembered that it has been a while since i've tried coco ichibanya...when it first opened at estancia. i remember regretting eating there because the flavor is bland and very expensive. their curry flavor has improved greatly since then.

pork cutlet and vegetables curry - theporkitself is bland but the curry is on point and generous. the vegetables included, specifically the potatos was undercooked.

cheese hamburger curry - soft and cheesy, just a little too rich for my liking. loved the level 3 spiciness, just how i like it.

also upgrade mine for 90php which included drinks and ice cream. i recommend to upgrade your meal as it is really sulit in comparison to the price of their drinks and ice cream.

i can’t count the number of times i’ve spotted coco ichibanya and told myself “yes, i’ll visit there soon”, or dad telling me he’ll take me out to eat here but us never actually getting around to do it. so finally, after years of putting it off, a dinner with friends ended up with the three of us at my friend’s favorite go-to restaurant.

since i was a tonkatsu fan but not familiar with curry meals, my friend decided to recommend dishes i could try out. he recommended i try my favoriteporktonkatsu, and then ask for additional cheese with the curry. it was the best decision ever!

i chose the regular/standard curry version as i’m not fond of spicy food, but the spices from the curry still gave the meal a kick. 😂 regular water refills is a necessity in such a situation. the cheese, as i mentioned earlier, was the best addition to the curry. the cheese added extra flavors and gave the curry sauce an extra soft gooey flavor when mixing it with the crisp tonkatsu.

the prices at coco ichibanya are affordable and reasonable considering the ingredients used in the dishes. servings are large so expect to satisfy your appetite when eating here.

service here was also okay. we arrived an hour before closing time so there weren’t a lot of people left inside the establishment. the food was promptly served. my only extra thought for the visit was that coco ichibanya should consider leaving pitchers or jugs of water at each table, or upon request by guests. i had to call servers’ attention each time i downed my glass to stave off the curry’s spices. getting the staff’s attention is not always easy.

overall, i really enjoyed the trip to coco ichibanya and would really like to go back for another (food)trip.

curry house coco ichibanya is a global player when it comes to japanese style curry dushrs, was established in 1978 and a world renowned brand.

seen a branch in greenhills so we went in for lunch.the interior of the branch was modern japanese with some jars of curry display, with the history of the place written on a glass wall.ordered two curry items, but upon ordering the staff will ask you the size of the level of heat of the curry.

pork cutlet omelette curry-php360 -tonkatsu style deep friedpork,on top of japanese rice muffled by scrambled egg ,doused in rich curry gravy.pork was evenly cooked i hate undercooked pork, tasty marinade.the heat of the curry was just right perfect because i have acid reflux with some types of curries.the quality of the rice was high grade while the egg has this delicately silky texture.

chicken curry rice gratin-php330 small chunks of boneless chicken ,inside a potpie style dish.the creamy cheesy covering was well paired with the character of the curry sauce.

service was good and friendly, they even have japanese newsletter for their japanese patrons.we also received a bottle of ucc coffee because we reached a certain amount on our bill.

overall a happy place rating.

aside from my mom's lamb curry, i consider coco ichibanya to be one of the best japanese curry out there. ordered the hashed beef omelet (360php) which is my pick and tastes creamy, porkcutlet and vegetables curry (440php) and extra cream potato croquette on the side. i love their omelet menu, especially how they cook the egg. it comes out soft like a blanket. clam and ripe tomato curry (305php) is one of my favorites. you can taste the tangyness of the tomato and the clams don't taste raw. you can opt to add iced milktea to your order, and the sweetener is set aside so you can adjust it to your liking.

i'm disappointed how they serve a lot of rice and the viand is so little/few...a bit too pricey too for some of the orders in the menu, but the taste is really good. aside from that, the sauce is sort of enough to act as substitute for the meat.
