cobalt, the restaurant

if only the service were better.... we went to cobalt after seeing all the great reviews. we got there and were seated pretty quickly. our server was quick to get our drink order, and we were thinking it'd be a great meal (great view, great ambiance). then things went downhill. it took a while to get our drinks. they were good, but took a while. when our server finally took our food order, we'd been there a while. we never got bread; our server disappeared, and we literally had to flag her down for anything; and we even had to ask other servers for items. the food was pretty good. i had the ribs, though they were cold by the time we got them (45 minutes after ordering), the flavor was great, and they fell off the bone. theshrimpmy sister had was average; the pizza my brother in law had was good - but very rich; and the oyster poboy my husband had was pretty good. we thought about ordering dessert, but since we'd already been there two hours, we figured we'd cut our loses, and just go on and go. we didn't feel like waiting another hour for dessert. this place has potential, but just needs to work on service.

we went to cobalt again on our visit to orange beach this week and, as always, were glad we did! the view of the marina and waterway was beautiful as the sun set, making the outside seating area a great place for our family to spend the evening. the food was terrific -shrimpand grits, ahi tuna salad and bison burger all got heavy compliments from the people in our party who ordered them. the spicy marinara sauce on the spaghetti had more kick than any of us have ever seen in marinara at any other restaurant, but the spicy food lovers at the table loved it! we decided as the meal ended that cobalt will be a consistent stop on all of our future visits to the orange beach area!

disappointing meal. 5 adults and 2 children in party. best part of meal was the tuna salad and kid's grilled cheese. theshrimphad very little flavor nor did the crab. ordered 5 desserts, only 4 came. the 5th one came when the other 4 had finished. coffee with dessert was warm at best. cristina was a very good waitress.

loved the ambiance and friendly service. loved the happy hour and sunset menu. firecrackershrimpwas just okay. cheese pizza was perfect for our 9 year old. the alfredo pasta was made in house…a thin sauce but tasty. the flounder and jambalaya needed a sauce, as it was a tad dry…the green beans also needed a tad more blanching as they were crunchy. nonetheless, still one of the better meals we’ve had a great prices. come early to get a seat outside, or an indoor seat with a view.

we had firecrackershrimpas an appetizer, found it lightly battered & nicely sauced. my peppercorn encrusted filet was properly cooked which made me happy. tony had a nightly special with was a german/autumn inspired beef dish which he liked. our members of our party had dinner oysters & fish platters which got the seal of approval. the only thing a bit disappointing was the cheese pizza ordered for the kids which was nothing special at all.

great food. been here three times. twice for supper and once for lunch. bestshrimppoboy and burger around. at supper i always get some type of grilled fish. really good crab bisque also.

great food and excellent atmosphere...the outdoor area is the best in the area! it's good for families and date nights! the crab bisque and friedshrimpare the best in town!

i have been numerous times and love the view and the food has been good in the past but it had been a while since we had warren there. we went on may 31st and the hostess seated us quickly. service was fantastic and the food was delicious! we had grouper,shrimpand grits, steak and the fried oysters and shrimp. all were very good portions and the presentation of the food was excellent. we will return for another visit! bon appetite!

my wife and i had theshrimpwith pasta. waiter told us it was spicy and really good. we were both disappointed because it wasn't really seasoned at all and by no means spicy. pasta andshrimpwas cooked well but had to add a lot of salt. waiter asked us if we enjoyed it and we were honest. manager came and saw us and made it right. we were pleased with the service and also the manager going above and beyond for us to enjoy our experience and not leave with a bad taste in our mouth. our kids had the pizza and the chicken fingers and fries and they were great! sadly better than our food.

30th anniversary dinner. i had the blackened red snapper that was simply amazing, and my wife had the grilledshrimpand grits. the waiter insisted i try some "oscar sauce" on the side with the snapper so i did, i could hear him ''pushing'' it on others around our area also. didnt know until i got my check that he charged me $7 extra for it (and it was horrible). my wifes grilledshrimpwere not deveined as i thought they should have been for their size at a place like this. overall a good meal and we will probably return next year.

girls trip. well....thought we saved the best for last. walked in, and we were all smiles. what a beautiful place to have dinner. sat outside, very beautiful. music coming from bar, let's just say that he should have kept with the instrumental version. nothing that special about the food. maybe it was the head chefs night off.shrimpand buttery grits. did not even taste like grits. oysters on the half shell were the smallest oysters i've ever seen.

great happy hour. if you are in the area, and are looking for a great happy hour and afternoon snack cobalt has great options. they offer 50 cent oysters (soooo cheap), and $5 dynamiteshrimp(also great). they also have various drink specials. it truly is an incredible deal, and the best time to visit the restaurant.

cobalt....friedshrimpand oysters. had a friedshrimpand fried oyster combo. both were very good, well battered, seasoned and fried just right. they need to work on their fries, though. came out soggy. on the other hand, great atmosphere and view.

great atmosphere. food way over priced seafood. fish sandwich good.shrimpgrilled awful old chewy not fresh. appetizers average. cheap liquor weak drinks. come on this is a high end resturant. do not recommend.
