we arrived on a busy saturday night. the two hour wait was to be expected. they tried to squeeze us into a small table by the kitchen. i am not a type a hole but i did have to go to the server station and complain. the hostess promptly moved us to a roomy table by the window. our waiter was very professional. the menu was underwhelming. the food and appatizers took way too long to come out. the food was ok. nothing special. i will gobackbut never at a busy time.

how rude!. went here, was given a pager and told it would be 20 minutes. was also told that the tables in the bar were first come first serve. after a 20 minute wait, a couple left one of the bar tables so we went to sit down and gave the pager back. then the rude hostesses came over to seat another couple and ran us off, not even letting us have our placebackin line. thank you, cobalt, for saving us $100 tonight. we are nowbackat the condo eating our delicious big fish leftovers. we are locals and over the years we have always recommended cobalt, but after tonight i will never recommend this place again. besides after you got rid of the lobster bites, there really isn't anything on the menu that is all that exciting.

great meal!. we've been here a few times before over the years and it's always been good. tonight i had the chargrilled oysters with the garlic-parmesan butter, the crab dip and a cup of the crab bisque. the oysters were on par with the ones from wintzell's and bluegill (which is a good thing to me), the crab dip was cheesy and had a lot of crab meat in it and the bisque also was good with plenty of crab meat. my wife had the tuna & avocado stack and the margherita pizza. both were really good. the place was packed, but with as many people working there we were in and out in less than an hour. overall we always have a great meal here.

we came to cobalt for the breakfast buffet. we were hoping to get a really good breakfast after looking at the impressive dinner menu. we were so disappointed that i started writing this review before ever receiving the check. frozen biscuits, frozen hash browns, lumpy grits, rubbery sausage...terrible, terrible, terrible. needless to say, we will not bebackfor dinner...or ever for that matter.

really good!. friday night i took my gf to cobalt for a bayview dinner. i have eaten here several times, so my expectations were reasonably high. we were seated promptly (luckily, as the crowds can be quite large here during summer--1.5 hour wait the night before) and attended to by a very pleasant young lady named alex. for an appetizer we decided upon a small cheese pizza, which was surprisingly good, especially the crust, which can make or break the pie. for entrées we had the triggerfish with west indies crab over polenta, and the cobalt burger. the seafood entrée came with a house salad--fresh greens with a champagne vinaigrette, which was bright and tasty. the triggerfish was delicate and properly cooked, and worked well with the other flavors. quite good. the burger was really good. i mean, "i know what i'm going to order next time i comebackhere" good! the view of the bay on an early friday summer evening added to making this a great choice. casual dining with upscale flavors make this an easy restaurant to recommend.

what a great place to eat and enjoy friends and family! we sat outside with a beautiful waterfront, sunset view. there were 8 of us and we all had something different. our meals ranged from perfectly cooked filet, a fresh catch of the day, to a suberb rack of ribs and delicious grouper. this dinner was worth the hour wait!!! between the excellent service, the wonderful food and the atmosphere, you can't loose! highly recommend

invisible. i just walked out of cobalt after being there 10 min. without even getting any water or a nod from any wait person other than the hostess. business is not that good down here and neglecting customers, when you are not even half full, will comebackto haunt you!!!!!

this place has the dinner time view that is worth a million bucks. this place doesn't look like much from the front, but when you walk in, you see the wholebackwall is glass with west facing windows to watch the splendor of the daily sunset. most of the tables inside have view out thebackwindows, and there is a big deck with more seating to watch the sunset outside.

mixed feelings.... i like eating at architecturally interesting places. cobalt definitely had that going for it. there was a huge foyer with an open fish pool with little rays in it that i just loved. the place was huge too. just had a lot of interesting stuff going for it.

this is a tricky review for me overall though. i was being experimental and trying new foods and just didn't like what i got. i got a crab bisque and it was fine, but i wouldn't order again. too... "corn"y. then i got the salad with duck on it and i didn't like it either. it had a goat cheese crostini with it though that was good. they also brought out bread (when we asked) that was good. so, i just felt meh about everything, but that's my own fault not theirs. however, my husband got a bison burger that i had a bite of and it was good.

i know a lot of people have complained about the service, and yeah... there was kind of a "i'm busy and better than you" vibe to a lot of the people there. our waitress was very nice and helpful, but she kept forgetting stuff, lol.

i think a lot of what you are paying for is the ambiance. i would give the place a shot again though because i just didn't like what i got. if i wentbacka second time and got stuck-up attitude with an overpriced meh meal then i probably wouldn't go again.

great happy hour. i have yet to eat an actual entree since i always come for happy hour. my first experience here was terrible. there was just no service at all. i did comebackand it was better. the entrees i have seen look beautiful, however they are pricey and i haven't eaten any so i can't tell you how they are. happy hour is the ticket. $1 draughts and $5 apps.

ready to gobackagain!. well i finally made it to cobalt - i have been wanting to check this place out for quite a while now, and finally had the chance to have dinner there friday night.
great service.
food was really good, and prices were very fair.
couldn't really enjoy the view as we there after dark, but i imagine it would a great place during the afternoon and early evening hours. also looked to have some very good docks/slips for arriving by water.
our party consisted of four adults and entrees included the filet, blackened redfish, seafood pizza, and the crab bisque.
i did not try the filet, but my friend said it was great, and looking at the color, i could tell it was cooked to perfection.
the blackened redfish was served over a spicy jambalaya with a small amount of hollandaise sauce drizzled across the top. it had a very nice appearance on the plate and was a very hefty portion. very spicy, and the best dish on the table in my opinion.
the "stone hearth seafood pizza" was really good, the saffron crust certainly had that nice brick oven flavor/texture, the alfredo sauce was very light and did not interfere with the flavor of the shrimp, scallops and crab. it also had onions, peppers and asparagus, which were a nice complement to the seafood flavors as well. the pizza is a great value too, as i took the other halfbackto our hotel for lunch the next day!
the bisque, was good, not great. i have had better, but i certainly wouldn't file a major complaint on this one. very smooth and creamy, nice flavor, large portion, but just not as much "lump" crab meat as i like to see in a bisque. don't get me wrong, it was in there, just not in lump form - more of a pureed version.
we also had a dozen raw oysters - they were from texas, had a great flavor, very cold, and were of average to medium size, no tiny ones, yet they still made it a baker's dozen.
wine and draft beer prices were very fair as well.
the restaurant was noisy, the dining room wasn't even full, yet it was very loud. probably due to the design... high ceilings, hardwood floors, glass front. the tables are large, so i felt a little too far away from the couple sitting opposite from us, and often found hearing our conversation to be difficult.
but all in all, i loved it, i'm willing to talk louder, get my hearing checked, whatever it takes... because i will be goingbackto cobalt!
