great brunch location and a very decent variety of dishes, as my first visit here i was very impressed and will be returning! i love great tasting food andcitycafe definitely gave me great food.

mistake getting the breakast burrito. okaycitycafe made a big mistake the last time i was there. i have always like going there for both brunch and dinner. they have a ton of options, and most are always amazing.

last time i was there i wanted to order my favorite breakfast burrito, one that i often crave, however do not purchase because it's somewhat overpriced. the burrito i always order wasnt on the menu so i asked if it could be made by just naming the ingredients they had in the particular burrito. when it was on the menu, it had scrambled eggs, avacado, havarti cheese and something else i cannot remember. they said they could make it for me, however would have to charge an additional few dollars for the avacado; which makes sense so i was okay with that.

when i got the burrito, it was presented with a side of sliced up avocados. it wasn't what i expected but okay, at least i have avocados to add into my burrito. on the same plate they had a small bowl of guacamole.

this all doesn't seem bad, but they drenched the burrito in a cheese sauce, so that i couldn't even add in the avocado they ,charged me extra to have, in my burrito.

i personally believe they should have told me the burrito already came with guacamole instead of allowing me to get charged an extra 3 dollars for some avocado.

i got so hot in there, with the sun-shine impossible to avoid, that i felt like i had to pass out. it was an unfortunately miserable experience to the point where i doubt ill ever go back.

winter restaurant week yum!!!. with a group of 5 we all picked this as our place for restaurant week. this was a great choice. starters kobe meatballs compare to the best meatball sub ever. it was filling and delicious. the fried green tomatoes were cooked perfectly, not slimy not to crisp they were yummy. the best part was the sauce that comes with it felt a little jipped/ cheated because there were only 2 slices. the ahi tuna was the best choice. it had a firm flavorful crust on it and was bright pink in the center wonderful. the chicken biscuit was just that but but yummy.

entrees: omg the pot roast was fall apart deliciousness. it melted in my mouth and the potatoes were whipped fluffy clouds of heaven....lol it was great the only thing that topped it was the "3 little pigs" ( pork loin, pulled pork, slab bacon, potato hash and spinach). this was great there was nothing better at the table to try. i got the crab cake. with mac n cheese...hmmm it was good but everything else i tried just made me sad with my choice. the crab cake was very meaty and not much filler; which was wonderful but it didn't have much flavor.

desserts: all around good none were over rated.

pleasant surprise on cathedral st.. went tocitycafe for an early valentine's day dinner. frankly, everything was superb. this is what dining out should be! lamb chops appetizer was delicious, and is a must have. lobster mac and cheese was creamy and loaded with lobster. steak frites were done perfectly and extra flavorful. baltimore club sandwich was very good. dessert may have been the best of all, heath bar bread pudding and flourless chocolate cake were both home runs. based on the food, i would go back time and again. service was excellent and the manager even gave us little boxes of their signature mints. hooray forcitycafe!

all good things,citycafe. while visiting some friends who live in dc and maryland, they recommendedcitycafé for a sunday brunch. with me being primarily vegetarian, their suggestion was a hit. the friend who took me had bagels with cream cheese, salmon and capers. they got it right. you would be surprised at how many places get it so very, very, very wrong. i had the tuscan omelette: omelet filled with mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, and cheese, served up with potatoes and wheat bread. that appealed to my vegetarian palate nicely. and then we ended with a flight of desserts: flour-less chocolate cake, creme broulette, bread pudding. don't ask me how we walked away from that restaurant without having taken a nap first. no more rushing to baltimore harbour for me. it's all aboutcitycafé.

favorite local restaurant in the city!. love love lovecitycafe. the service is always impeccable. the waiters are always extremely helpful, friendly, attentive, and quick. i've been here for dinner and lunch regularly and always during restaurant week - they have the best deals! i will be taking my family here for brunch over thanksgiving weekend.
chef chad's dishes are delicious. i've never ordered anything i didn't like. i don't mind paying the prices as the place is always spotless, tastefully decorated with art from locals, and the atmosphere is always upbeat and lively.

highly reccomended dishes:

mini crab cakes
lobster tail nuggets
fillet mignon
pot roast - best thing on the menu.
snickers bread pudding will melt in your mouth.

their drinks are awesome too - bloody mary's and sangria!

not for me. in the 6 years i've been in the area, i've eaten atcitycafe 3 times. while the menu options were good and the prices reasonable, the service has been so horrible that it would just about take an act of congress to drive me in there again. 3 co-workers and i once waited 45 minutes for our server to even approach our table. over an hour later, we still didn't have our food. when it finally came out, some things were undercooked, others cold. when we complained, the server's way of apologizing was to tell us he's sorry that we feel we didn't enjoy ourselves - as if it's our fault for not enjoying such substandard treatment. his manager's approach was to tell us that this particular server is one of his best, and that our complaints are uncharacteristic. i then spoke up to tell him that this was my 2nd visit to cc, and on my previous visit, we had the same server, and while we didn't wait 2 hours to get our meals, he certainly took his time taking orders, refilling drinks, etc. he spent more time socializing. on my 3rd visit, i commented to our waitress that my hamburger was cold. her response: "what do you expect me to do about it?"

it's been about 3 years since i've set foot in cc. things may have changed, but i'm not eager to find out.

good eats, bad for restaurant week. i was there yesterday for lunch. this was the 2nd time i have been. the food is good, the server was nice. what i was not happy about was the fact that the server told me that they weren't doing the restaurant week menu "until later" (i took that to mean dinner time and i was there in the early pm). that, however, was not accurate. i specifically pickedcitycafe for lunch because i had looked at the menu online at least 2 times in the last week and saw they were participating for both lunch and dinner before i made my reservation. also because i knew that there were options for me (vegetarian).

ah, thecitycafé . luckier than most mount vernon businesses in this recession, it seems to still be doing bang-up business. like the posh eden's lounge across the street (i still need to stop in at some point), thecitycafé is not a victim of the crap
