outstanding experience. you can go out for a meal, or you can dine. here we dined! every bite of every meal was absolute perfection. our server, dani, was professionally attentive, and knew the menu well. no one was disappointed with her suggestions. we were even fortunate enough to meet their gifted chef, michael. our party of five was out for a birthday celebration and this place certainly made it a special occasion.

good coffee. i enjoy the atmosphere and the patio seating. the coffee is good, and the employees are friendly and helpful.

what a sweet place in baltimore!. had no idea where we were in baltimore and were looking for a breakfast spot after an orioles game the night before. i had a the baltimore benedict, my god what a meal. everything is perfect at this place, sit outside smell the air and enjoy the food.

great work on providing the hospitable environment. service is up to the mark. food was served nice and hot and was tasting good too. i would like to come back here again.

i love their chilled gazpacho and my friend loved their chicken soup. service timings were incredible with great hospitality and polite staff.

i've been here countless times- for all meals. i just love it. the food is a bit inconsistent but it's still classic. interior fits it's name to a t.

great brunch location and a very decent variety of dishes, as my first visit here i was very impressed and will be returning! i love great tasting food and city cafe definitely gave me great food.

so that's what the fuss is all about. my girlfriend and i were on vacation to visit some of her family in bethesda and we came here while visiting baltimore. this place was quite good. i had a crab cake sandwich on soft brioche with duck fat gouda fries because baltimore. my girlfriend had blackened salmon on the same brioche bun. i had ordered mine without lettuce or tomato and they were still there. that was a mild annoyance but the sandwich was served open face so no big deal. the crab cake didn't look at first like it was going to fit on the bun it was small yet fat, but once i pressed it down slightly, it fit, which was a good thing. it was ridiculously tasty. there was almost no bread inside, it was all crab and it was sweet and delicious. however, my girlfriend's blackened salmon was probably even better. the spice crust was fantastic and the fish was cooked beautifully. the prices were slightly high for the brunch time menu and it may have been a tiny bit loud, but overall, it was a fantastic meal.

a favorite for brunch!. spacious with modern decor. great selection of craft beers and cocktails along with the usuals. a small plate of little cinnamon rolls to nibble while you read the menu. i don't know that i needed these, but they were nice. huge selection of dishes to choose from for brunch. i settled on a breakfast burrito which was vegetarian and served with nicely seasoned potatoes. hubby had a pulled pork benedict that was a nice variation with fried green tomatoes. service was excellent, our server was on top of everything the second a glass was near empty. free parking in a nearby lot as well!

the croque madame and coffee were delicious.

don't go here for a birthday. we took a friend here for her birthday, and we asked the waiter if they do anything for birthdays, he said if we buy a desert they will stick a candle in it. considering this is a fairly pricey restaurant, i wasn't too impressed. the food was good, but not impressive. it was overpriced compared to what you can get elsewhere. the service wasn't great either, the waiter had to leave near the end of our meal, so he seemed impatient and rushed us.

nice place, nice brunch. service was good, especially considering the size of our group. i had a great rockefeller omelet and everything else looked good too. would go again.

the service was incredible! my friend and i sat and chatted for 3 hours and we never once felt pressured to leave.
they have complimentary valet parking!! love!!!
this would be a great choice for a large group.

mid town delight. this review is a tad bit late but it was from my visit on 2/15/12. i was in town and we ended up here. the decor is simple but nice and it was not overly loud. we were seated in the area behind the bar. it is a small area and all of the tables were taken but it was not too hard to have a good conversation. we started with the calamari and spiced rubbed tuna. i thought the tuna was done wonderfully. the calamari and banana peppers was light and cooked well. not rubbery or oily. while i am not from this area my father and his ancestors have been in baltimore since the 1850s. my father passed along to me his maryland crab cake recipe. growing up on a river that provided all the blue crabs we wanted i am very used to eating crab cakes. with that being said i ordered the crab cakes. something i would suggest you not try down south for the most part because you will get some god awful bread junk. i was delighted by what was presented in front of me. the meat was fresh and well prepared and they tasted wonderful. it was refreshing to actually get something i grew up eating in a restaurant. i cannot attest to the other items on the menu but what i had was wonderful. not living in baltimore i may not be back at this establishment for a while but based on what i had i would recommend and i will return upon my next visit. happy eating!

mistake getting the breakast burrito. okay city cafe made a big mistake the last time i was there. i have always like going there for both brunch and dinner. they have a ton of options, and most are always amazing.

last time i was there i wanted to order my favorite breakfast burrito, one that i often crave, however do not purchase because it's somewhat overpriced. the burrito i always order wasnt on the menu so i asked if it could be made by just naming the ingredients they had in the particular burrito. when it was on the menu, it had scrambled eggs, avacado, havarti cheese and something else i cannot remember. they said they could make it for me, however would have to charge an additional few dollars for the avacado; which makes sense so i was okay with that.

when i got the burrito, it was presented with a side of sliced up avocados. it wasn't what i expected but okay, at least i have avocados to add into my burrito. on the same plate they had a small bowl of guacamole.

this all doesn't seem bad, but they drenched the burrito in a cheese sauce, so that i couldn't even add in the avocado they ,charged me extra to have, in my burrito.

i personally believe they should have told me the burrito already came with guacamole instead of allowing me to get charged an extra 3 dollars for some avocado.

i got so hot in there, with the sun-shine impossible to avoid, that i felt like i had to pass out. it was an unfortunately miserable experience to the point where i doubt ill ever go back.
