cibo

thisplaceis nestled away and feels secluded from foot traffic. upon arrival you are greeted by the best service you could receive. the waiters are very knowledgable about the dishes and are very helpful. you can see why they won the award this year for best service. to start we were given complimentary chips with mac n cheese dipping sauce. the mac n cheese sauce is to die for! by recommendation of the waiter i ordered the steak diane. i was told it's vacuum packed, poached for a few hours and then seared before served. because of this process the meat is succulent and even the fat is as enjoyable to eat as the meat. the diane sauce was lacking however with it sitting minimally on the plate and lacking that punch in flavour that i expect from a diane sauce. a real lack of worcester and dijon mustard flavour that could have complemented the meat better. the sides of pumpkin and beans you have to pay for separate to the meal. as delicious as the sides were, you do feel they should come with the meal. to finish i tried their specialty pavlova which was exactly what you expect. there just wasn't anything special to it. i overheard another customer suggest more passionfruit or kiwifruit...and i totally agree with her. i also tried the chocolate tartine. again it was rich in flavour and had multiple textures that helped cut through the richness of the chocolate. the nougat addition however was too chewy and was quickly ignored after the first bite. when you go to pay for your bill i always ask myself, was it worth the price i paid? my answer for cibo is....no. with all the talent and flair in its method, it's still bound in its lack of flavour and flair. this i think reflects its old money customers who would attend the restaurant regularly. cibo deserves its rating, though it just didn't live up to the hype i was expecting.

had a beautiful meal here a few weeks ago, delicious and wonderfully presented and the service very attentive. also, the wine list was extensive and had some of the best wines on offer. no wonder thisplacegets such good reviews...
would highly recommend.

service was great food was tasty this is aplacein auckland that again is very good and unsung. definitely recommend. they change their menu regularly enough for it not to get boring unlike other "big name" restaurants

loved this place! delicious food, relaxing atmosphere, great service from the staff and clean surroundings. a perfectplacefor a romantic date or to meet up with friends and family. just a reminder though that you must dress up appropriately when visiting thisplaceas this is quite on the high end, thus price reflects this.

this is a must try in the deeper parts of parnell! tucked away, thisplaceoffers great food, great service, and an overall great experience.

we recently ventured here and were blown away with the overall quality here. the inside is unique and comfortable. it also boasts a large outdoor seating area which is well suited to bigger groups, and the sound proofing is excellent as guests on the inside of the restaurant won't hear a thing of what is happening outside.

the service is excellent, all of the staff are super friendly and there is a certain flair to the way they all operate. they all know the menus really well and are able to assist with most questions you may have. the food comes out really fast, which is also a plus! overall the service here is pretty much faultless.

cibo has a fantastic menu that caters for most. all of the dishes sound delicious and the most difficult decision you will make is having to only settle on one thing. i got the whitebait and lamb with scallops. these were all beautifully cooked and were simply delicious. my partner got the co2 battered fish which was declared as some the best they had had. the real feature here however, is the extensive pavlova list jumping out from the dessert menu. there is a plethora of pavlovas to try and they aren't small! if you come you definitely have to try one (maybe two). the prices are also very reasonable considering the portion sizes.

overall this is a must try in parnell, it can't be recommended enough. definitely get there soon.

not a fan of writing review but got some spare time today so yeah, we went to this cool and lovelyplacea couple of days ago, very impressed when entering the restaurant, black interior but with pink wallpaper to light this wholeplaceup. the foods were absolutely stunning , i like the duck, beef fillet a lot, the texture is kind of rich rather than tender, i guess it is sous vide style, we also had 2 starters not outstanding but i enjoyed them, the dessert is turkish parvalova? it’s great. only a minus is the guy served us was a little bit pushing when we were ordering, he was trying to be efficient rather than friendly. it was a nice meal in general.

my husband and i had dinner at this romantic restaurant. i’m glad he chose thisplacecoz it was perfect for the occasion. the staff immediately greeted and welcomed us when we arrived. the table that was given to us was peaceful and sort of we have our own area. i must say that the service was excellent! and not to mention, the food was absolutely delightful. i enjoyed every bite. we had the duck parfait for appetiser and the special menu for that night, which was whitebait dish. for mains, we had rib-eye and duck pastilla. the combination of the ingredients was all perfect. we devoured the food in seconds. the turkish pavlova was so yummy as well. overall we had a wonderful evening at cibo. excellent sevice and delicious food!

only thing nice is the ambiance however not aplacefor vegetarians or vegans. another fine dining (not) restaurant with that does not know or understand vegetarian. not a single decent vegetarian dish, very disappointing.

cibo is the 1st restaurant i dined at on my first trip to new zealand -- 20 years ago. i had a great meal then and a similarly tasty meal on my most recent visit. cibo a ten dollar taxi ride from the cbd but easy to get to over on georges bay road.

first, i was pleased to see so many pescatarian options on their menu since i now eat lower on the food chain -- i only eat seafood and vegetarian.

however mains have crept up over the $40nz per plate and some of our mains were tidily tiny. so, it's not the kind ofplacewhere you go hungrily for for a big hearty meal.

our entrees were beautifully prepared and my co2 infused battered fish was most yum. fries pretty traditional parisian bistro frites -- similar to "golden arches" fries.

finally, my cherry and mandarin sorbet with dried fruit of each was a great finish.

cibos is one of those upper end restaurants but have the most lovely and friendly staff who you can joke with. most other fancier places the staff are usually snobs but here you feel so welcome. this is my family's go toplaceif we are going out, usually if we can't decide on aplacewe will always come here. they have amazing cocktail, last time i got queen of hearts and the time before was a tolberone one. could not fault this place, live it to bits

by far the best dining experience i have ever had in auckland, thisplaceis amazing! the service really set it apart from other restaurants. we had the same servers throughout and they really took care of us. they were attentive without being overbearing and definitely added to experience.

the food is excellent. it is great quality ingredients cooked and plated in a modern way that simple and not over the top. it is exactly my type of fine dining. one of our group was celebrating their birthday and the staff singing happy birthday was really lovely.

i wasn't checking my watch waiting for the food to arrive because it is such a niceplaceto be. the staff are casual and friendly but are also knowledgeable and professional. i want to come back for a degustation asap!

back for more. it really is the bestplacein town! cocktails are to die for. the cocktails "napalm in the morning" and " i'll have what shes having " were divine. the service is sublime. genuine and attentive. just right. the meal perfect. claudia.

had a very pleasant visit to cibo's on the weekend. definitely tucked away in parnell off the beaten track, but don't let that put you off for a minute - just means parking is easier. 

firstly, the food.... we ordered the sashimi, wagyu carpaccio, tuna, duck, and finished with a cheese plate. these were all very nicely prepared and presented, the servings were surprisingly generous. the duck was a little dry, but only a little.  the carpaccio was cut a bit thick for my liking, but it was a beautiful slice with some fantastic flavours on the side.  overall, the food experience was very enjoyable and felt satisfied with pricing. 

i did find it rather disappointing that we were given disposable, nasty little chopsticks (think cheap takeaway style) though for the sashimi. likewise, an odd thing to be given two dinner knives to cut our selection of cheese with. 

the lighting was a very nice touch, soft white natural lighting, with a darkened bar area with a loungy feel. the layout was certainly not crowded and you had the choice of outside or inside. 

as with all of my reviews, iplacea high weighting on service quality and friendliness. i have to say this exceeded my expectations. our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list, he was attentive but not overly so - nice to have good humour too. from my observations, the other staff seemed all much the same way. this was evident even from my email communications to arrange the reservation.

all up, expect to pay a minimum of $150 ish per head for dinner and a few drinks. the menu has enough for everyone and the quality left me very satisfied. the service is something more auckland restaurants should aspire to.

cibo is one of the finest dining
establishments in auckland. the elegance and style certainly adding that extra
bit of specialness to any celebratory occasion. beautiful interior which is not
overly formal and a hint of industrial funkiness makes cibo an idealplacefor
all generations.

for entre i had the citrus cured
salmon. this was just delectable to the last bite. every morsel bursting with
sensational flavours.

the hawkes bay lamb lollipop with
the mint gel and zucchini puree was glorious. stunning flavours that worked
well together.

there were various dishes had
amongst the table, everyone taking great delight in every bite. the wine
selection is fabulous with great choices from home and abroad.

cibo is a greatplacefor any occasion
and one of my favourites to celebrate a special occasion. always delivering
exceptional service, food & wine.

cibo i would recommend if you love desserts this is theplaceto be. excellent customer service waitstaff offered recommendations regarding wines again excellent product and wine knowledge. desserts and the presentation with each individual plate were good.the music was good as well good easy listening acoustics what better way to set the theme of this magnificent restaurant overall great service.
