had a beautiful meal here a few weeks ago, delicious and wonderfully presented and the service very attentive. also, the wine list was extensive and had some of the best wines on offer. no wonder this place gets suchgoodreviews...
would highly recommend.

my boyfriend took me here for valentines day set menu. it was a surprise and i haven't been here before.
i must say the set menu was really good, the paired wine with the dishes was also very smooth. for fine dining, we ended up feeling very full after an entry, 3 dishes and dessert. that was agoodsurprise.

however, because it was valentines day and super busy, we had a table by the walking path of the waiters. the waiters were very hyper and loud last night, meaning it was difficult to have an intimate conversation with some one suddenly yelling out something. also they were so hyper and walked so briskly, they kept bumping into our table as we sat beside the walking path. maybe being valentines day, just being busy. would have preferred a quieter and more intimate environment for valentines day.

i have been hearinggoodthings from cibo and always want to go for a try. luckily we have a company event at cibo today and i am able to try a 2-course meal which both the entree and the main was amazing. the balipork was so good, verygoodbalancing of fat and meat.
my favourite was the lamb. it was cooked perfectly. absolutely juicy and soft, with the sauce that have a bit of sweetness to brighten the dish up.
both the dishes in verygoodportion. i will definitely be back again and so looking forward to try their dessert next time when i dine in. it was a verygoodexperience.

i came to cibo for my 19th birthday dinner with my friends. at first, there was some communication error such as when they called to confirm my reservation, they said 6:30 pm as opposed to 6:00 pm but that was quickly fixed. i arrived around 6:00 pm and they were still setting up the table. the service from the manager was great! he was super friendly and made sure our night was smooth.

we all got different dishes and it wasgoodbecause we weren't required to order from a set menu. what i like about cibo is the entrees can be made into a main, making the menu more extensive and unique. the menu makes it seem like they throw random ingredients into a combination you've never heard or thought of but it is super delicious. i got the lamb/sticky rib/mint/black garlic/pistachio dish, most of my friends got the wagyu beef, while a few got the fish and chips, hapuka and bali duck. we also got two orders of fries and kumara with duck fat on the side to share, between the 11 of us.

my lamb was good. my favourite was the rib since it was super juicy and flavourful from the fat and i'd be super satisfied if i just got the ribs. the lamb meat itself was alright, it was a bit underseasoned in my opinion (lacked a bit of salt, which they do give you on the table) but matched well with the different sauces on the plate. it was cooked medium rare as well. what i thought was unique was the oats on the plate, that added a nice crunch to the meat and went surprisingly well with it! i really like cibo's menu since it's quite adventurous. the fries were also a favourite from most of the people on the table, as it was cooked well (vadouvan mayo went super well with the fries) and it was also seasoned well. the duck fat kumara was pretty average in my opinion, still tasty, however. if you do not like your wagyu beef to be cooked medium rare/rare, you must inform them as they do not ask how you'd like your beef to be cooked!

there are no cake fees if you're bringing your own cake, they even put some cream on the side for you as well! totally appreciated that!

i'd love to come back to cibo to try their other dishes as i believe their combinations are super unique and worth a shot.

we decided on impulse to drop by cibo for lunch today - rewarding ourselves for making a final decision on the car we definitely have to upgrade!   it was agoodidea because lunch at cibo is always special.   on this occasion it was such an improvement on our sunday lunch experience down the road at ostro.   today the food was great (though there was just a tinsy bit too much of it), the service was friendly whilst not being too intrusive (nobody asked me what my plans for the rest of the day were for example - ???)  and my only complaint was that i really did not have room to give the desserts any consideration whatsoever!

ate last night at cibo, must say was disappointed as the long standing establishment did not live up to its reviews!
i started with the chawan mushi after living in japan asked if it was traditional like in japan, my waiter said yes! it was anything but, came as scattered mushrooms on a plate with 2 sml cubes of tofu! nothing special at all.
my main was a spicy hapuka in a seafood type broth with a porridge mush on the side! very rich and couldn’t finish it. also very disappointing for $46. desert was pavlova! not traditional at all. it was marshmallow cubes with a sweet sickly sauce. far to sweet impossible to finish.
there are so manygoodrestaurants in auckland so for those prices needs to up its game.
presentation is well executed, the service was it’s saving grace.

terrific food - terrific service - a bit pricey, however.  nevertheless, worth going back!   i see my review is too short......oh well i expect i will go back again soon as it is a mere three minutes' walk away.  last winter they did lunch specials - two courses at a verygoodprice (forgotten exactly how much), which we tried several times.

this is definitely the lowest i have ever rated for a fine dining restaurant. it was our first time coming to cibo and we were recommended to try their degustation menu. we ordered an additional half dozen of bluff oysters which was really delicious. definitely a highlight of the night along with the cured salmon and lamb. the lamb was cooked to perfection and the balance of flavours of the salmon dish was sensational. the biggest let down was the duck parfait for the entree. the duck parfait was super rich and salty, the flavours on the dish were too strong and overwhelming and quite heavy as an entree. i only managed to get through two cubes of the duck parfait. the duck ham pastrami was definitely an overload on the palette and there needed to be more raspberries to balance out the richness of the dish. the salmon would of been the best option to serve as an entree. we asked the waiter if we could swap out the char siu pork belly bai for something else and he surprised us with a tiger prawn dish w quail egg. the flavours were nice however the prawn was overcooked.
overall, our dining experience wasgoodand the restaurant has a lovely ambience. the total came to $323 which is identical to other degustation places with other places having a lot more to offer so great value for money. next time we will try cibo's a la carte menu.

we had read a fewgoodreviews about cibo and so decided to try it out. we were happy that the restaurant lived up to it's reputation. overall service was attentive and friendly which was great. we had dinner on a weeknight and the ambience was lively.

food: the pork belly entree was enjoyable,  i particularly liked the pulled pork doughnut which was a creative touch. we did find the dish was a tad rich, even though there was pineapple to balance the flavours. we were impressed with the presentation of the dish. the duck liver parfait was pleasant and there were plenty of croutons to accompany the dish. for mains we ordered the gameford duck leg and chargrilled angus pure eyefillet. the duck was enjoyable served with an eggplant crumble which hadgoodflavours, however the dish was not very memorable. we were very happy with the eye fillet, served with a unique oxtail roll that resembled a mini toasted sandwich. the sauce was very flavoursome! for dessert we ordered the tiramisu tube which was a different take on the traditional italian dessert. we loved how light and airy the contents of the brandy snap tube was.

we had a great dining experience and would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys fine dining, but also just delicious food and friendly service.

had a very pleasant visit to cibo's on the weekend. definitely tucked away in parnell off the beaten track, but don't let that put you off for a minute - just means parking is easier.

firstly, the food.... we ordered the sashimi, wagyu carpaccio, tuna, duck, and finished with a cheese plate. these were all very nicely prepared and presented, the servings were surprisingly generous. the duck was a little dry, but only a little.  the carpaccio was cut a bit thick for my liking, but it was a beautiful slice with some fantastic flavours on the side.  overall, the food experience was very enjoyable and felt satisfied with pricing.

i did find it rather disappointing that we were given disposable, nasty little chopsticks (think cheap takeaway style) though for the sashimi. likewise, an odd thing to be given two dinner knives to cut our selection of cheese with.

the lighting was a very nice touch, soft white natural lighting, with a darkened bar area with a loungy feel. the layout was certainly not crowded and you had the choice of outside or inside.

as with all of my reviews, i place a high weighting on service quality and friendliness. i have to say this exceeded my expectations. our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine list, he was attentive but not overly so - nice to havegoodhumour too. from my observations, the other staff seemed all much the same way. this was evident even from my email communications to arrange the reservation.

all up, expect to pay a minimum of $150 ish per head for dinner and a few drinks. the menu has enough for everyone and the quality left me very satisfied. the service is something more auckland restaurants should aspire to.
