chubby’s tacos, the wildly popular fast-casual spot for tacos, burritos and quesadillas, does right by mexican food. whether you choose fishtacos(my favorite), steak fajita burrito or spicy carne asada nachos, satisfaction will always reign supreme. portion sizes are also impressive, particularly when it comes to the colossal burritos and the pressed-sandwich tortas. never mind the reasonable prices (tacos are $1.50-3 each; quesadilla grandes just $5.50).

amazing. i live 60 minutes from here but most every time i come into the big city i make time to stop here for sometacos- al pastor are my favorite!

very good fishtacosand burritos. i would eat there more often...items are on the pricy side. one very small soft taco was nearly $4.00! should have gotten two or a larger soft taco for the price.

for my money, these are the besttacosin raleigh. relatively inexpensive, but not dirt cheap. make sure you check out the salsa bar and try each one. they also have cheerwine. only downside is that things get pretty crowded during lunch. be prepared to wait for a seat if going midday.

i love the food, my review is more about the recent price hikes. i believe the cheapesttacoshave gone from 1.99 to 2.99, and my favorite, the chubbychanga - was raised from 3.75 to 4.99. a 33% price increase? that's ridiculous. i understand a little something about inflation, but a major part of the appeal of this place was the quality/value aspect. it's just not really there anymore.

quick and good. we love this little "hole in the wall". don't let this small and dark place make you leave. we go to this location at least 3/month and we would go more if it wasn'the so far away. you have to order at the counter and they will bring the food to you. most of the items are bought individeally but combos are available. chips are all you eat and there's a large salsa bar. we like thetacosovery the burritos because you can have a few different ones. each taco is generous with the toppings so we just order two each. we've tried most of thetacosbut continually go back to the same ones. we do prefer thetacoson flour rather than corn, but you'll have to request the flour. no extra charge and thetacostasteuch better. my husband likes the carnitas and baja shrimp tacos. he asks for lime and squeezes it ovet his shrimp. the baja shrimp are breaded and fried. i like al pastor (pork chunks and pineapples with a bit of spicy sauce) and grilled tilapia (a generous piece). this place is very busy and if the tables are full, they should open up when you order, because the service is fast. so for under $20.00, we get 2 drinks, 4 tacos, all you can eat chips with salsa, and plantains (without the sauce.) we have always had great and fulfilling food, and good and fast service.

do it! go there!. yep... go there. fresh and authentic tasting chow. menu prices are excellent. i can get 2 bigtacoswith chips and salsa for about 5 bucks...seriously, you can't beat that.
beware that during peak lunch hours the line will be out the door. having said that, i believe that tends to be a good thing and that the people are there for a reason. chubby's is my new favorite place :)

perfect taco's. the atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. thetacoshad the prefect textures and great sauces. i could have a whole meal of just their chips they aren't oily and are thin. overall it was better then i expected and will be returning in the future. highly recommend. also prices were very reasonable.

tasty and inexpensive. a tasty change of pace from normal mexican food. always packed at lunch so get there early if you want to eat there. their tofu/veg and the portobello options are quite good in both thetacosand the burritos.

the salsas range from mild to pretty darn spicy, but they are all packed with flavor.

service is efficient - a must for a place this busy.

because they are packed, it leads to a lot of takeout orders. i wish they'd wrap thetacosbefore stuffing into the styrofoam- by the time i got back to the office i had to reassemble everything.

didn't care for it. my wife took me here knowing that i am not much of a taco guy. there are a lot of mexican and south american foods i enjoy, buttacosare just not my thing. that said, chubby'stacosweren't on the better end of my limited spectrum. the tinga was way too spicy to actually taste anything. the tilapia was watery and tasteless. not impressed.

hands down the best mexican restaurant. thetacosare delicious. the salsa are delicious. i have introduced many mexican food snobs to chubby's and they all melt when they taste the food.

excellent. this is so much better than el dorado, rancherita, tres mageuys and all the other local chains. the food is fresh, full of flavor. the staff are friendly. the atmosphere reminds me of places i used to eat at in dallas, phoenix and la. this place is what mexican food is about!

good food, interesting crowd, friendly staff and a cool interior make this a top mexican eatery in the area.
