delicious food! shrimp tacos and carne asada tacos are flavourful yet banging and they have asalsabar! it's a must try, go to restaurant.

a unique little dive that never disappoints as far as the food is concerned. the place could be a little tidier, but there is such a turn over of diners  that i'm sure it is hard to keep up with. the cost is very reasonable and thesalsabar is my favorite feature.

for my money, these are the best tacos in raleigh. relatively inexpensive, but not dirt cheap. make sure you check out thesalsabar and try each one. they also have cheerwine. only downside is that things get pretty crowded during lunch. be prepared to wait for a seat if going midday.

quick and good. we love this little "hole in the wall". don't let this small and dark place make you leave. we go to this location at least 3/month and we would go more if it wasn'the so far away. you have to order at the counter and they will bring the food to you. most of the items are bought individeally but combos are available. chips are all you eat and there's a largesalsabar. we like the tacos overy the burritos because you can have a few different ones. each taco is generous with the toppings so we just order two each. we've tried most of the tacos but continually go back to the same ones. we do prefer the tacos on flour rather than corn, but you'll have to request the flour. no extra charge and the tacos tasteuch better. my husband likes the carnitas and baja shrimp tacos. he asks for lime and squeezes it ovet his shrimp. the baja shrimp are breaded and fried. i like al pastor (pork chunks and pineapples with a bit of spicy sauce) and grilled tilapia (a generous piece). this place is very busy and if the tables are full, they should open up when you order, because the service is fast. so for under $20.00, we get 2 drinks, 4 tacos, all you can eat chips with salsa, and plantains (without the sauce.) we have always had great and fulfilling food, and good and fast service.

great fish tacos.salsabar was also a nice touch. sat outside in the sun. all this served with a smile and very reasonable price. definitely a "like".

do it! go there!. yep... go there. fresh and authentic tasting chow. menu prices are excellent. i can get 2 big tacos with chips andsalsafor about 5 bucks...seriously, you can't beat that.
beware that during peak lunch hours the line will be out the door. having said that, i believe that tends to be a good thing and that the people are there for a reason. chubby's is my new favorite place :)

meh. nothing special.. people rave about this place. it's nothing special. it has a greatsalsabar, but i think you have to have an emotional attachment to think the food is great. it's just a taco and burrito bar.

hands down the best mexican restaurant. the tacos are delicious. thesalsaare delicious. i have introduced many mexican food snobs to chubby's and they all melt when they taste the food.

excellent. this is so much better than el dorado, rancherita, tres mageuys and all the other local chains. the food is fresh, full of flavor. the staff are friendly. the atmosphere reminds me of places i used to eat at in dallas, phoenix and la. this place is what mexican food is about!

good food, interesting crowd, friendly staff and a cool interior make this a top mexican eatery in the area.

nom nom nom!! grilled fish, grilled chicken & steak fajitas are great with good portions! chips &salsabar are flavorful. great hole in the wall for happy hour too! friendly staff.

great mexican tacos. went to the chubby tacos in rtp and loved it. had a few of their tacos to sample what they had and loved every bite. thesalsabar had fresh cilantro which i really liked as i love cilantro in all my tacos. very affordable, friendly staff, and great service. definitely a regular lunch location for me.

pretty darn good. just went today for the first time and really enjoyed the atmosphere and service. the food was fantastic and thesalsabar is kept up really well- full and fresh. also- had fun sitting at the bar watching the large flour tortillas for burritos being made. had the chicken tinga taco which was very nice and the barbacoa taco- which was not my favorite barbacoa (can't beat la vaquita here) but definitely good.

yes.. i just discovered chubby's a couple of months ago. nothing fancy, just really good food and a great value. my favorite taco bar in raleigh, so many choices....

really enjoyed the tilapia and shrimp tacos as well as the barbacoa and carnitas burritos (ok, one time the barbacoa was a little dry...but the next time it was outstanding). thesalsabar is excellent, the staff very friendly and accommodating...and the pre-mixed margarita's are surprisingly good. "make it a meal for $2" (additional) and you are guaranteed to not leave hungry.

what a cool place, especially in this challenging economy.

yum. been here three times now since they opened and really like their food. they have an excellent selection of tacos, all styles, many choices in meats and served on corn tortillas. they have lots of authentic choices to go with tacos, gorditas, burritos, quesadillas, etc. all the meats are flavored well and thesalsabar is awesome. at least 6 choices there. friendly staff and a bar area too. looked like they were building outdoor seating when we were there last night. definitely the most authentic taqueria i have been to in nc.
