chotiwala

it’s absolutely waste of money, there are 2 chotiwalas, i tried one which is from 1960,.
poor poor food, i tried thali, all vegetables are basically potatoes.....dry and gravy.
potatoes were rotten,( see image).
watery daal, but i guess they only getting customers because of old name.
totally worthless, bad taste of food.

i have to first commend on the location and view from this restaurant. they are located right on the way to ram jhulla and have a stunning view of river ganga and the ghats from their 1st floor dinning area. it is a pretty famous place but it did not live up to it's name. i ordered their iconic thali. quantity was sufficient to fill 2 people's bellies but i was not too sold on the taste. the gulab jamun was really nice. the service here is really quick and their staff is also extremely friendly.

very bad experience starters and main course ohhh aa thoo wo thanda tha saara khaana very bad taste nt recommend go there very bad ambience.

ordered paneer tikka which was not roasted properly and was cold ... next time they gave paneer tikka by just heating it on pan ... which was not tandoored

the food is genuinely good and the location is breathingly beautiful, but the service is absolutely horrible. waiters are not assigned tables, and they're running around the whole place half listening to the customers which resulted in us getting our glasses after our meal was done. we were reduced to complaining to the manager. overall, you could go for the view and the food.

recently visited chotiwala. they had employed a human mascot representing the name. it was funny but attractive. ordered a regular thali, paneer butter masala mini thali and a masala dosa. the sambar and dosa were a little odd sweet. rest of the food however was good.

there are two such joints adjacent to each other. here i'm rating the first one while going to the ghat. visited this place after listening to so many good things from my parents mouth and like. but since the place is run by the successive generation, this place will leave you disappointed. this is a self service place, plus the staff is not very well trained. the food is okay though. i would certainly recommend people to try some new food joint instead of the traditional place.

when you are in rishikesh you cant miss the famous chotiwala. whatever the people say it is over hyped , not good is just crap. i had the food here in august 2011 and now again in my recent visit last weekend had the food. believe me it has not been changed since yet. 

when you are coming from ram jhula this is the 2nd one, a person with choti will be seating at the entrance. the place looked the same as it was in 2011. we were two people and were hogging on the streets trying food so we were half full and still wanted to taste the maximum food.  
so ordered one deluxe thali -  which had 11 items in it and tasted the same as it used be. they serve pure vegetarian food which we use to have 10 years back when shahi paneer was not suppose to be sweet.

the place is great for having some good north indian food. would definitely visit again in my next visit too.

recently visited chotiwala restaurant rishikesh.
ambience was nice and staff service was good.

ordered special thali - enough for 1.
in this thali they provide 500ml packaged water, salad, achaar, mix veg - properly cooked, dal makhni - well prepared, kadhi pakoda - that was ok type, paneer butter masala - tasty and yummy, rice - well cooked, papad, mix raita - very tasty, breads- choice between tawa roti and tandoori roti and very yummy gulab jamun also. overall nice food.

food is not dat good but it was ok....this place is surely over rated. prices are too high n ambience is not dat impressive. i would not recommend it to anyone else. aloo paratha was tasteless.

one of my favorites in rishikesh. not only because of rates but also due to great food, good service, very scenic location by the ganges. they offer a wide variety of cousins from north indian to south indian. they also deliver food and their packing is better than domino's or pizza hut. one can try their special thali which is my favourite.

i have been here many times. this place has great food and at very reasonable price. they dont overcharge any food item. airconditioned seating is also available.

best place to go to in rishikesh for a pocket friendly typical indian meal. good service and decent decor and food. don't forget to click a picture with choti wale uncle!

situated along side the river ganges it has a beautiful location. it's a really good restaurant with great food and service too. one of the must try restaurant of rishikesh.

the view of ganga is great, but the ambiance is ok. food options are limited. you don't even get chat, samosa and sandwich. food is not exceptional, it is ok.
