great value with good portions! i ordered the lu rou fan, and it comes with a generoussidedish (i got fried boneless chicken). you can add $1 extra for a drink (wintermelon or black tea).

there also cheap and smallsidedishes that you can get from the front to accompany your meal.

service is quick. it seems to be a restaurant thats always has lines so be prepared. they do take your order when youre waiting to be more time efficient.

we visited this taiwanese eatery last week after many years of absence, not being in the area that often. it was great to see that the food is just as good as it was 15 years ago, very reasonably priced and well cooked. service is friendly and efficient. their set meals come with a main, rice and a couple of accompaniments (usually egg, vegetable or tofu) and a slice of orange to finish. there are also a variety of smallsidedishes on display that you can pick and choose from. the place can get busy but turnover is fast.

a clear winner in the area, much like the small taiwan street restaurants, the place is quite small and can only fit a few people in at a time. i ordered the taiwan minced pork with rice set with asideand you can add a drink for +$1. the minced pork has a great taste and the radish gives it an extra flavour. there's a lot of rice so it is very filling and i would recommend thesidedish of fried chicken or pork chop. overall, they have fast service and have had a great experience.

one of my favourite places for taiwanese food in sydney. their pork mince rice is my favourite! the small rice + aside+ a drink for $14 is a steal! you definitely get your money’s worth and a full stomach as well.

you would think they sell dumplings but they don't. this place should be called taiwanese king because they do damn good taiwanese snacks and dishes. we go for the beef noodle soup but admittedly its been quite bland lately. the fried chicken is always good though as well as theirsidedishes like pig ears, tripe, seaweed salad and tofu.

the very best hot & sour soup in town, i never get it anywhere else. must've had it here dozens of times over the years.

for something like $11 you can get taiwanese minced pork on rice, soup, and a choice ofsidedish - try the fried tofu. if it's before 5pm, there's a soup &sidedish snack deal for a lot less, & you get to sit down with hot tea as well. small & crowded, which is fair enough for the price.
efficient & busy takeaway service.

the cold dishes are small, cheap & interesting. if you're not an offal fan then check the descriptions carefully, or ask. vegetarian dishes include chilli bamboo shoots, mashed potato, fried eggplant, soya skin, pickled cucumber.... eat in or takeaway this place is reliable for good food, bargain prices, no frills.

no dumplings here.... hehe. but what they do sell is traditional taiwanesesidedishes and a menu of yummy taiwanese food too. there iced green tea drink is probably my most favourite item besides thesidedishes whenever i go there. the stewed pork with rice is also a hit and the beef noodle soup is a must try also! possibly the best taiwanese food i've had in sydney ever!

first thing's first did you know that cho dumpling doesn't actually sell dumplings?? i know right. #falseadvertising. instead they have a smorgasbord of taiwanese set menus andsidedishes, the latter being available inside "buffet style".

no, they don't sell dumplings. but they do sell excellent stewed pork rice! cheap, filling and very authentic too, even thesidedishes themselves are great and worth trying out. i think this is in fact the best taiwanese joint i've been to in australia.

thesidedishes for $3.50 are one of the best parts about this place. you can also get them takeaway, a good addition to a take home roast duck from emperor noodles. clockwise from top left: a salad of soy beans, pickled mustard greens and grated bamboo shoot, or was that potato; cold baby octopus in a light soy; hard pressed tofu sliced with chilli; dry fried green beans with speckles of pork mince.

cho dumpling king is always surrounded by a queue of people. often you'll find a staff member acting as bouncer to the crowds. she hands out menus with brusque efficiency, and it's only when you've placed your order that she'll put your table numbers down in her notepad queue. the restaurant name is a bit of a misnomer. there are no dumplings to be found here. instead it's a mix of taiwanese dishes, all printed in large on the window, each accompanied by photos. the window offers a visual enticement ofsidedishes, all neatly plated and ready to be served. you only need to decide on your main meals outside before you communicate them to the bouncer --sidedishes can be chosen ad hoc once you're inside the restaurant. thesidedishes are cold but wide and varied, including pig ears, deep-fried white bait, pork hock slices, potato salad, golden fried prawns and plates of baby octopus. they're also super cheap at only $3.50 each. queues outside cho dumpling king the restaurant itself is
