if i had to pick a favorite, it would certainly be chimayo. it’s a fun slightly upscale spot that isn’t too stuffy. the atmosphere is lively and the decor is mexican with beautifully carved wooden tables and benches and stamped metal light fixtures. try to get a cozy booth! with festive plates and glasses, it’s a nice place to enjoy a high quality southwestern meal. i’ve been several times before, and when my sister and her husband joined us in park city this year, it seemed like the obvious place to take them. our meal was delicious as usual. great wines, mexican beer, and tasty margaritas (despite utah state law prohibiting any more than 4 ounces of tequila being a part of one), and terrific food. i have the same thing every time i go to chimayo. stuffed breast of chicken “nac

me and my girlfriend came in for our anniversary, her salad came with multiple pieces of hair in it. she even ate a piece of hair and had to pull it out of her mouth. felt like they took advantage of us because we are teenagers. they ended up charging us for the salad. they also gave us churros for our anniversary, that we never asked for but they charged us anyway. the steak i had was very tough and hard to eat. the manager kept sweat talking us trying to get us to leave a good tip and to leave a good review. he totally took advantage of us, trying to get the most money out of us as possible. greedy and selfish, not coming back again.

an amazing take in main street. start with a great margarita. then drift into the menu. so many great things. i had the eel flank steak entree which was spectacular. marinated elk grilled and sliced horizontally. finished with a great dill bernaise sauce. french green beans sautéed with peppers and these amazing potato quesadilla. truly the best thing on the menu. there is a trout also that is as fresh as it gets. it’s not real cheap here but you won’t be disappointed

my significant other and i had the opportunity to dine at chimayo last sunday evening. we had a terrific experience! the manager julie greeted us warmly at the door, and seated us at an upstairs table. we started with an appetizer of the ceviche, and it was outstanding. chimayo has figured out how to do ceviche right. the sauce is so good we had to dip our bread in it to ensure we didn’t lose a drop! we then followed this with the buffalo alambre, a chipotle glazed buffalo skewer. i don’t normally care for red meat, so was going out on a limb for this selection. it too was outstanding, the glaze was tasty yet not overwhelming, and the buffalo was lean yet tender. these two apps were filling enough that we didn’t need anything else before the entrée. we were both in the mood for fish, and ordered the black cod al horno. if you like fish dishes, this one is not to be missed! it was tasty, flavorful, and the passion fruit-habanero butter sauce was ridiculously good. we were getting pretty full by now, and asked our attentive server tyler for his recommendation on something relatively light that would satisfy our sweet tooth. he arranged for a cherry almond ice cream bar, cut in to five pieces that was the perfect way to finish off a great meal. once again, arturo, julie, tyler and the chimayo crew delivered an “over the top” dining experience – delicious and interesting dishes with every course, outstanding service and a great atmosphere. we will be back again soon!

bad management. made a reservation weeks in advance. received several phone calls confirming reservations, even day of our reservations with "see you at 8:15 "..upon arrival we were told your reservations is going to be delayed an hour. there were 7;00 pm reservations still waiting..they had my number ..why not call and tell me its running late..we had taken cab to restaurant so now we are in downtown park city trying to find a walk in table for six.
this is the results of overbooking...we left a number and got called at 9:20 , notifying us our table was ready...very disappointing!!

the verdict? don't waste your money. main street today is for beer, tex-mex, pizza and pub food. if you're looking for a dining experience, you're going to have to descend into the inversion. i'm hopeful that a few of the new entries that i have not tried will change my opinion here, but in any case i strongly recommend avoiding chimayo.

a bit pricey, but ok. there's only so much you can do with mexican food and this is effectively just an expensive mexican restaurant. my chicken dish was basically a chicken tortilla (for $36) and my wife's salmon dish, whilst quite nice, at $44 is possibly the most expensive main course i've ever had to pay for.
food is generally nice (if you like chicken tortillas), service was good, but i have to say, it is expensive

unique, fun atmosphere and amazing food. yes it is pricey but the prices are on the menu so it's not like you didn't know it was going to cost you. presentation was creative and the wait staff was knowledgeable and friendly. we were in marks section and he took great care of us.

pricey. while the food is more creative than chili's, i do not agree with the reviewers that have the opinion the food is amazing. some dishes are better than others - the spare ribs probably being one of their best dishes. trout fajitas had really tasty trout, but typical fajita "condiments". for the price i was expecting something really creative. everything from drinks to appetizers to the main course dishes are overpriced, and the culinary creativity may be lacking, or just not successful. park city restaurants are known for being pricy, and chimayo is another pc place that doesn't deliver as promised.

a rip off. chimayo is not worth the money plain and simple. in addition to the $44 entrees being only so so, the restaurant was very cold with the front door continually being opened and the service was definitely what you would expect for a $$$$ restaurant. i sent back my chicken dish because it was cold and when they brought me a fresh plate the food was still cold. honestly i was amazed at how crowded the place was considering all of the above.

delicious!. we stopped into chimayo in park city one night and had such a good meal, that we ate there every night of our trip. food was pricey, but exceptional. everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection.

it was so good, that we are now not only excited for our annual trip for park city for skiing, but also for our dinner at chimayo.
