hurstville
just 3 weeks old, this restaurant is becoming a must place to visit in hurstville.  just along the forest road, its not difficult to locate, although it could use a little lighting outside so you could see the name of the restaurant.

we arrived around 6:45 pm, but the place is not yet packed.  once inside we were welcomed by the staff and asked if we will be dining in or take away.  since there were still a lot of vacant tables i suggested near the window but suggested the ones by the wall.  the reason being the floor has a slope not good for the bub.  isn't that nice?  i rarely see staff being attentive to their customers.  anyway, ambiance and staff was already winning me.

for the food, we ordered half chi koko boneless fried chicken, half boneless red koko, pork belly ramen and steam rice.  our ramen arrived first, then the rice followed by the chicken.  the ramen smelled funky according to the husband when it was served but.....yes...but it was good and he slurped it all the way to dry land.  the chicken was an absolute hit.  it was crunchy and tasty on the outside and the meat inside was juicy.  the bub enjoyed it very much.  the red koko was sweet with a hint of chili.  the ramen on the other hand was spicier.  but the overwhelmingly so.  it was the perfect burn.  the bub even had three refills.  and the size was good enough for two to share.

i have nothing but good praise for this shop.  oh, i hope the serving size could go a bit bigger.  the one with korean fried chicken in strathfield serves almost the same menu and rate but more serving.  other than that it was a good meal.  total wallet damage for the meal was $62.  must must visit again.

newly opened korean restaurant mainly serving korean fried chicken. they also have a few other choices to choose from the menu such as bulgogi, teriyaki chicken & ramen. actually there is no need to add anymore fancy items to their menu because the fried chicken is the star & winner. it’s fresh, succulent, flavoursome & crispy without any greasiness. their fried chicken is absolutely authentic that truly represents the culture. 😍

i also tried their spicy marinated pork with rice. the spicy & sweet marinate made the pork super delicious, went so well with the hot steamed rice. 😋 it also comes with mild kimchi & pickled radish on the side, a perfect complement to refresh the palate. 😃

actual rating 3.5/5

located in a moderately spaced store, chi koko was packed on our saturday night feed. there was extreme understaffing, as we were left waiting by the door with other patrons as empty tables remained unattended.
food wise, there is a decent selection of boned and boneless fried chicken, as well as other popular korean dishes such as ramen, mandoo, and tteokbokki.
we ordered the cheezling koko(only came in a whole size), mad red koko and ramen tteokbokki.
the cheezling koko was delicious- highly recommend! the mad red koko was nice and not as spicy as one would expect from the name. the ramen tteokbokki however, was cooked too soft for my liking.
there was only one side dish given, a small portion of picked radish which was difficult to refill due to the understaffing issue.
overall, i would recommend checking it out if you’re in the area, but maybe try to avoid peak times or hope that chi koko hires more staff.

hurstville’s brand new and only* - korean fried chicken restaurant. reviewing fresh off its grand opening it delivers exactly what korean fried chicken is ; fresh, juicy, succulent and crispy without feeling weighed down by frying oil. the chicken is the best korean fried chicken i’ve had to date, better than arisun which is a big claim. the chicken is really the star and the care taken that each morsel of chicken an experience for the senses is clearly evident.

food;
red koko - fab fried chicken with slightly spicy red sauce. not enough sauce for my liking but can always ask for more sauce
sweet soy koko- same as ^ highly recommend
boneless cheezling koko - unlike other places that usually make this type of chicken dish dry and really unpleasant to eat, chi koko adds a clear and distinct parmesan taste that comes through delightfully
noodle tteokbokki- a stable korean dish done properly
dumplings - a juicy and meaty experience with crush bonito flakes adding almost a takoyaki like experience
rice balls- a bit on the dry side, but can easily be rectified with some extra kewpie mayo. otherwise another standard korean dish done alright
steamed eggs - perfect. better than others due to a stronger depth of flavour coming from some pieces of beef and garlic

service
being a family owned restaurant the staff is relatively small, being that the staff consists of the mum cooking the chicken in the back and daughters and nieces serving. that being said the service is slow due to the amount of staff, but servers and service made the experience overall was very nice

ambience
a nice and cosy restaurant, relatively small but was told they would increase capacity.

highly recommend/10

normally don’t get the cheese covered chicken and boneless but decided to give it a go since this place just opened. do not regret it one bit as the chicken is a lot juicier than most places i’ve been to. typically boneless chicken is dry and the cheese snow just make it even drier. but not here.

juiciest chicken i’ve had easily in sydney. no need for a thick coating of sauce, meaning the chicken itself is flavourful and stays crispy. highly recommended
