decided to try out this cafe for a quiet brunch as i was in the area. thesettingis lovely and secluded from the roadside. it wasn’t as quiet as i was hoping for as they were hosting a baby shower at one large table but that did not affect me greatly.

i tried the saturday special which is a pile of 3 delicious golden brown crumpets with vanilla creme fraiche and a drizzle of honey. they were absolutely delicious! i’ve also tried their gluten free granola on a separate occasion which i’d highly recommend because i loved it and i don’t usually enjoy granola (mostly due to the oats which is conveniently missing in this mixture). the coffee was a medium blend and well made.

the waitress was friendly and attentive.

had a late breakfast there - i had eggs salmonnaise and my partner had eggs hollandaise (same sauce on each dish).

our arrival was a bit confused as the hostess was nowhere in sight, but two other staff stepped in and after a couple of minutes we were comfortable seated in the pretty courtyard.

the best part of my meal was the mushrooms under the eggs and smoked salmon, closely followed by the first cup of filter coffee (outstanding). my partner ordered his eggs to be poached medium but they were closer to hard than medium. the sauce was ok; nothing to write home about. i liked his apple, ginger and carrot juice, but he was disappointed they didn't have classic orange juice.

thesettingis really pleasant - a sun-dappled, leafy courtyard with a number of arty shops for those feeling like a little browsing. there is safe, easy parking outside.

the service speed improved as the meal went on. staff were polite and friendly throughout.

what more can one ask for than an 'high tea' meetup that turns out to be more of a wine and snack tasting afternoon.
this was really a great way to end my week and the chelsea village courtyard was just the rightsettingtoo. the atmosphere is relaxed and homey, with a lot of plants and flowers giving it a somewhat tranquil and fresh feel. we were welcomed by champagne and a team of exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. the first 'course' of our afternoon tea consisted of a freshly baked baguette from stellenbosch's own schoon de companje bakery with a choice of thai green curry mayo and moroccan coriander pesto mayo. the bread was of course delicious, but the dipping sauces were out of this world!! they're homemade, fresh, and i feel like everyone should have some of these sauces in their fridge.
next, we decided to share a brie, tomato and beetroot chutney sandwich, a 'frenchie' toasted sandwich, the ny cheesecake, and the flourless chocolate cake. all were tasty, but the sandwiches definitely stood out for me. more specifically, it was the beetroot chutney one that really won me over. flavourful and interesting, this dish is comfort food at its best. paired with wines by delaire and waterkloof, these dishes were just perfect for a light afternoon snack. overall, a lovely and very relaxing afternoon.

this is a hidden gem found in the chelsea village courtyard, with the glass room and well positioned foliage it gives a real green house feel! perfect for an afternoon tea gathering with all the girls, it is a small and intimatesettingso you don't have to worry about being over crowded. (let's be honest no one loves a crowd- especially at tea time- the most important hour of the day)
but to he point that really matters- the food! upon arrival pastries are on display making your choice all the more difficult as they all look fantastic. the menu appeals to savory and the classic sweet tooth- with toasties(try the 'frenchy'- delicieux!) and an array of desserts, with special selections for the sugar-free, gluten-free fun-free folk aswell;) the restaurant prides itself on their crunchies which contain wheat and oats freshly ground that morning- do yourself a favour and try these with a fresh cuppa!

we had a snacks and tea (wine) foodie meetup at chelsea café, and it truly was the perfectsettingfor a homey and somewhat girly afternoon. the café is beautifully decorated, with treats and pastries strategically placed around the restaurant to make anyone salivate upon arrival. to start off, we had some freshly baked baguette from schoon de companje bakery, served with a choice of thai green curry mayo and moroccan coriander pesto mayo. not taking anything away from the actual food to follow, but this was possibly my favourite part- if you find yourself stopping by, you have to try these dipping sauces. so delicious and home made! we then shared a few different savory and sweet dishes, namely, a brie, beetroot and tomato toastie, a "frenchy" with ham and melted cheddar (to die for), flourless chocolate cake and lastly, the ny baked cheesecake. the dishes were simple but tasty, with my only disappointment being the flourless chocolate cake. the meals were enjoyed with a choice of incredible wines from waterkloof and delaire.

chelsea bean cafe, where have you been all my life and can we be best friends from now on?

i've been to this stunning restaurant twice now, and both times i have been blown away! from the beautifulsettingto the gorgeous food, it's no surprise this one cute little granny spends most of her days there (the owner mentioned this - i'm not a creep)

on my first visit i tried out their chicken malay curry with cauliflower rice. my word! spot on absolute perfection. and paired with a little jar of their beetroot chutney - i left no evidence of a meal ever touching the bowl or jar.

second time round was with my zomato family for a meetup. starter was a cauliflower soup, main was the burger stack salad, and pudding was a slice of carrot cake. incredible! the soup was smooth and subtle but still so flavoursome. the burger stack salad was the perfect combination of healthy, fresh veggies with a tasty homemade patty drizzled with a vinegarette - the only negative was that the patty was a bit dense and overdone for my liking. and finally, the carrot cake. no words.

chelsea bean cafe is without a doubt a spot worth visiting. if the decor isn't enough to win you over, i guarantee the incredible food and service will make sure you come back for more.

absolutely fell inlove with chelsea bean cafe. i was lucky enough to be invited to the zomato foodie meetup and with a table full of ladies and a delicious bottle of bubbly, the weekend was off to a fabulous start. the food is fresh and as organic as possible making the food healthy and yummy. we started off with a delicate cauliflower soup, moved on to a choice of mains, i had the oxtail jus which reminded me of home and filled my soul with fuzzy feelings. the dessert.... as a sweet addict, the choice was beyond difficult... in other words i picked off of everyone's plates to try all the treats on offer. i had, however, chosen the chocolate torte which stole my taste buds and took them to heaven. overall, thesettingis beautiful and compliments the menu perfectly.
