the cake was overpriced and horrible, it tasted like the inside of a fridge. i used to love this place, but i am so disappointed lately, i hope that they improve

unfortunately both service and food was poor and unfortunately it happened twice in a row, so will not be going back. it is a pity though as we love the setting.

the night before dave and i went overseas, we met friends for dinner. as we did not want to travel too far from home, i chose seafood at chelsea. situated in somerset west, this is certainly worth the drive. when dave made the booking they did not let us know that they were not licensed. this was not an issue, but something to keep in mind if you want to drink alcohol with your meal. they do not charge corkage which is a plus factor in my mind.

excellent place for a breakfast: warm buzzy atmosphere, fine service and great coffee. my french toast was warm and rich and the bacon was properly crispy. if i lived in these parts i'd be here often.

in no particular order;  * parking  -  woefully insufficient* venue  - quaint , friendly and welcoming* staff  - pleasant , friendly and attentive * food -  we shared a lunch time seafood platter for 2 , it was underwhelming at best.  it took way too long, was overcooked, dry fish, insipid mussels, tasteless oily calamari... yuk.  we live next to the ocean, fresh mussels delivered to ct twice a week , why use frozen seafood ?  the fries were great and the lemon butter side sauce was superb. 
major gripe .. box wine ??  really? we live in one of the best wine areas in the world.
this place has the potential to be a helderberg drawcard , and worth another try in the future , right now , you can do better in many within 1km radius.  step up folks!

had the best thai chicken wrap here. super tasty. great service and ambiance as well. good menu selection too. my children shared a ham and cheese toast and loved it as well.

decided to try out this cafe for a quiet brunch as i was in the area. the setting is lovely and secluded from the roadside. it wasn’t as quiet as i was hoping for as they were hosting a baby shower at one large table but that did not affect me greatly.

i tried the saturday special which is a pile of 3 delicious golden brown crumpets with vanilla creme fraiche and a drizzle of honey. they were absolutely delicious! i’ve also tried their gluten free granola on a separate occasion which i’d highly recommend because i loved it and i don’t usually enjoy granola (mostly due to the oats which is conveniently missing in this mixture). the coffee was a medium blend and well made.

the waitress was friendly and attentive.

went there for cake with my daughter. what a disappointment. the flourless chocolate cake was tasteless and the apple crumble was soggy. completely overpriced as well. r45 for a tiny piece.

had a late breakfast there - i had eggs salmonnaise and my partner had eggs hollandaise (same sauce on each dish).

our arrival was a bit confused as the hostess was nowhere in sight, but two other staff stepped in and after a couple of minutes we were comfortable seated in the pretty courtyard.

the best part of my meal was the mushrooms under the eggs and smoked salmon, closely followed by the first cup of filter coffee (outstanding). my partner ordered his eggs to be poached medium but they were closer to hard than medium. the sauce was ok; nothing to write home about. i liked his apple, ginger and carrot juice, but he was disappointed they didn't have classic orange juice.

the setting is really pleasant - a sun-dappled, leafy courtyard with a number of arty shops for those feeling like a little browsing. there is safe, easy parking outside.

the service speed improved as the meal went on. staff were polite and friendly throughout.

nice, quaint little place. reasonable prices and decent service. i had a salmondaise. i'm a big fan of salmon and it was real good! my friend said his red chai milkshake wasn't the greatest... although he should've seen it coming given that red chai isn't really a good milkshake flavour.

what a lovely little cafe in somerset west. we had a burger and a wrap and both dishes were very tasty. the carrot cake was one of the best i've ever tasted. will definitely visit again.

wonderful little breakfast spot! they make an amazing cup of coffee and their eggs benedict were delicious👍🏻i recommend chelsea cafe to anyone that is in there area 🙌🏻

had a lovely small english breakfast they serve banting bread which was lovely as we don't get those options much! quaint little place with little artisan stores all around! loved the vibe super friendly and helpful staff! very reasonable ... definitely be back thanks

good food. slow service, but good service. the setting is wonderful and tranquil. perfect for a saturday morning brunch. the latte's are great.
