char restaurant

best chicken friedsteakin miss. best pecan pie in the country ! filet is good, rib eye was not so good. the bisque is wonderful. the waitress' are beautiful & attentive. i eat there often. my only complaint is if you want the best thing on the menu, the chicken fried steak, they only serve it at lunch.

char is always an excellent choice when i’m in jackson! thesteakwas amazing and the lump crabmeat atop the mahi mahi was literally just that.

goodsteak... thats's all. started off with the wedge salad. it had good flavor until i got to the bitter core of the lettuce. they need to remove the core. the steak, a rib eye was very tender, but a little over cooked. the side which was asparagus and mushroom au gratin had a lot to be desired. it was small ... maybe a 1/4 cup and was basically asparagus (all stem) a few mushrooms and shredded cheese on top and heated in the oven. go for the steak, but avoid everything else.

terrible, slow service. waited an hour and a half for entrees and when thesteakcame out it was rare, not medium. the waiter caught an attitude. we definitely don't mind spending money on a nice meal, but this was not worth the price.

never can get into it.. last night was my third or fourth time going to char. i'll provide a pretty brief rundown of the evening.

i was there to meet a friend and her mother, who ordered the grilled chicken and the ribeye respectively, as well as an appetizer (the spinach crisp) and a cup of the black bean chilli. i ordered the black and bleu salad.

the black bean chilli was good but over salted. my salad was over dressed and the accoutrement of cheese and walnuts had settled down at the bottom of my plate. i had a disappointing amount ofsteakon top. my company's meals fared better as the chicken was very good and thesteakwas great.

which is the overall problem i have with char.

i've had their strip, ribeye, and filet. all incredibly good. char doessteakwell. it's everything else that i find lacking and keeps me from taking the restaurant "seriously".

like my friend, i'd bring my mother (or father) to char, but if i'm aiming to impress, or treating myself, i'll get dinner, and maybe even steak, some where else.

a+!. the bread loaf ahi tunasteakwas excellent. at first intold the waitress i ordered the tuna, thinking theynjust served me a 16oz. filet. they assured me it was the tuna, and when i cut into it, you could see the freshness of fish. the horseradish mashed potatoes were so good, i try to make them regularly at home. nice atmosphere, great service, good wine selection.

beststeakin town. if you want to have a favorite place to eat at i highly recomend them

good but, dissappointed. i had the privilege of trying out the new menu at char this evening. the brussel sprouts were really good and pungent! i was saddend to see that my favorite, the asparagus au gratin, was taken of the menu. also, i'd like to see thesteaktoppings back again (i.e. lump crab, shrimp and bernaise sauce). too many pork and corn dishes for our liking :(

a good lunch. riding early and not as far to get to jackson i was able to enjoy a rare thing, namely a lunch that was not "on the road".
this is a nice place and while i'd have liked to sample the dinner menu to see how thesteakstacked up to those back home in cowtown i was happy do something different today.
i ordered the crab claws and thesteakand bleu salad.
the claws were a nice treat and i wish i'd had more of them. the sauce was nothing to write home about but on the whole i enjoyed this appie.
the salad was a mix of greens, pecans, onion and red pepper with tender beef covered with bleu cheese and a light fruity dressing. i found the flavours worked well and while not the salad to end all salads this is something i'm going to try and replicate at home.
the staff was not as good as i'd like but certainly average for many places i've dined.
finishing with my favourite dessert, namely pecan pie which was fairly good i left pleased with this recommendation and thinking of perhaps giving salads more chances.
