we went for lunch (which is served until 4 pm, according to the polite hostess i called). they were out of the beef brisket i was set on ordering, so i settled for the roast beef sandwich while my dad ordered the fried oyster sandwich. the roast beef sandwich was good, not great. the beef was tender and accompanied with an abundance of horseradish mayonaise (however the sauce was not enough to overwhelm the tastebuds). my dad seemed more enthusiastic about his fried oyster sandwich and his gumbo appetizer. the prices on the lunch menu are reasonable. look at the lunch menu before ruling this place out due to price. i give this place neither a like or a dislike overall- but i suspect i would have enjoyed some of the daily lunch specials.

best chicken fried steak in miss. best pecan pie in the country ! filet is good, rib eye was not so good. the bisque is wonderful. the waitress' are beautiful & attentive. i eat there often. my only complaint is if you want the best thing on the menu, the chicken fried steak, they only serve it at lunch.

they have a new chef now and a seasonal fresh menu and the food is fantastic and the service is unbelievable great experience every time

decent food. for your money, you are better off at shapley's. it's decent for a nice restaurant. it's definitely expensive and popular. if that draws you, have at it. the filet is not worth the price. i do a better one at home. if you want a fine dining experience and get what you pay for... i'd stick to shapley's.

cannot go wrong with eating here. lunch is reasonable. staff is knowledgeable. full bar so you can get real drinks. ok for family but older kids would be better

char is always an excellent choice when i’m in jackson! the steak was amazing and the lump crabmeat atop the mahi mahi was literally just that.

great short rib on tuesday. the creamed spinach is also very good. very attentive service. one of the better restraunt in jackson. def should give this restraunt a try

best crab cakes i have ever tried- i especially love how the side greens are seasoned to compliment the dish. my favorite butter crunch cake and pecan pie are absolute heaven. great food great service. try it.

great service, high end dining. great atmosphere, good for a special occasion dinner. ordered fish, which was good but not incredible. appetizers and desserts were great, husband and father were impressed and it was a great dinner out!

i love a good benedict. the southern benny is good in concept but i think the execution was a little off that day. it was more than a little burnt. we would go back though.

still one of my favorites. took in a recent dinner with friends at char. we started off with some crabclaws that were very well prepared. fresh, flavorful and well prepared. for my main i ordered the 14oz bone in pork chop and it was simply outstanding, seasoned and seared to near perfection served with garlic smashed potatoes and broccollini. a wonderful dinner was fined off with what they claim is jackson's best desert a pecan carmel butter crunch, and honestly after trying it i won't argue that....it was fantastic.

me and my dad went here today and both had the 12 oz. filet and it was outstanding! our waiter kevin was very courteous and always was checking on us. i would recommend this place to anyone in the jackson area if you live here or if you're in town visiting!

my husband and i came to jackson for an overnight getaway/shopping trip away from the kids...i did some research and decided to try char. it didn't disappoint! we are self proclaimed filet snobs. and it was perfection!
