you would think that since this place is so popular the owners would hire agoodwait staff. but no, they are sub par at best. the steak is verygoodbut not worth the price of sitting next to multiple tables full children who run around and no one from the restaurant says a word.

best steak in el paso. this place is the best in the el paso area.the coleslaw is also really good. very kid friendly. nice atmosphere. views are also fantastic. they also no how to make martinis and other mix drink right. this place is a 10 compared to the other steakhouses and restaurants around el paso. to bad you have to drive out of el paso to getgoodfood but this place is worth the drive.

great place! went again last night and watched the coyotes eat the scraps that were thrown outside. had the 14 ounce ribeye. it was very good, but not asgoodas the cowboy t-bone i had last time. beans and cole slaw's also very good. service was friendly, helpful, and quick. next time i plan to order the rack of ribs. they look great.

best steak in the el paso area. for the property alone, this place is worth a visit! seating is plentiful!! scenery is drop dead gorgeous. get there before the sun goes down for the best views and make sure to check out all the animals!! you can't go wrong with a single dish on the menu.goodcowboy cooking and the best meat selection around. the filet will fall apart in your mouth.

when i first went to cattlemen's i remember it was bit of drive east of el paso out in the desert off a dusty little road a few miles from the interstate.  still a 30 mile drive, but well worth it even now.

a little different, however, in that it has grown from a very rustic old-west type of restaurant into more of "touristy" place with animals for the kids to see and so forth.  but, the food was asgoodas i recall with great steaks and other choices like beef ribs and, even seafood (really, in the desert?) plus all the trimmings from cole slaw to beans served up as "all you can" with the entree.  very pleased overall.

so, not a 5?  well, it caters a little too much for the tourists and the server was a bit off his game with little interaction with the guests - so, not perfect.  worth the drive, however, and i would recommend going just before sundown to catch some scenic sun sets over juarez and el paso.

ps:  i can't find any site on zomato for juarez - so, i have to mention it here:  try la borrega for mexican food if you feel safe enough to be in the town.  made up for the just average food i had the night before in el paso.

filthy!. i cannot understand all the oohs and aahs over this place. it's very filthy, the food is palatable at most, granted the meat portions are large but the flavor is poor. it seems like something the poor or obese might enjoy.. the "any food isgoodas long as the portions are big" type.

the carpets are filthy, the entire place made my skin crawl. i would take a month with a steam cleaner.. no, i'd have to rip all that carpet up and put down some wood or tile. i can't imagine what peoples homes look like whom call that "a great place". it's disgusting!

look no further!!!. if your looking for a great steakhouses in the el paso/faben's area look no further. catleman's steak house has the most succulent, juicy, flavorful, and well seasoned steak. hands down best steak i ever had. when you take a bite it melts in your mouth and the flavor of the steak hits that spot in your mouth that stimulates that area that triggers you to salivate and grave more even when you are full. you know the type of food you keep on eating even though you had enough but it is sogoodthat you keep eating? well, that's cattleman's in a but shell. sides are delicious but who cares. the steaks are what you are after. get some jalapeños and eat them with your beans and steak. forget about it. the place has been featured on the travel chanel on numerous shows including the top 10 steak houses in the country. need i say more? i'm doing you a favor, just go get you some.

el paso holy baby!. enjoyed a memorable dinner entertaining business associates here. nothing negative to report at all.....appetizer of beef cubes was succulent, and the 28oz "cowgirl" was amazing! salads, sides, wines, all great and what you expect. it is way out there in the boondocks (i remember seeing a border patrol suv) but the place is famous and well traveled withgoodroads. being greeted by the parking lot attendant on a horse was quite the impression. snake pit, movie wall, etc. made it all enteresting. really a texas experience.

not just for cattlemen. coming from el paso, it's a little bit of a drive. but nothing like a little drive through the desert at nite to whet your appetite. deep in the heart of texas, the stars at nite are big and bright and really light up the sky as you approach the ranch. then, the lights of the restaurant slowly steal the night time show as you get closer and find a place to park among all the pick up trucks (and cars as well).

nothing but wood smoke and grilled meats . . . just howgoodcan that smell?!? the answer was inside as we were escorted after a 30 minute wait to our table . . . and the answer is, "plenty damn good". i felt a little sheepish (don't say that word around a cattleman) about ordering a "cowgirl" instead of a "cowboy" steak. but at one and a half lbs. i mean, come on!! this cowboy was ready to handle a cowgirl (double entendre intended), but the man vs food size of the cowboy at 2 lbs. was way too much.

man, i felt like fred when they slapped that dinosaur sized steak down in front of me. long story short, i consumed more red meat that nite than i had in the two weeks previous.

i have been hard pressed since to find asgooda steak for its flavor, tenderness, and texture. that was a steak just toogoodto be true. maybe i just imagined the whole thing and it was just an altered state caused by someone slipping in a little peyote into my margarita that nite. wrong!! it was thatgoodand i was still picking beef out of my teeth all the next day like a dog savoring agoodbone. tmi (too much information) i know, but you get the picture.

wow! a must try!!. my husband travels the country for work and thus is always eating out. i often travel with him and we search forgoodbbq and steaks. rare to find both in the same place. but here we have. we have tried hundreds of steakhouses and bbq places but none compares to cattleman's. i ordered the ribeye and it was cooked perfectly to my request. i had my steak with the herbed butter and it simply melted in my mouth. the pineapple coleslaw was also very good. we eat here every single time we visit el paso. since our son lives here we visit for pleasure also. after many trips to this restaurant we have been amazed every single time. this last trip was thanksgiving day and although they were absolutely packed and service was not great it was still very good. after all each server only has two hands :-) we will continue to eat at cattleman's every visit!!!!

rule 51 - sometimes you're wrong!. a couple of years ago, i tried the cattleman and was less than happy. well, everyone can have a bad night so on my latest trip to el paso, my partner and i stopped at the cattleman to give it another try.

first - the service. from adriana (the hostess) to daniela (the beverage server) to ericka (our server) - outstanding! friendly, attentive without being intrusive and they made great suggestions for our meals.

and the meals - we both went with the wagonmaster which is a one and a quarter pound t-bone. cattleman is running customer appreciation days through the end of november and to get a perfectly cooked (medium rare) texas tbone for $22.95 is a steal. sides (baked potato, beans and great coleslaw) were all very flavorful.

wine list is fairly priced and the desserts (pecan pie!!) were outstanding.

the service was sogoodthat i stopped by to thank mark, the manager.

ericka, daniela and adriana - thanks for a great meal at the cattleman.

disappointing dinner. while in el paso on travel, i went to the cattleman's steakhouse (cs) with high expectations: great write-ups on the 'spoon, great reviews and great recommendations from locals.

the cs is a bit of drive from downtown el paso. the grounds are stunning, especially for sunset facing west.

ribeye, medium rare, recommended by the server as the house speciality should not be a major challenge for the kitchen. the first time it came out well-done and the second time, it came out rare.

service was mixed (thanks cindy - but your partner could use some of your personality and your attention to customers).

that said, my high expectations were not met.

no brainer. amazing steak!!!. this place doesn't really need anymore reviews, because if you're from el paso you already now it is the best place for steak and bbq in the entire county and possibly in all of texas for price and quality. the steaks can't be beat, the ribs are fall off the bonegoodif you're lucky enough to get them while they last and the atmosphere is out of this world. walking the grounds is likewise an experience all by itself, whether you do it before or after the meal. they have ostriches, rabbits, rattle snakes, prairie dogs, and buffalo to be seen along with dozens of other animals. the kids can play in the maze or on one of the coolest fort/playing areas i've ever seen. if you are from el paso and haven't been shame on you, and if you are in or near el paso visiting or passing through, make time! you will not regret it.

meanwhile... back at the ranch.. food – i ordered the 14 oz. rib eye, done medium well, with steak fries. all of the meals at the cattleman’s come with “trim”, ranch beans and pineapple coleslaw. the presentation was neat with a slice of carrot and parsley for garnish. important - the steak was done medium well, which is hard for some steakhouses to do and i’m not sure why. very important – the steak tasted delicious. it was very juicy and the seasoning rub they use for steaks lend the meat this wonderful “southwestern” flavor. the fries and “trim” weregoodtoo, but not asgoodas the steak. here’s why - the fries are tasty for sure, but obviously from a bag. the ranch beans were also tasty, but didn’t seem as spicy they could have been. the coleslaw was sweet and delicious, but watery and not creamy. all-in-all, i liked the food very much.
service –the service was very professional. my table had two servers, one for cocktails one for the main course. both servers were on-time, attentive, and well-mannered. the food was served on-time and plates were cleared in a timely manner. they also made sure that we were happy with our meals.
establishment – the cattleman’s steakhouse is a massive restaurant that’s located at indian cliff’s ranch out in fabens, tx. as such, the décor is a cross between a contemporary country restaurant and a wild-west museum and art gallery. i’m really not kidding. there are display cases throughout the restaurant and every other flat surface that isn’t a dining table displays artwork that’s for sale. that being said, it comes together in a way that makes the meal feel like an experience, not like a trip to the museum. the restaurant feels warm and inviting and it is very clean and tidy, despite the huge amount of traffic that it sees every day.
summary – the food was delicious. the service was good. the ambiance made the experience great. this restaurant did was a restaurant is supposed to and it was worth the price.
