good beer & cocktail list and tasty food. can be a bit pricy, but i've never had bad food here. we often opt for the snacks to save a buck. love the brussel sprouts and polenta fries!

we've had mixed service here. some days it's amazing, other days it is slow. when it's busy, it seems to worsen. however, there is agreatatmosphere here and it's agreatplace to grab a fancy drink.

sunday night dinner - james bond theme. i was invited to a bday dinner on sunday night at cascade room. my initial reaction was that it was a cool social setting in a hip area like main and 12th. i did find the place quite loud but maybe it was because we were seated at the back of the restaurant close to the speakers. in any case i went through the menu and thought it was quite small but did notice they change it seasonally. this is quite nice to see but i would have preferred more option. reading past reviews it looked like hand cut fries were quite popular but while perusing the menu what peaked my interest was the polenta fries. for $7 i thought this was agreatdeal due to the rosemary savory taste, the delicious yet mild curry aioli sauce that accompanied the dish and of course the quantity that was offered to me. i also decided to order the roasted beef dip (more because i was craving beef but also because i wanted to try the hand cut fries). personally i didn't care for the beef dip. even though the sandwich had a few slices of thick beef i thought the meat was quite dry and the au jus was thinned out. my friend ordered the veggie burger with an upsell from the server to have it with cheese. well the cheese didn't help with the veggie burger and it did not look that appealing and based on her comments and how she left part of the burger on her plate she was not happy with the item. all in all other then the polenta fries and friendly staff members i don't have much else to say about this restaurant. i wish they put at least another 3-4 more items on the menu if it is going to keep changing seasonally.

good food, fun atmosphere. went here for the first time on a busy friday night. we were seated right away, surprisingly. i ordered one of the specials, the lamb shepherd's pie with salad, my partner ordered the chicken and goat cheese pot pie with fries and salad. delicious! tons of flavours, reasonable prices, large portions andgreatselection of beer and wine.

a few complaints: the music is a little too loud for a restaurant; the regular menu is quite small.

the scotch eggs are killer !

we are regulars at cascade and are never disappointed.
the cocktails are the best in the city and we loved the new menu items.
the guinness mac and cheese with bbq ribs was delicious and the mussels were juicy, we asked for them to be made spicier and the chefs did agreatjob.
can't wait for the next quiz night.

good hang out. this is agreatplace to meet friends and watch a game. the service is good and the atmosphere is alive. the appetizer menu is not great.

the service the night i went was slow - probably due to it being grey cup weekend. but the manager ensured our drinks got to us when the waitress did not.

great selection of drinks. this is my go to place for when i don't want to go far for food or drinks.

with agreatselection of drinks, i never find it hard to pick a drink that suits my mood.

i've only ever ordered 2 items for food here though, the pizza and the polenta fries. the pizza is a thin crust, with fresh toppings. the polenta fries i was hesitant to order the first time, but i am glad i did. they were crisp on the outside, and a wonderful soft texture inside. also love the curry mayo dip that accompanies them. i heard that this is similar to a curry mayo that many folks from ireland enjoy. does anyone know of the curry mayo (sauce) in ireland?

the atmosphere in the place is relaxed, even when its packed. i never have felt rushed to hurry my visit. service has always been attentive enough, answered and recommended things.

all in all, i like this place, which is why i keep going back.

great cocktail list. the food is kind of tasteless...lackingspice/salt or something. the drink menu isgreatthough, with lots to chose from. they put a lot of effort into their cocktails. modern and hip bar/restaurant. if you like food with lots of flavourful spice, i wouldn't recommend this place. if you want a burger and fries, this would be the place to go.

great.. here i had the polenta fries,,, i was very surprised ..they are actually really tastey and good,something differnt is alwasy ok to try when it comes to fries.they were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and the dip for them were exxelent.i would definatley go here again.and the server wasgreatas well!!

best quiz night in the city. and the food is good too! although, the menu could use a few more veggie or poultry options. drinks are great, good vibe andgreatservice.

started out so well.....but incrementally has gone downhill.. when the cascade opened it was the bomb. the bartenders were excellent they knew their drinks the staff were fun. it was asgreatplace to go. it seems as it as gotten busier the quality of everything has been going down. the food was never all that great. the drinks the best quality and best deal in town so the food was easy to overlook. the menu has not improved the staff are getting like old mules. if they aren't working they are hanging around talking with the ones who are working. a large group of my friends used to meet there often but the last few months every time cascade comes up no one really gets excited about going. it's sad since it was the best place in the city by far for a lot of reasons. it seems like it's time to clean house get some less miserable staff and switch up the menu or the kitchen altogether.

cool place, good food. finally got around to trying this place after driving by it so many times and thinking that i must. it didn't disappoint. really nice atmosphere,greatservice and interesting and well prepared food. pretty good portions too! only complaint would be that the crisp calamari was anything but. again,greatbig portion, but not that crispy and the squid was kind of tough. that's the only complaint. otherwise the food wasgreatand i really enjoyed it.

one curiosity is that that there is a brit angle to the place. it is hardly a 'ye olde pub' kind of place, but there are subtle references to britain, like the beer served in "real pint glasses". this is funny because so many bars list beer in pints but deliver a far smaller glass. in britain, this would be a crime and the bartender would be hanged. at least i think that's the punishment. they are very touchy about their pints, which is why they literally fill them to the brim.

anyway, the place must be owned by a brit, but there's nothing british about the food (good thing!).
