expensive pub food that's really not worth the money. probably a good place to go for beer when you're hanging out withfriendsbut the food menu ain't worth it.

one of my biggest pet peeves is flakiness. specifically when you’ve arranged to meet someone, and they wind up canceling on you at the very last minute. i find this especially annoying since i tend to take transit most places, which means that by the time i get the inevitable text i’m already on my way to meet them. unfortunately this happened to me recently. i was supposed to be meeting sevenfriendsfor dinner at the cascade room for a pre-christmas celebration, and arrived a half hour early so decided to grab a drink at the bar and chat with the bartender while i waited for the others to arrive. sure enough within fifteen minutes of our appointed meeting time, i received texts from four differentfriendscanceling last minute. the excuses ranged from “double booking dinner” to “having a headache”. suffice to say i was not impressed.

terrible experience. one of the worst restaurant experiences i have ever had in vancouver. the service was ridiculously slow despite it not being very busy. ordered a drink and 30 minutes later i asked the waitress again for it and she rolled her eyes and said it was coming soon. no apology or explanation. eventually someone took our order, but it was not worth the wait. the food was cold, bland and mushy. i had a veggie burger, which had very little flavour. the bun was stale and the patty and chips were cold. my husband had a roast beef sandwich, the beef, chips and dip were stone cold. none of ourfriendslike their meals either, except the polenta fries which were the only dish that came out hot. my husband sent his sandwich back, the waitress brought it back a couple of minutes later. it had clearly been microwaved because it was now mushy and unevenly hot. the waitress said, if he didn't like it this time he probably didn't know what a roast beef sandwich was meant to be like. she then snatched the plate away and said "we are done here". no offer to order another entrée. myfriendswere then triple charged for one item and the waitress and manager said "it was too complicated" to determine if we had been over charged until they cashed out at the end of the night. they offered to call if they determined we had been over charged, however they never asked for a phone number. avoid this place, there are way too many other places in the same city that offer the same food & drinks but have better quality food and service.

good hang out. this is a great place to meetfriendsand watch a game. the service is good and the atmosphere is alive. the appetizer menu is not great.

it is a fantastic place to get together with a group offriendsand a pretty awesome place for a date night. the restaurant is comfortably loud but not painfully so, you can still hold a conversation. the decor is pretty cool, with some elements that make it feel like a updated version of a 1950s hotel lounge and some awesome modern elements. the menu is decent sized and focuses on local sourced products. the prices are reasonable, the portion sizes are great, and the service is always friendly and attentive. in a nod to british pub culture, monday nights have become quiz nights at cascade. questions are "general knowledge, " registration is between 6-7 for a prompt 7:00pm start. maximum of four per team, $2 to take part, and the winning team scoops up the proceeds to go to the charity of their choice. this quiz was not easy!!!! questions ranged from topics like world population, current events, geog

not impressed!. i was here for afriendsbirthday. i arrived late because i was working. so when i got there and sat down the server notices me but doesn't ask if i want a drink or food or anything. finally after walking back and forth a few more times she ask me if i want a drink. i ordered a drink but didn't order any food, i tried some of the food that myfriendshad ordered, it was nothing special. won't be back, staff just looked like they didn't care.

went here a while back with twofriendsof mine, one of whom is a regular there. it was about midnight, and we wanted a nightcap. there were several other tables seated in there. i ordered a beer, and sat at the bar. there was a shooter special that night, so i ordered three from the bartender. as i'm waiting for them, a blonde lady at the other side of the bar starts gesturing, saying "no" (it was quite loud in there). i wasn't sure if she was talking to me... she walked over and told me that she was the manager, and that she wasn't going to allow "her" bartender to make "fancy" shooters (it was the frickin' special!) at midnight. i tried to say something, but she wouldn't let me get a word in. he then went on to tell me that it was last call (no one had told us that), and that she only let us in "to be nice" because our friend goes there frequently. wtf! i've been a server/ bartender for over 12 years. i would expect this type of treatment from a young, inexperienced waiter, but from management?! ridiculous. if she is that bitter, maybe she shouldn't be in the service industry. i had never been there before, and that woman has inspired me to never return, and to tell others the same thing. this is the first unfavourable review i've ever written, but i think it's warranted.

over rated. i metfriendsfor drinks and dinner at cascade room in may 2011 and ordered the sausage pizza -- it was terrible. soft, thin, mushy crust and way too much sausage - didn't taste very good. over-priced as well.

cascade room is for the see-&-be-seen types, not for those looking for quality food, reasonable prices.

started out so well.....but incrementally has gone downhill.. when the cascade opened it was the bomb. the bartenders were excellent they knew their drinks the staff were fun. it was as great place to go. it seems as it as gotten busier the quality of everything has been going down. the food was never all that great. the drinks the best quality and best deal in town so the food was easy to overlook. the menu has not improved the staff are getting like old mules. if they aren't working they are hanging around talking with the ones who are working. a large group of myfriendsused to meet there often but the last few months every time cascade comes up no one really gets excited about going. it's sad since it was the best place in the city by far for a lot of reasons. it seems like it's time to clean house get some less miserable staff and switch up the menu or the kitchen altogether.

started with a bang now just as flat and lame as earls without the pretty girls....
