good food, but a little pricy.. we enjoyed our dinner at casa maya. it is right off the main drag of st. george, and simple to find. they have about 4 tables outside and about another 10 inside. when they fill up expect to wait for tables and servers attention. we passed the time sipping on 2 of the hibiscus sangria's ($24 for carafe that serves 4). we are vegetarian and found enough items to order off of the menu, and were happy to learn that the soups were made with veg stock. if you eat meat and fish i think you will be a happy camper here as the most interesting menu items featured fish.
we did order a delicious salad that had tempeh as one of the options. the veggie empanadas were probably the highlight of the meal along with a cup of black-bean soup. we also tried the guacamole which other reviewers have raved about but found it to be pretty normal, if you are from the southwest or california you will not be that impressed. for dessert we had a slice of keylime-mango pie, it was a small piece but tasty.
overall it was a good meal, and a nice atmosphere, and as a vegetarian a good find. it seems like most of florida is eating their way through the little marinelife that is left in the adjacent oceans.
my only reservation about this place was the cost, our meal above (we shared all items, and had two glasses of the sangria @$7 each, not the carafe) came out to about $66 with a 15% tip. a little pricey for a shared veggie meal for two even when you subtract the $14 for 2 drinks. but if your budget is not a concern or you want to splurge on a good night out with your friends or sweetie, then casa maya and the friendly staff is a good choice.
