hands down the best bar i’ve experienced in auckland. i love the ambience and the theme of the bar! we went on tuesday which was jazz night and it was amazing 😻😻 i was more drunk on the atmosphere than the drink. the staffs were so friendly and amazingly patient, explained everything and was very welcoming. you don’t see a lot of bars that has everything perfect- and this one was. i will definitely come back! perfect for a date night as well 💓

shhhhhh......it’s secret! fantastic new york prohibition underground bar. bar tenders / mixologists are the shizzle! there are no menus, they ask you what you like and make cocktails to suit. bang on every time. $19 per cocktail, well with the experience, had a great time!!

every time i've been to caretaker i become obsessed with it all over again. the entire atmosphere is an experience, with the method of ordering drinks making the whole night one hell of a time. i've been in a few times, each time ordering a variety of different specifications and the bartenders always come up with the most insanely great drink.

this is a hidden gem in britomart near orleans. it’s a quirky underground bar, instead of having a menu they ask you what type of alcohol you want and the type of flavours and particular taste you are after.
eg. i asked for gin and a more citrusy taste. the result was a drink that was customised and delicious. beautifully presented too. definitely good for the pickier drinkers.
the waiters there are very helpful and attentive too.

prices are quite standard for cocktails too.

$76 for one alcoholic cocktail and a mocktail - we were very surprised with the huge bill, never paid so much for just two drinks. personal experience and friendly staff, but felt gouged.

caretaker was recommended by a friend and it was one of the best cocktail evenings i ever had! they take their 'caretaking' very seriously! each of the three cocktails i received were absolutley delicious and fit the description i gave them. i was very vague when i ordered, because i wanted to be a little bit suprised with the cocktails and they delivered. my two friends both were more specific in their ordering and each time got something they liked as well.
they offer a small selection of cheeses and meats that you can combine on a cheeseboard.
their cocktails were about 19$, but the price is totally worth it.
the atmosphere was very enjoyable, the music and other guest were not too loud, the conversation could be easily maintained.

loved it!! 2 from our group got a bit claustrophobic....but it's def my kinda underground place. great atmosphere and drinks. bit cramped though.

loved this new underground bar in town. the bar inside is dark but it has a good vibe to it. staff are quite friendly and knowledgable about the drinks. the cocktails are pricey $18 bux, but okay for once in a while drinks on a night out. for a saturday night the place was full, there is limited seating as the bar isn't as big inside. we had to leave some mates on the upper level bar as there was no space, which was probably the only downside. overall it's a unique bar to go to, would defs recommend it to anyone who's keen to go to a chill, not to loud space for drinks in town.

definitely one of the coolest bars i’ve been to, hard to find so make sure you take someone who’s been before! be prepared for no menu, so have in mind what you like. a little on the pricier side for a cocktail but the service and experience is definitely worth it ! will be back :)

this is a secret bar hidden downstair of a club. i liked the 'no menu' thing where the bartender creates a cocktail tailored to your mood and taste preferences.

out of the 8 of us, 7 of us really enjoyed our drinks. one of the friend did not find his cocktail as sour as he would have liked, which sucked because he still had to pay $19 for it. but for the rest of us although the drinks were on the pricier side, it was worth it for the experience.

the cheeseboard was amazing, and i liked how you could pick your own cheese and salami. totally recommended their bread, salami, and the creamy blue cheese, which was absolutely heavenly :)

great service and delicious cocktails. expect a wait as this place is popular! my chocolate orange creamy concoction was fantastic. obviously i just wish it were bigger since it tasted so good. we also tried delicious honey and milk shots. a slight misunderstanding with staff started the night off on a weird foot, but they quickly rectified this and were extremely accommodating and kind it's a stressful atmosphere for staff with so many people wanting to come inside, but limited seating. bar staff were fantastic and very well trained. pictures too hard as it was pretty dark, but trust me, the ambiance is beautiful and the music just the right volume (unlike upstairs...) go check it out!

a hidden little gem, under the busy britomart area. love the ambience and how the place is decorated. sitting at the bar probably is the best spot to watch them how they make your cocktails, very entertaining!
friendly bartender and they can make your cocktail based on your mood (even if you have to be a sober driver) ;)
"troublemaker" the bartender made me and this cocktail pretty much gives me the feeling of being in a tropical island instead of spring time in nz.

love the decor and cocktails there. they will tailor make your cocktails. a bit on the pricey side, but it is great place to stop by on a night out.

uber cool everything here. down the stairs and through the janitor looking door you enter into subdued lighting, dark woods and leather, trinkets and cocktails with attitude.
like all the best cocktail bars you let the table staff know what you like and don't like and trust in the mixers skills. we were not disappointed - several times over.
a great way to spend a late sunday evening!

it's definitely an experience to find a speakeasy bar in any town. located opposite racket bar, you go in to what seems like the wrong bar but there is a podium on the left where you meet with the doorman to let you in. there was a waiting list but luckily it didn't take long.

walking downstairs you enter the caretaker's door and you are taken away to another world. the ambience is dark but alive. there is no menu, so the waitress asked us what we liked in our cocktails, ie what alcohol, sweet, sour etc... and whatever came was a surprise.
i got a different take on a gin martini which was very interesting.

price for our cocktail was $18 each which i thought was okay.

lovely spot to have a chat and enjoy the feeling of being exclusive.
