beignets done right. i have been going to this place for a long time. traditional i must say... it's always a must when i'm in town for the summer. it's funny when i hear people complain about the staff's attitude. as far as i'm concerned, they are friendly and fast. just don't waste their time. they know who has been there and who has not... you look like a tourist when you take more than 10 seconds to order. it's an one page menu on the wall. beignets and coffee. that's it. just walk in and tell them how many dozen and if you want coffee. these are made to order and let me tell you, it's worth the wait. lite, little crispy and plenty of powderedsugaron top. so if you're driving in the morning hours, forget about doughnuts. stop here and hate yourself for not finding out about this place sooner.

tasty deep fried to order squares of dough that form a "pillow" in the fryer, they dust them with powderedsugarwhen done. the formula is simple and the results are delicious, if not quite as light as the originals in n'awlins. the young lady taking orders could have used a friendly pill the day i was there, but the product was tasty and i took it back to the condo, so she didn't impact my experience to any large measure. still, a smile and a kind word isn't that difficult, so cafe beignets only gets a 3rd gear rating.

the beignets were great, just wish there was more selections of food to balance out the early morningsugarrush.
