cafe beignets of alabama

littleplaceat the end of the same strip as rouse's grocery store. popped in for breakfast at 8:55 am and there were only 2 tables occupied. our standard order is one plain (3 in an order) and one vanilla filled. in less than 10 minutes, we got our coffee and piping hot beignets. they do not skimp on the powdered sugar. delicious! sometimes the beignets don't come out full formed, i wish they would toss it rather then serve it. but it does taste the same. as we were leaving around 9:20, every table was filled. they open at 6:30 so early birds, you know where to go!

for 1st time visitors, grab an open table and sit down if you want to eat there & wave at a waitress. go to order counter only if you want takeout. people standing around are just waiting for their takeout order. i hope this clears the confusion of your first visit.

food was great... service, well... we are from out of town heard thisplacewas good. when we showed up kinda confused on what todo. we went to the register and ordered two orders of beignets. delicious. however the waitress was very rude! honestly i wanted to pick up the tip we left and say something. but other than her the food was great!

terrible, awful service. funnel cakes were ok, but the service, including the owner, was horrible. snide, condescending, immature, and just plain rude remarks left us wondering how in the world thisplacestays in business. never in my life, have i seen such rudeness, not just to me, but to all the customers in the restaurant while we were there. waitress went outside to smoke while we waited on our food, then came back in without washing her hands, and served our food. if they're like this in front of customers in plain sight, makes me wonder what happens in the kitchen. avoid this place

beignets done right. i have been going to thisplacefor a long time. traditional i must say... it's always a must when i'm in town for the summer. it's funny when i hear people complain about the staff's attitude. as far as i'm concerned, they are friendly and fast. just don't waste their time. they know who has been there and who has not... you look like a tourist when you take more than 10 seconds to order. it's an one page menu on the wall. beignets and coffee. that's it. just walk in and tell them how many dozen and if you want coffee. these are made to order and let me tell you, it's worth the wait. lite, little crispy and plenty of powdered sugar on top. so if you're driving in the morning hours, forget about doughnuts. stop here and hate yourself for not finding out about thisplacesooner.
