little place at the end of the same strip as rouse's grocery store. popped in for breakfast at 8:55 am and there were only 2 tables occupied. our standard order is one plain (3 in an order) and one vanilla filled. in less than 10 minutes, we got our coffee and piping hot beignets. they do not skimp on the powdered sugar. delicious! sometimes the beignets don't come out full formed, i wish they would toss it rather then serve it. but it does taste the same. as we were leaving around 9:20, every table was filled. they open at 6:30 so early birds, you know where to go!

for 1st time visitors, grab an open table and sit down if you want to eat there & wave at a waitress. go to order counter only if you want takeout. people standing around are just waiting for their takeout order. i hope this clears the confusion of your first visit.

i could not eat here every morning but it is not because i would not want to. hot beignets and powdered sugar. what can you say. bring cash.

i can't help but to compare this place/product to a popular new orleans spot that's relatively known for these powdered pillows. but since i'm not in nola, cafe beignet will definitely get my endorsement for producing a decent beignet.

top shelf, troy dunnam. fine friendly folks, service is excellent, conversation with cafe staff and guest is very enjoyable. i recommend that this cafe be included in your stops at gulf shores, the beignets are delicious and coffee is hot. 5 star in my book.

lady inside is impatient and rude. i had a cappuccino that was brought in a mug. before we left i asked for a to-go cup to take the rest with me. i turned around to pay and they threw my cup away. the food wasn't even that good.

lydia at the front was very helpful! i will call to make sure she is working before i buy again. beignets were fantastic but who ever that other woman was needs to review her attitude and make some serious changes. i am in the service industry and i would never roll my eyes, argue with a customer or have such a nasty disposition. just smile and be nice!

little too "bready" inside. waitress was not extremely friendly. we've tried it twice. no reason for a 3rd visit.

the beignets were fresh and hot made by bill.coffee was great. lydia was our smiling friendly waitress. she was spot on with refilling our coffee. southern hospitality at the best. will go back when i can to eat wonderful beignets and see lydia and diane.

beignets were just ok. one "waitress" extremely rude rude rude! tapping me on the shoulder to rush me to order while looking at the menu. i felt like i was being reprimanded for not knowing how to order. someone needs to educate her on customer service and manners!

food was great... service, well... we are from out of town heard this place was good. when we showed up kinda confused on what todo. we went to the register and ordered two orders of beignets. delicious. however the waitress was very rude! honestly i wanted to pick up the tip we left and say something. but other than her the food was great!

no problems at all, and good beignets. we had read a lot of the service complaints on here, but had no problems when we went. we did hear two guys remark about them only taking cash, but they have an atm right next to the counter. the beignets were great as well.

terrible, awful service. funnel cakes were ok, but the service, including the owner, was horrible. snide, condescending, immature, and just plain rude remarks left us wondering how in the world this place stays in business. never in my life, have i seen such rudeness, not just to me, but to all the customers in the restaurant while we were there. waitress went outside to smoke while we waited on our food, then came back in without washing her hands, and served our food. if they're like this in front of customers in plain sight, makes me wonder what happens in the kitchen. avoid this place

beignets done right. i have been going to this place for a long time. traditional i must say... it's always a must when i'm in town for the summer. it's funny when i hear people complain about the staff's attitude. as far as i'm concerned, they are friendly and fast. just don't waste their time. they know who has been there and who has not... you look like a tourist when you take more than 10 seconds to order. it's an one page menu on the wall. beignets and coffee. that's it. just walk in and tell them how many dozen and if you want coffee. these are made to order and let me tell you, it's worth the wait. lite, little crispy and plenty of powdered sugar on top. so if you're driving in the morning hours, forget about doughnuts. stop here and hate yourself for not finding out about this place sooner.
