finally, after a month, i hadtimeto make a review on burrow cafe. the service and food presentation are great! i can say that the place is worth visiting, but the food is a hit and miss.

lechon and gising gising rice bowl
- the lechon slices are crispy, not oily and seasoned well
- the best gising gising i've ever tasted

burrow burger
- delicious burger
- the camote chips on the side are way too salty

truffled cheese pizza
- i love the sourdough as the pizza bread. it gives a different texture and depth

shrimp, salmon, crabfat, adlai risotto
- definitely a hit!

salmon, ratatouille, pesto cream
- another hit!

black pancit
- not sure what to make of the taste, and i'm not sure why it's a bestseller. sorry

desserts
- dense and very sweet

this is a whole new fresh breath of air 🍃 if you want to take a break from the city lights, this is one of the good spots to go. nakakapagod nga lang yung steps lalo na pag paakyat but it's worth it! went here around 2pm and hindi mainit. sagana sila sa electric fan at may aircon din. as for the food, nagddoubt ako noong una dahil sa mga reviews na nabasa ko dito, at malaking factor na rin ang price. gusto ko talaga itry dito ang risotto, and it never disappoints! firsttimeko to try risotto (lagi ko lang napapanood to kay chef gordon ramsay haha) kaya excited talaga ko. and masarap sya bes. ninamnam ko bawat subo wala ako tinirang butil para sulit 🤣 as for the truffle pizza and crispy suman, masarap din sila so i don't understand bakit yung ibang reviews dito hindi maganda. well, we all have our own set of standards. but i truly enjoyed my stay here at burrow. only thing to comment on, matagal magpa-take out at bill out. yun lang!

my partner and i went here the firsttimerecently during mecg. the place is peaceful and relaxing. the interior design looks old yet classy. we ordered their new menu from their all day lunch and pizza section which were the shrimp/salmon/crabfat/adlai risotto and truffled cheese pizza, respectively. they did not fail us. they were delicious.

i read the reviews before going here so, admittedly, i already wasn't expecting much. i was surprised to see the bad reviews to be honest because i've seen so many photos of this place on my feed. but we had a reservation already (from way earlier this year but kept rescheduling due to lockdowns) so we decided to just see for ourselves. we got there earlier than our reservationtimebut they were able to seat us immediately. was not expecting the stairs to be that -- what's the word? unkempt? -- but i guess it does the job. the restaurant itself looks and feels nice. very pinterest-esque. we were hungry so we placed our orders just shortly after viewing the menu. waitingtimewas decent... the salisbury steak took the longest. taste-wise, yes, nothing special. the dishes don't taste bad but they're not remarkable either so i think yes a bit overpriced. but the portions were good. service was also ok! maybe they read the reviews? but we didn't encounter anyone rude from the crew and one of them even asked if everything was in order, how the food was, etc. well, good for them. overall our experience was nice. would probably go back for dinner just to see what the place looks like at night. thanks, burrow!

- ambience is nice—but
- food was horrible. like they whipped the dishes together just to be over and done with
- dishes were too expensive for the portions
- waiters were inattentive, the restaurant wasn’t even full house at thattime
- it was raining when we went. they only had 1 golf umbrella for the guests to use. so we had to wait and take turns. going to the restaurant was like taking a hike. so waiting and passing the umbrella to other guests was torture.

had to reserve a month in advance and the only available weekend schedule then was end of the month! this cafe must be that great.. not!😒

our appointment was 8:00am so, i expect we’ll be let in at 8:00am. turns out they open at 8 so, we had to wait 15mins. after the cafe officially opens.

pre-ordered food but food came a little late. i understand food takestimeto cook but the drinks was not served right away too.

safety protocol 👍
food was okay. didn’t find anything extra ordinary.
price is overrated.
venue/ ambience has a chill, industrial vibe.
service was excellent.

i guess this is just one of those place you pay for the view/ ambience and not the food. not a place we’ll comeback to.

not overrated as i expected it to be!
reserve in advance! many people did not book a table and was politely escorted away because the tables were full!

ambience aside ('cause we all know how great the place is!), the food was above average in my opinion. :)

1) beef tapa rice - good! although you might want to try their other dishes since you're already in rizal :)

2) grilled chicken with mushroom bourdelaise (option: rice or sweet potato mash) - really good! chicken breast was unexplainably juicy, though i think it wasn't really grilled. its sauce was superb. i can still remember the taste. at first you'll taste a tomato-ey caldereta flavor but then you'll experience an explosion of mushroom. it's unlike any other sauce i've ever tried. i chose the sweet potato mash and it was really smooth and silky rich! i chose this risky dish from the menu, not knowing what bourdelaise was 😂 and i'm so happy i took this risk!

3) home brewed iced tea - unexpectedly really good! 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 it's also in pretty pink color 😍 like pomelo. i think they used honey instead of sugar?

4) dayap creme brulee - really nice! i admit that the creme brulee was not smooth but i took into consideration that the acid from the dayap made it that way. nevertheless, it wasn't unpleasant. it was actually really good that they paired dayap. i also loved the cute little sliced fruits on top! super picturesque! it also paired well with the dish! kudos to their chef for preparing this! it's my firsttimeto hear of dayap (the waiter said it was like a filipino lime?) and i'm glad i got to taste it in this dish! i wish there was a bit more of the burnt sugar on top but i guess it's also good to have less calories 😂 but sweetness was just right ah! thank you for coming up with this dish!

ambience - really great! i lvoe their interior and choice of music. the huge windows were so helpful in making us feel relaxed because we got to see nature really close. and the sunlight wasn't harsh. just right! only thing i can suggest is that their restroom be cleaned more properly.

i saw that they are making an extension just outside, probably for private events so that's really exciting!

our drive from manila took only 1 hour getting there on a sunday. going home, there was a bit of traffic so better plan well!

this is a perfecr place if you want the feeling of being secluded for a little while. what amazed me was how the unfinished feel of the interior added that feeling of coziness while we’re dining here. i celebrated my birthday lunch here with my family and my niece and nephew really had a greattimewith the hammock inside the resto. the food is good too.

food is delicious but you need to have a reservation before going to this place. the table that they gave us was at the back as if we’re not a paying customer just because we weren’t able to reserve—it’s as if we’re discriminated. book ahead oftimeand prepare for a short trek in going to this café.

celebrated our 3rd anniversary here last nov. 21. we got lucky with our walk in but nexttimewe'll have to make reservations first.

the ambiance was great! very calm and spacious. somewhere you can go to when you need to relax and de-stress. the only thing that concerns us was the mosquitos, we got out with a few bites.

the food was good. got the bacon, sausage and eggs but instead of bread i got fried rice. my boyfriend got the grilled chicken with rice instead of mashed potatoes (a bit salty, to be honest) all for the same price.

over all we'd come back for sure.

if you are after good photos then this place is for you. if you are a visual eater then dining here will surely rake in the facebook likes. but if you are after that feeling of warmth and comfort of a place reminiscent of home then this is not the place for you.

why? because of the insincere service of the staff.

the food truly is a visual feast. as for taste, its good but not remarkable. the bar must be upgraded, they don’t know what a good coffee is because they can’t even get the temperature right. the vibe from the reviews is right. the place is quaint and relaxing but lacks authenticity.

we were there for sunday brunch, celebrating my 30th with 20 of the most important people in my life. we were having a good laugh, they were giving me well wishes then along came the staff apprehending us for making noise. other guests were complaining as what they’ve said. when in fact, the other long table whom some of us also knew, are also clapping their hands and in a celebratory mood. of course these are instances you won’t mind. if you happen to be in a cafe and the other table started singing happy birthday of course you don’t complain. that’s exactly why we dine out - to celebrate, bond and have a good laugh with the people we hold dear.

and hence my review. burrow may be ig worthy, but it lacks the most important aspect of a cafe - the very heart of the business, hospitality. if you can’t even give a sincere smile then you’re just in it for the bucks. who would want to hang out again in your place if that’s how you make your guests feel?

i hope the owners would really do something with the service of their staff. for sure they built burrow cafe to be a homey place of comfort and relaxation where guests can always come back and enjoy. from our experience, maybe not anytimesoon.

🐽 food: we arrived right ontimefor merienda. we ordered the chicken inasal pao and their signature cheesecake. both didn’t disappoint.

🍹 drinks: hot chocolate 🍫 was really delicious!

🍴ambiance: easily my favourite cafe in manila. it’s underground so the journey to get to the cafe is also an experience. it doesn’t feel like you’re actually in the city. it’s very cozy with simple architecture and interiors. the natural sunlight and plants bring lots of good energy and inspiration. the cafe is good for dates, catch ups, and even formal occasions.

they also have a beehouse but we weren’t able to visit it.

👫 service: crew were approachable and friendly. orders were served on time.

💸 price: affordable with such a wonderful experience.

everywhere you look, people these days are stressed out. i don’t know if it’s because life has become fast-paced, or we just tend to over worked ourselves to reach our goals or earn more or perhaps we just continue to be so hard on ourselves. for whatever the reason is, it’s not really hard to take sometimeto pause. and what’s one of the option is to get close to nature.

good brunch place but you have to make advance reservations to be sure of the slots. its nicely located under a “bunker” and the view when you get there is spectacular. its ig worthy inside so be sure to havetimefor a pre or post meal photo op. pricey but worth it! 😀

nestled into east of manila is a hidden haven for food and nature lovers. called burrow cafe, it is located in the antipolo beehouse, a nature reserve set in a quiet residential subdivision away from the city’s hustle and bustle. my daughter #exhibita and i decided to treat my mom out to sunday brunch at burrow cafe. this mother-daughter-granddaughter outing is something we’ve been wanting to do for a longtimebut never found thetimefor until now.
