try it for breakfast or brunch. they have a great morning menu !! the muffins are fantastic too. sitting outside is fun and theserverwas smiling and attentive. maybe i will try a mimosa next time.

ourservertina was amazing. so sweet and accommodating. the sangria are local and to die for. the atmosphere was pleasant. the food, over priced and over cooked. the lamb and the scallops were over cooked. i won't be coming back anytime soon for food.

lunch with a friend. ordered spinach dip. whenserverwas bringing it to the table chips were falling everywhere. i often make spinach artichoke dip but i don't use mozzarella because once it cools it is like a brick. pun intended because this was by far the worst spinach dip i ever had! i also got the onion soup. yep you guessed it...another pile of mozzarella cheese! another restaurant to return to. i did suggest that they use gruyere instead of mozzarella but was told it was too expensive! with these prices? please!

this is my 2nd review. i used to like this place but today left me annoyed. i am 6 mon preggo and had a 16 mon in my arms. no one brought me a high chair they were all standing around looking at me, even the host as i was standing at my table. they were not busy, the other servers just passed me by, ourservermia, so my friend walked to the back and grabbed one. ourserversaw that and said nada, she had no personality. my burger was not well done like i asked, i left pretty much the entire thing sans 4 bites around the huge red middle.serverdid not acknowledge it, again don't care. there was raw shredded cabbage under my patty, um ok?!? maybe that's a new addition or not. overall this place needs new servers who don't stand around and watch patrons. also learn how to cook a burger, that's kinda important. waste of $, waste of time. positive- loaded baked potato was great, spinach dip always good, i did enjoy that.

yummy. i go here a lot and consistently have had great food and service usually. there have been a few off days for service and once the fish entree was pretty much inedible and filled with bones (they comped me after they noticed i didn't touch it and the pile of huge bones). but overall, i do like the food here, the salads are fresh, the soups great, the weekend brunch is sooo good. i will return :)

outstanding food and service !! my son and i dined here for new years eve, and we'll definitely be going back. friendlyserverwas attentive and kept glasses full. food was prompt and very tasty. atmosphere is festive but not too loud. can't wait to go back !!

a lovely lunch!. my wife & i decide to have a nice lunch at one of our favorite avondale spots. we arrived on a friday during lunch time and though the house was pretty full we only waited about 5 mins. to be seated. we started our meal with an appetizer of paella croquettes (lobster, shrimp & scallops with a chipotle dipping sauce.) very good! & for our entree we both had crab cake sandwiches with sweet potato fries, the sandwich was full of lump crabmeat on a toasted bun with lettuce & tomato with a roumalade sauce, & the sweet potato fries were surprisingly good, but they could have been better if served with something other than ketchup. the ketchup took away from all in all it was a good lunch, the only thing that marred it a bit was ourservererin seemed to be in a hurry during the lunch rush, she zoomed through our table without much personality or interaction with us. a good meal in a lovely place.

excellent!. my wife and have a dear friend of over 25 years who turn us on to brick, it was simply one of the best meals we've ever had! my wife and i have traveled the world and eaten all over jacksonville, with brick being in the top 10 of places we've eaten anywhere. you must try the shrimp & grits, (wow!) and the scallops carmelized in ginger (teriffic!) and ourserveralex was the best! we can;'t wait to go back in a couple of weeks with friends who've wanted to go but never got around to it. you gotta go and try b-r-i-c-k!

good service, poor food. i went to the brick today for a late lunch/early dinner (on a thursday). the decor in nice and the front house staff friendly. they seated my self and my 2 yr old with no trouble and even offered a choice of highchairs! wow don't see that everywhere. then things took a turn for the worse. myservertook great care of us, no problems there. i ordered the potato encrusted grouper with creamed spinach with sweet potato fries as the side. garden salad , no croutons, and the champagne vinaigrette, this is an add($) on salad. theservertold me it would be a couple of minuets for the bread, it was heating up in the oven. well , someone forgot to pull out the the par baked bread and while in the oven i still received bread with a refrigerator cold center and warm ends. i received new bread with no issue, it was fine. then the salad arrived. it did not have the croutons i didn't want, and the substitution on onion i did want. so far so good. here in my problem the cucumbers looked freeze damaged and the carrots where dry as if the where cut the day before. the tomatoes had no flavor, obviously kept too cold ( cold kills the flavor in tomatoes). the salad mix was washed but not well there where bits of wilted greens stuck to other leaves. now we come to the entree. the food runner brought it to the table and as soon as it was passing in front of me i noticed a smell. not so nice but i tried to pass it off as someone in the area having a bit of gas. with a bit of trepidation i took a bite of the grouper. first i want to say it is more or a grouper gratin , broiled mash potatoes on top, and a barely visible creamed spinach underneath. i took a bite and immediately spit it out, my daughter thought it was funny. the distinct flavor of ammonia and iodine lingering on my palate. i ate not another bite of food. the manager comped my meal, and i expressed my opinion as to the food. she told me they have been having trouble with their purveyors, small excuse for a restaurant with a good reputation. i think they have a kitchen staff that does not care and a chef that can't or won't properly train his/her staff. i believe in second chances but it will be a few months before i return.

great food...so so server. we had great food...but when we sat down and my husband asked about the different red wines, theserveractually said, "well i mean you have a $13 dollar one and an $8 dollar one....sooooo" that was her description!!!! i caught onto her sarcasm and so did my husband. he wanted to just be polite, if it were up to me, i would have left. good thing the food was excellent! she was not my favorite part of this experience

service served with a whopping side of sarcasm.... my son, daughter and husband attempted to try their sunday brunch. we were seated promptly & had aservercome to our table with our drinks pretty readily but when it came time to order all hell broke loose....or should i say, heaven? the waiter had no problem expressing his frustrations taking orders from typically indesively kids by saying, "jesus" under his breath. my husband asked my son if he heard that to which my son replied, "yes". then he proceeded to ask the waiter if he had said that to which the waiter had no problem telling us "yes" and try to explain that he was having a problem with the way we were ordering (keep in mind, the guy didn't write anything down and didn't even have a pad or pen with him). my husband then told him to get his manager and told us to step outside. standing at the front door we see the manager and the waiter laughing about the situation. my husband said, "oh, i see how this works" and we left and went to get food across the street.

never in my life i have i ever been treated so badly, and in front of our kids!!! oh, and it doesn't end there.

having settled in at our new breakfast location, putting the incident behind us, a man comes up to our table and proceeds to threaten us saying that his friend "better not get fired." he then told my husband to "step-outside". again, all of this in front of our kids.

i had given absolutely no thought to the waiter being fired for his treatment of us with his outright sarcasm, but now that his "friend" followed us and verbally acosted us, i sincerely hope he does.

so, thinking of the brick for brunch? pass!!! go across the street to the fox where you get welcome, warm service and terrific food from people who value you as a customer regardless of how "complicated" your order may be.

amazing salad. we sat outside to eat & shared a mediterranean salad. it was amazing! it had spring lettuce, tomatoes, peppercorns, chick peas, artichokes (& i love artichokes!), red onion, and the most divine champagne vinagrette i've ever had. it was delish!!! splitting gave each of us a hearty portion. it was very hot about 2:00 but the canopy, trees, a slight breeze, and the misting fans make it delightful. great service and an overall 10+ experience. thanks everyone - you too amy!!! glad you had a day off from ted's.

accommodating. my husband & i took our son & his girlfriend out for lunch. she ordered the infamous shrimp & grits appetizer, which she loved! our son ordered a hamburger all the way w/ fries. he enjoyed it too. my husband ordered the same as he did. i ordered the spinach salad. it was huge! i think they emptied a bag of small spinach leaves in the bowl. theservertook down 2 hamburger plates, but the kitchen delivered only one. my husband had to sit & wait for his plate while we all ate 1/2 of ours. when it was delivered to the table, i asked theserverif she would comp it. without hesitation, theserveraccommodated us and compted his meal. we appreciated it and tipped accordingly. the food is always very good here, the atmosphere is open & airy, and the service is always good.

fantastic food and service!. now there are lots of choices in jacksonville to eat, 2256 according to urbanspoon, but the brick is the only place i have visited, especially on the westside, where you can ask yourserverto create something off the menu, and not have a problem. you can mix and match items to your liking, i was able to create a blt with salmon all by asking for it, since i loved this at another restaurant, who will remain nameless, since they took this off their menu.

new items are coming and going all the time from the brick, the staff is well educated and has excellent experience, and the restaurant has 3 excellent managers who all seem to be there on the busy nights and holidays. great jazz on weekends, it is a great place to hang out and have a very good meal.

i truly wish this place would get their quality control under control!. i have given this place exhausting opportunities as a favorite sunday brunch spot. but, be aware that what comes out of the kitchen has no quality control. they can't cook eggs to order (tried on 4 different occasions to get over medium eggs), when they make a mistake they simply do things like scrape cheese off instead of re-cooking, they don't check the quality of bread items and i have several times gotten half a bun that was a croûton, and there are dozens more examples. the service can be excellent, but there are a couple of servers with more attitude than talent and they seem to still keep their jobs. just this past sunday i asked for mayo for my burger at the time it was served (i've stopped ordering eggs because they are too difficult for them to cook). well, no mayo and noserverand everyone else had completely finished their meals. so i went and ask for a manager and told her what happened and i finally got my mayo! however, guess what? cold fries, half croûton bun and well done burger (ordered medium rare) with the american cheese scraped off and some still left on the bun. i think they were simply trying to outdo their previous horrendous quality control! stay away if you prefer your food to be as ordered because it's clear their slogan is the kitchens way or the highway folks!

the food is amazing. live music on the weekends. ask for theservernamed randa. good service and eclectic atmousphere. 5 stars!!!!!
